Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the leader of each round called?

Answer: Dasher

The dasher is the leader of each round. The dasher of the first round is always the person who rolls the highest number on the die.
2. "Absolute Balderdash" is solely a test of one's knowledge.

Answer: False

The object of this game is to be able to bluff (fool) everyone else into believing a made up answer is actually the answer to the question. Points are awarded for fooling players as well as guessing the right answer.
3. There are five categories in Canadian version of "Absolute Balderdash". They include: Movies, Dates, Initials and People. Pick the missing category.

Answer: Words

The missing category was Words. This category offers such gems as Formication - the feeling that ants are crawling all over you. I played this game with an English teacher and believe it or not, she really knew how to make up words.

In the UK version of the game, the Dates category is replaced by the Laws category.
4. What is the name of the card that the dasher reads from?

Answer: Definition Card

The name of the card is a definition card. It contains the definition of what the words, people or initials mean.

The card is not deceptive nor does it contain bluffs in order to trick people. Also, it does not ask any questions, but provides answers.
5. How many points do you get when someone picks your phony answer and it is incorrect?

Answer: one point

You get one point when someone picks your phony answer. Two points are given to the player who chooses the real answer. Three points are given to the person who submits an answer that is similar to the real answer.
6. The "Absolute Balderdash" board consists of 27 spaces. There is one space for each letter in the alphabet. What is on the extra space in the middle of the game board?

Answer: Double Score

The space is called "DOUBLE SCORE" so on the next round, the player automatically doubles their score. Remember that double zero is still zero.
7. Can the dasher get points even if he is not guessing?

Answer: Yes

The dasher (the leader from the previous round) is able to get points only if none of the players choose the real "Balderdash" answer. You would win 3 points!
8. What happens when more than one person gives the correct definition of an answer?

Answer: The round is cancelled.

The round is cancelled. However, each person who guessed a definition that closely resembled the correct answer will get 3 points.
9. According to the instructions, what is the pad of paper called provided with the game?

Answer: bluffing pad

The answer is a bluffing pad. I made all the others up but each is a synonym for bluffing.
10. What is the name on the last space on the board?

Answer: Finish

It is "Finish". If you are "Done" first and are at the "End" of the game, perhaps you are a good "Liar".

This is a fun game that should not be missed. The box says for ages between 10 and 110 but I think you should be at least 12. It works best with more than 5 people but definitely less than 8.
