Recently, I received 'The Farming Game' as a gift. Although I had never heard of it before, it was created in 1979. If you like playing games with your kids while teaching them of life, you've got to get this game!

The object of 'The Farming Game' is to earn enough money from your farm to quit your job in town and be your own boss.
2. The game is modeled after a real place called the Yakima Valley. In what state would you go to visit?

Answer: Washington

3. Each player begins the game with 20 acres of crops inherited from whom?

Answer: Grandpa

Each square on the board represents one week of the year. In the winter you have the option to buy crops and equipment that earn money throughout the next year.
4. In the Farming Game, there are 3 different feed crops you can harvest. Name one.

Answer: wheat

When you purchase wheat in the game you are also buying corn and you have a good chance of harvesting one or the other. However, there are more spaces for hay harvesting.
5. What is the only type of livestock you can own in the game?

Answer: cattle

Selling your cattle pays well, but hitting the livestock sales can be difficult.
6. There are two types of fruit you can purchase. One is apples. What is the other?

Answer: cherries

Fruit is a very lucrative crop to own, but very expensive to keep.
7. As in real life farming, the bank is a greedy bloodsucker. In order to get a loan from the bank, how much of a penalty do you have to pay off the top of your loan?

Answer: 20 percent

In the game 20 percent is standard with the bank. In order to purchase crops or equipment you must pay 20 percent of the purchase price and the bank will loan you the rest.

Answer: 50,000

Once you reach {$50,000} you need to pay off some of your bank notes in order to purchase more crops. Net assets totaling {$250,000} or more will win you the game.
9. There are two kinds of equipment you can purchase during the game. One is a tractor. What is the other?

Answer: harvester

The tractor is for your grain harvests, the harvester for fruit.

Farmer's Fate can be good or bad. As in real farming there are many disasters that affect your harvest.
