Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Leads from the end of the previous chapter, 'Children of the Void', will direct adventurers to what elf village, home of Eviana Nirgassan?

Answer: Crying Leaf

It's during this chapter that heroes will venture further from Riddleport than ever before, leaving the thief stuff behind and going full-tilt into the fight against evil and deception. A series of clues will direct northward to Crying Leaf, an elf town in the Mierani Forest, and after a number of potential encounters on the way, adventurers will get to meet the local Shin'Rakorath representative, village leader Eviana Nirgassan, who will brief them on the situation involving drow forces in Celwynvian.
2. As one comes to fight the drow forces in Celwynvian, they might notice that they apply alchemical solutions to which of these?

Answer: Bolts

A typical item in the drow arsenal is the hand crossbow, and to fire one you would need to nock a bolt. The drow have already created some handy additions to this process, manufacturing different chemicals that can have adverse effects on foes. The resin used in drow poison in particular is a hearty substance, able to knock less-than-fortuitous heroes unconscious for a chunk of time.

It's not uncommon to find ranged foes who also load bolts with alchemist's fire and acid in this chapter.
3. The Library of Dust is likely to be an early point to recapture during the raid of Celwynvian. What creatures, beside the drow, are you likely to find there?

Answer: Spiders

The probable first stop in the effort to reclaim Celwynvian from drow skirmishers is the Library of Dust, an intact structure occupied by drow and dretches that contains a small handful of useful magical items and intelligence. The building, unoccupied for so long before the drow showed up, is also home to a colony of giant recluse spiders.

As if drow poison weren't enough, these creatures drive home the point of bulking up on Fortitude. It's that point of the campaign; no excuses. Once the building has been cleared out, the elves will retake it without fear of losing ground.
4. Ilverae Parastric occupies which location in Celwynvian's ruins?

Answer: Alchemical lab

Following the raid on the library, the alchemical laboratory is Eviana's second point of interest as it's likely the source of the drow poisons being used on the Elven forces. The building is occupied by several troglodytes, a drider, and Ilverae Parastric, a bard with a knack for potion-crafting.

The battle here is likely to be interesting as the ruins of the building are partially surrounded by dangerous, nauseating chemical residue. Neutralizing the chemicals in the building is the likely goal, but how they get disposed of is likely to be a concern; dumping them and poisoning the water table or burning them to cause noxious fumes are both poor and inadvisable options.
5. The drow barbarian, Kardrogas, guards the portal in which of these buildings in Celwynvian?

Answer: The Academy of the Arts

The Academy of the Arts is the last place to visit in the quest to reclaim the ruins of Celwynvian, and it's likely to be the toughest to infiltrate not only due to the drow guards in position there, but because it contains a horde of magical creatures from undead elves to water elementals to vrocks to an aboleth resting in an illusory chamber.

The final room of this small dungeon contains the Armageddon Gate, and guarding it is Kardrogas, the one person standing between the heroes and answers to the mystery behind the Cyphergate.
6. The Armageddon Echo repeats the events of the Earthfall. What creatures can be found in this other realm?

Answer: Babaus

Babaus are little demon creatures taken on by the final foe of the chapter, Nolveniss, and who patrol the Celwynvian seen in the Armageddon Echo. When anyone enters the portal leading to this realm, they relive the events leading to the fall of the star that struck this region ten millennia ago.

It's not a safe trip unless visitors are close enough to the Shadow Key, in which case they'll simply shunt back to their material realm if the star crashes (within a few days of arriving), but to get close enough to that, they'll need to find the drow illusionist himself.
7. Throughout the Armageddon Echo, you might come across someone whose name is revealed to be Arkaxis. What is this character?

Answer: An assassin

Shadowy creatures aren't the only thing to worry about in the Armageddon Echo. Once non-drow characters step foot in the demi-plane, Nolveniss will become aware of their presence and start pushing the pieces around to ensure they don't reach him and stop his horrible plans from coming to be. One of these pieces is Arkaxis, a drow rogue and assassin who will disguise himself to emulate one of the Elven echo spirits frequently seen in this version of Celwynvian.

His goal will be to isolate the party members, one by one, to kill them with a studied death attack.

He'll also, likely, plant seeds of misinformation wherever possible, pushing any visitors away from the their final destination.
8. Nolveniss Azrinae can be found in which structure in the Armageddon Echo?

Answer: The Observatory

All clues in the demi-plane version of Celwynvian will direct visitors to the Observatory, one of the largest structures in the city, and the location at which Nolveniss Azrinae will be conducting his Earthfall research. To get to him at the top of the building, visitors will need to make their way through the passages, the orrery, and the repositories of the building.

There is a limited number of drow occupying the space, but trespassers will also encounter some potentially unexpected foes of a higher caliber.
9. What colour is Razorhorn, the dragon found in the Armageddon Echo?

Answer: Green

Razorhorn waits in the observatory of the Armageddon Echo as a matter of convenience, brought in by Nolveniss as he was persuaded to join their cause, he only decided to help to gain the upper hand on the elves of Crying Leaf, descendants of those who killed his mother, the more fearsome elder dragon Verchazmia. Razorhorn is a juvenile dragon, but no less fearsome. Because he's green, he has devastating acid breath and numerous physical attacks to perform on full rounds.

His lair is on the first floor of the observatory and he must be encountered if anyone wants to make their way up the internal stairwells.
10. Nolveniss Azrinae wields which of the following weapons?

Answer: Staff

By the time anyone reaches the top of the observatory, Nolveniss will likely have prepared for battle. Fortunately, this illusionist fights alone, but while he is a solo fighter, he's very likely to be much stronger than any single member of an adventuring party, and with his weapon-- a necromantic Staff of Dark Flame-- his spells are particularly potent. If defeated, anyone can collect the Shadow Key from his body and activate it to be teleported back to the portal on the Material Plane or, otherwise, they can wait and watch the world end and be shunted back across.

The Shadow Key is an invaluable artifact. Yes, it can create the portal to the Armageddon Echo, but more importantly, it can lead the user to the drow city of Zirnakaynin, and that's the next point of interest for the elves.
