Adventure Paths Trivia Questions

1. This chapter of the Adventure Path brings travellers to Iadara where they will have an audience with which elven queen?

From Quiz
"A Memory of Darkness"

Answer: Telandia

Queen Telandia Edasseril is the one who rules over the Kingdom of Kyonin, the elven capital city, so when the heroes of the campaign emerge from the elven gate that took them from the Darklands and return to Crying Leaf, they'll be told to head closer to Kyonin to recount their findings in front of Telandia herself. This trip will take them far along the travel routes-- the satellite city of Iadara isn't quite so close to the Riddleport region-- but there they will be able to state their case. Telandia will leave the veracity of these developments to her diviners and in the meantime the travellers will stay in lodgings nearby. It's during this time that certain members of the Winter Council will put their own plans into motion.

2. Leads from the end of the previous chapter, 'Children of the Void', will direct adventurers to what elf village, home of Eviana Nirgassan?

From Quiz "The Armageddon Echo"

Answer: Crying Leaf

It's during this chapter that heroes will venture further from Riddleport than ever before, leaving the thief stuff behind and going full-tilt into the fight against evil and deception. A series of clues will direct northward to Crying Leaf, an elf town in the Mierani Forest, and after a number of potential encounters on the way, adventurers will get to meet the local Shin'Rakorath representative, village leader Eviana Nirgassan, who will brief them on the situation involving drow forces in Celwynvian.

3. A shadow in the sky has appeared over Riddleport. By what name is it referred to by most of the locals?

From Quiz "Shadow in the Sky"

Answer: The Blot

While The Blot has grown in size over the weeks before the campaign starts, not much is known by the local academic community, the Cyphermages, who've put many of their resources into determining if the phenomenon is foreboding or otherwise. Long story short, it is, but getting to the bottom of it is another thing entirely. Over the course of this first chapter of the campaign, weird evens will likely occur all over Riddleport as a result of The Blot from a tidal swell forming in the harbour to birds committing suicide in the waters to porous, black rocks falling from the sky. All of these things should point directly to 'bad news'.

4. Which attribute is linked to the Harrow Deck for this final chapter of the campaign?

From Quiz "Crown of Fangs"

Answer: Charisma

Every suit for the Harrow Deck has its chapter in this campaign, and the only one not to see any action is Charisma, which finally gets its dues in the "Crown of Fangs" chapter, likely due to the attribute's indelible link to the campaign's final boss. Using Harrow Points for this chapter will allow for Charisma rerolls at any time, as is typical of the Harrow use, but it also grants inner strength to the user, giving bonuses based on cards drawn from the deck in combat, and allows for the player to force a d20 reroll from the gamemaster, though the second roll must be the used result (and can be rerolled based on points).

5. As per the legend, who originally defeated the dragon Kazavon?

From Quiz "Skeletons of Scarwall"

Answer: Mandraivus

The Sklar-Quah Shoanti and the Sun Shaman at the Flameford Encampment, following the Red Mantis raid in the end of 'A History of Ashes', will tell the heroes that the answers they seek will be found in the massive fortress known as Scarwall, where the heroic Mandraivus defeated the dragon, Kazavon, whose power could be found in the fangs of Queen Ileosa's crown. Although the fangs were purposely spread far and wide, Ileosa's flourishing power indicates that they have been reunited and this likely means that the monsters of Scarwall are back in action.

6. During 'A History of Ashes', which attribute is affected by Harrow readings?

From Quiz "A History of Ashes"

Answer: Strength

Thematically, Strength makes sense for this chapter. As the heroes of the campaign leave Korvosa, there's an urge to rebuild themselves, leaving the city that acted as their base of operations for the first half of the story. Strength also ends up being a big factor when dealing with the trials of the Shoanti visited in the Cinderlands in this and the next chapters of the campaign. Any Harrow Points gained in this chapter can allow for Strength-based rerolls, enhancement of character size for a short time, or give +5 as an attack bonus on any melee or natural weapon for one combat.

7. For this chapter of the campaign, the Harrow Deck leans in favour of which character attribute?

From Quiz "Escape From Old Korvosa"

Answer: Intelligence

Much like the boosts given to Charisma and Constitution in the previous two chapters of the campaign, players who consult Zellara's Harrow Deck for a reading in "Escape From Old Korvosa" will be able to get Harrow Points if they draw Intelligence-suit cards. These allow for Intelligence re-rolls throughout the chapter, bonuses to skill checks, and to increase the strength of arcane spells or overcome spell resistance, which may come in handy for some of the more magical creatures which start making their way into the story.

8. A yellow light in the Jeggare River precedes the sinking of a ship from Cheliax known by what name?

From Quiz "Seven Days to the Grave"

Answer: Direption & The Direption

As the 'Seven Days to the Grave' chapter commences, a ship - originally thought to be a ghost ship - sinks in the Jeggare River. What the heroes don't know is that the ship is a catalyst for the events of the next chapter (and further on); it contains a number of Death's Head Coffers containing contaminated silver coins which lead to an epidemic. Investigating the wreck is always an option a bit later into the chapter, but it doesn't take long before infection takes hold in North Point and an outbreak is sparked.

9. What is the surname of brothers Silas and Karivek, who once found the route to Xin-Shalast?

From Quiz "Spires of Xin-Shalast"

Answer: Vekker

The Vekker Brothers, according to local legend in the Janderhoff region, ended up starving themselves during a flight into the Kodar mountain range after absconding with handfuls of loot and, upon doing so on the night of the full moon, were granted the ability to find the the entrance to the path to Xin-Shalast and Mhar Massif, far up into the tallest reaches of the Storval Region. Their whereabouts, however, are much more difficult to pin down considering the time that has passed since this all happened. There may, however, be some good tip-offs to their last whereabouts if the heroes ask around.

10. Following the defeat of Mokmurian in Jorgenfist, a sinkhole will appear in what region?

From Quiz "Sins of the Saviors"

Answer: Sandpoint

Shortly after the defeat of Mokmurian in the caverns beneath Jorgenfist, Sandpoint will, once again, play home to an odd occurrence (it doesn't seem to end, does it?). This time, after a sinkhole appears in the town there's no choice but to delve back into the Catacombs of Wrath beneath the town and investigate the noises from within. What can be found is a being known as The Scribbler who guards a Shrine to Lamashtu deep within. It comes as no surprise that this journey into the depths ties into the Runelords, and reading the Thassilonian scrawlings on the wall will give insight into the next destination: Rimeskull and the Runeforge.

11. At the start of this chapter, things don't seem to be looking good up at Fort Rannick, a stronghold found near which small settlement northeast of Magnimar?

From Quiz "The Hook Mountain Massacre"

Answer: Turtleback Ferry

After stopping the Skinsaw Cultists in Magnimar, heroes will likely be directed by the Mayor of the city to investigate the goings-on near Turtleback Ferry as they've lost contact with the Order of the Black Arrows, a group of rangers securing the fort against evil forces. A familiar face from Sandpoint, Shalelu, will have an emotional stake in matters and come along for the journey to the Hook Mountain Region. Another important point to note: the area is consistently getting rained upon and widespread flooding is rampant. Something must be amiss.

12. Something nefarious is afoot in Sandpoint, and while the threat in Thistletop has been neutralized, a murder has occurred at which location in town at the start of this chapter?

From Quiz "The Skinsaw Murders"

Answer: Lumber Mill

Explorers will have earned a fair bit of reputation clearing out Thistletop, and all of this will lead to a new job -- uncovering the truth behind the gruesome murder at the Sandpoint Lumber Mill marked with none other than the seven-pointed Sihedron Rune. All signs point to a person known as the Skinsaw Man, a murderer who desecrates bodies, mutilating them beyond recognition. Something undead also seems to be afoot, but any perpetrators clearly escape across the river long before anyone is able to investigate. Several bodies below the Garrison are further victims of this killer, and a potential witness, Grayst, is locked up in Habe's Sanatorium on the outskirts of town.

13. What types of creatures decide to execute a raid on the coastal town of Sandpoint in the "Burnt Offerings" module, interrupting the Swallowtail Festival?

From Quiz "Burnt Offerings"

Answer: Goblins

"Burnt Offerings'" focal point is definitely the quaint, seaside town of Sandpoint, a fishing village home to several hundred inhabitants. The campaign begins during the Swallowtail Festival, an annual gathering during which locals serve delicious food, let loose butterflies in the name of Desna, and simply enjoy the onset of autumn. But what brings adventurers together any better than a raid on the peaceful town? Before they know it, the players are met with a challenge-- groups of goblins begin attacking, emerging from their hiding spots to fight dogs, horses, and humans alike and setting fire to the newly-rebuilt cathedral in the center of town. No one knows yet, but the Goblins have unearthed the remains of Father Tobyn, the town's former priest. Suffice to say, they're all menaces. "Goblins chew and goblins bite. Goblins cut and goblins fight. Stab the dog and cut the horse, Goblins eat and take by force! Goblins race and goblins jump. Goblins slash and goblins bump. Burn the skin and mash the head, Goblins here and you be dead! Chase the baby, catch the pup. Bonk the head to shut it up. Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed, We be goblins! You be food!"

14. What is the name of the casino home to the 'Cheat the Devil and Take His Gold' event?

From Quiz "Shadow in the Sky"

Answer: Gold Goblin & The Gold Goblin

The campaign begins when a man by the name of Saul Vancaskerkin purchases and renovates a building in the warehouse district of Riddleport, converting it into a gambling casino called The Gold Goblin. The heroes will likely receive word of a major event occurring for the launch, cutely named 'Cheat the Devil and Take His Gold', and everyone will likely have their reasons for wanting to attend. During the launch however, the casino will be infiltrated by some petty thieves. Some swift actions against them may very well be the spark that starts the whole thing off.

15. What attribute gains focus through harrow readings during this chapter of the campaign?

From Quiz "Skeletons of Scarwall"

Answer: Wisdom

As we near the end of the campaign in this penultimate chapter, the options for potential ability scores begins to narrow significantly, and Wisdom takes the prize this time around, giving players the ability to use Harrow Points for Wisdom-based rerolls (ie. Will saves, Perception checks, etc.), allow for Greater Turning by rebuking undead creatures with bonuses, and to give bonus to divine spells. In addition to the harrow reading, Zellara will sing a song about a mysterious item known as Serithtiel, whose secrets may lie within Scarwall.

16. A visit to the town of Harse marks the return of what character seen earlier in the campaign?

From Quiz "A History of Ashes"

Answer: Trinia Sabor

Trinia Sabor, who Vencarlo Orisini likely escorted out of the city as Blackjack at the end of the first chapter ("Edge of Anarchy") is found to be hiding out in Harse, a small town far enough from Korvosa to avoid Queen Ileosa's gaze. Trinia is at the Blackbird Ranch just outside the town and she'll be reunited with the heroes along with Neolandus and Vencarlo. Neolandus will urge the party to head to the Cinderlands, far northeast of Korvosa above the Storval Plateau, as knowledge of Kazavon and Midnight's Teeth, which may be influencing the Queen, can likely be found amongst the Shoanti tribes there.

17. Brienna Soldado turns out to be patient number one for the outbreak to hit Korvosa. What is the name of the disease she contracts?

From Quiz "Seven Days to the Grave"

Answer: Bloodveil & Blood Veil

The heroes of the campaign are called by a man met in the first chapter of the campaign - Grau - to help Brienna Soldano, a young girl whose health seems to be on the decline. They can heal her right away with the proper tools or magic, but no matter how they deal with the situation it's already too late for the city; Bloodveil takes hold and citizens start feeling symptoms of the plague. All player characters have a chance of contracting the plague during this chapter and it will debilitate them if not cared for. By the end of the chapter, heroes have a one in two chance of being infected.

18. Gaedren Lamm's fishery is home to a number of children, referred to by which collective name?

From Quiz "Edge of Anarchy"

Answer: The Lambs

The heroes of the story, already connected to Gaedren in their own ways, will likely know all about Gaedren's Lambs-- children who steal and pick pockets and live in the old fishery and hideout on the waterfront. Facing them is a possibility when his fishery is investigated on Zellara's behalf, though visitors will also, likely run into other problems there from gangsters to sharks, alligators to spiders. Of course, Gaedren himself can also be found in his lair, guarding secrets of his own.

19. What animated creature stands outside the mining cabin on the Kazaron River?

From Quiz "Spires of Xin-Shalast"

Answer: Tree

If anything should set off the 'this place isn't safe' radar, it's the act of approaching a tree and discovering that it's actually a menacing, evil creature. The Horror Tree in front of the mining building, a former treant, now guards the structure and destroys the few who seek to enter the front door. With a colossal reach, the tree is very much weak to fire but has a penchant for killing nature-based characters like druids and rangers. His unnatural fungus also has the ability to drain Dexterity.

20. Heading out of town toward Turtleback Ferry, adventurers may come across an animal by the name of Kibb, who actually happens to be an animal companion of one of the Black Arrows. What kind of animal is Kibb?

From Quiz "The Hook Mountain Massacre"

Answer: Cougar

Kibb is a noteworthy animal considering his appearance in the woods. An animal companion of Jakardros, a major figure in the Order of the Black Arrows, he'll actually be found in a trap set by the evil Graul Family, an ogrekin clan that's actually captured three Black Arrows and imprisoned them on their nearby farm. Allowing Kibb to go free and lead you there, if you can, will, possibly, give you the jump on the Grauls inside. The biggest dilemma, likely, is getting the Black Arrows out of the barn and out of the grasp of a giant Ogre Spider, Biggin', who resides there.

21. All clues in the Skinsaw Murders will ultimately lead to a local house known by what name?

From Quiz "The Skinsaw Murders"

Answer: Misgivings

Heading to Habe's Sanatorium and getting inside can be a bit of a struggle, especially if Habe is unwilling to take any guests, but if investigators are seeking the truth they'll find a way up to the top-floor cell containing Grayst Sevilla, the only witness to the Skinsaw Murders. Grayst will be in the midst of transforming into a ghoul (being afflicted with ghoul fever) and will urge the amateur detectives to head to 'the Misgivings'. Even if Grayst is defeated or stopped, he'll end up going mad and remaining in solitary confinement in Habe's. But clues are clues.

22. During the raid on Sandpoint, the adventurers have the chance to assist which NPC, a noble from Magnimar coming to inherit a mansion outside the city?

From Quiz "Burnt Offerings"

Answer: Aldern Foxglove

While the others are Sandpoint citizens, Aldern is new to Sandpoint, having come to the town to inherit a manor on the edge of the sea. He's in town during the raid and, unless the players can step in fast enough, his trusty dog will be killed by one of the attacking goblins. For saving his life, however, Aldern will reward the players with a boar hunt out in the woods outside of town. If any members of the player party are female, he'll prove to be a bit of a ladies' man, flirting all the while (even though he is married). His role becomes all the more important in later parts of "Rise of the Runelords". In the meantime, the players become local heroes.

23. The Glyph of Renewal can reset Glyphs if they've been destroyed. Where can one locate it?

From Quiz "Descent Into Midnight"

Answer: The Crystal Plaza

Although there's no single way to approach the Focus Glyphs and the order in which they're wiped out, the Glyph of Renewal is a smart contender for the first on the list since its power allows it to restore any other destroyed Glyphs in twenty-four hours. Without disabling it, visitors to the Land of Black Blood are likely to retrace their steps until they get it right. To get to this one, you would need to visit the Crystal Plaza, an area that plays home to an abyssal harvester known locally as The Feasting Damnation. Its ability to pull people into another dimension with its many tentacles is likely to be an off-putting trait. A hero with a strong heal check is likely to make the shortest work of the Glyph.

24. The infiltration of Zirnakaynin ultimately places its unwelcome visitors into which noble drow house?

From Quiz "Endless Night"

Answer: House Vonnarc

This infiltration, should the disguised visitors reach the city of Zirnakaynin, will ultimately reach the chambers of House Vonnarc where they will be able to work under the iron grip of Slavemother Undamesta. Getting into the house shouldn't be too hard-- visitors can follow Gadak all the way from the elf gate to the Slavemaster's chambers. If they can answer enough questions to satisfy her, they can take beds in the Servants' Quarters. Really, all that means is not lashing out when asked a few normal interview questions.

25. The largest settlement on Devil's Elbow is known by what name?

From Quiz "Children of the Void"

Answer: Witchlight

Arriving at Devil's Elbow will most likely set visitors on the uphill path to Witchlight, the only former settlement on the island, now just a heap of ruins a the center of a wide bay. Here is likely where visitors will get their first look at some of the effects the falling star has had on the island since the ruined storehouse here contains some Void Zombies and hints at the upcoming battles. It's also the final holdout of a group of cyphermage researchers on the island who arrived to investigate the recent events; they can be found in the dilapidated watchtower.

26. Bishop Keppira d'Bear, who heroes will make contact with upon returning to Korvosa, follows which deity?

From Quiz "Crown of Fangs"

Answer: Pharasma

There's a bit of a reunion expected of the heroes upon their return to Korvosa, but because of the Queen's Grey Maiden patrols and the expectation of something brewing beneath the Queen's gaze, the meeting needs to be held in secret. This falls to the hands of the leader of the Cathedral of Pharasma in Korvosa, Bishop Keppira d'Bear, who, along with Neolandus, Grau, Vencarlo, and Cressida, will lay out what's happened since the group left at the end of "Escape From Old Korvosa" in chapter three. There are matters to attend to though, before anyone storms the castle.

27. Vencarlo isn't in his home in Old Korvosa, but searching his studio will unveil that he is actually whom?

From Quiz "Escape From Old Korvosa"

Answer: Blackjack & Black Jack

When the heroes are sent to Old Korvosa to find Vencarlo, they won't. At least, they won't yet. And heading to his house and studio will put the players face to face with Red Mantis Assassins who'll try to burn the place down. Searching Vencarlo's belongings will lead inquisitive minds to find a Blackjack suit amongst his things, revealing that he plays the role of the urban folk vigilante in his spare time. They can don the suit thereafter. Someone knows where Vencarlo is though...

28. During this chapter of the campaign, what Harrow suit bears most significance?

From Quiz "Seven Days to the Grave"

Answer: Constitution

It's no surprise that the Harrow Deck readings held in this chapter benefit from the Constitution suit since it's the modifier most applicable to players' fortuitousness. Harrow Points attained in this chapter lead to Constitution rerolls, Hit Point regeneration, and Damage Reduction if used in and out of battle, not to mention that players drawing certain cards in the Constitution suit may get special bonuses at certain points in the chapter. All of these bonuses should go a long way in getting down and dirty with Blood Veil and saving the citizens of Korvosa from the plague.

29. The stone giant have a secret weapon to use in their raid against Sandpoint. What is the name of the dragon who sets fire to the local buildings?

From Quiz "Fortress of the Stone Giants"

Answer: Longtooth

If the stone giant and their dire bears weren't enough, Sandpoint will also feel the heat when a juvenile red dragon, Longtooth, descends from the skies less than a minute after the first attacks at Northgate. Without a way to stop this foe, the Garrison, Cathedral, and other major landmarks in Sandpoint will burn down. Clever coordination is required to keep the town from being lost in this manner and, of course, it's just one more on a list of issues to face in this major battle. Luckily, Longtooth is one of the final major enemies to appear. If the heroes defeat him and Teraktinus or force back the army well enough to call a success, the remaining Stone Giants should be non-issues by comparison.
