Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Something nefarious is afoot in Sandpoint, and while the threat in Thistletop has been neutralized, a murder has occurred at which location in town at the start of this chapter?

Answer: Lumber Mill

Explorers will have earned a fair bit of reputation clearing out Thistletop, and all of this will lead to a new job -- uncovering the truth behind the gruesome murder at the Sandpoint Lumber Mill marked with none other than the seven-pointed Sihedron Rune. All signs point to a person known as the Skinsaw Man, a murderer who desecrates bodies, mutilating them beyond recognition. Something undead also seems to be afoot, but any perpetrators clearly escape across the river long before anyone is able to investigate. Several bodies below the Garrison are further victims of this killer, and a potential witness, Grayst, is locked up in Habe's Sanatorium on the outskirts of town.
2. All clues in the Skinsaw Murders will ultimately lead to a local house known by what name?

Answer: Misgivings

Heading to Habe's Sanatorium and getting inside can be a bit of a struggle, especially if Habe is unwilling to take any guests, but if investigators are seeking the truth they'll find a way up to the top-floor cell containing Grayst Sevilla, the only witness to the Skinsaw Murders. Grayst will be in the midst of transforming into a ghoul (being afflicted with ghoul fever) and will urge the amateur detectives to head to 'the Misgivings'. Even if Grayst is defeated or stopped, he'll end up going mad and remaining in solitary confinement in Habe's.

But clues are clues.
3. The Skinsaw Man's trail of destruction leads the investigators into the local farmlands. His undead touch, unfortunately, spreads to which of the following otherwise inanimate objects in the Sandpoint fields?

Answer: Scarecrows

With Farmer Hambley in tow asking to investigate the local farms due to a recent outbreak of ghouls, the explorers will head into the fields, perhaps with some local guards, to ensure that the locals are getting along okay. What they'll find, however, is that the Skinsaw Man certainly did leave his mark, transforming some of the scarecrows in the fields into ghouls and putting many people in danger.

The Craesby Farm will be the main landmark; here they'll find the key to 'Misgivings' (as he was the caretaker) and all signs will point to that manor... once the threat in the fields has been neutralized.
4. Is Foxglove Manor found within the walls of Sandpoint?

Answer: No

Although Foxglove Manor, better known to locals as 'Misgivings', is in the area, it's further along the coastline situated on a cliff overlooking the sea. The whole place is dilapidated and Aldern Foxglove, the owner (who was in Sandpoint for the Swallowtail Festival and the Goblin raid of 'Burnt Offerings'), has set out to fix it up...but he's gone missing of course.

The spirits of the house are so strong and resilient that any attempts to destroy it, within or outside, before the Skinsaw Murder assailant is found will be fruitless.

Its long, sordid history only serves to haunt the grounds.
5. Visiting Foxglove Manor can be quite frightening due to the triggering of Haunts throughout. Which of these rooms does not contain a Haunt?

Answer: Dining Room

The majority of rooms in Foxglove Manor actually contain Haunts, each of which will act as challenges for those exploring its corridors. Some are simply frightening encounters used to ramp up tension and allude to tragic or horrifying events in Misgivings while some will actually harm those who come into contact with them.

The main hall, for instance, can provoke the hallucination of a flaming manticore; the library will be home to a strangling and murder; in the dancing parlor you can embrace the twisted corpse of a past denizen.

The higher into the building you go, the deadlier the Haunts can be. They'll only stop when you investigate the vault in the basement... and destroy everything growing inside.
6. The ghost of Iesha Foxglove, Aldern's former lover, can be found in which part of Foxglove Manor?

Answer: Attic

Provided those exploring Misgivings make it to the top floor, they can find the revenant spirit of Iesha (whose portrait can be found elsewhere in the house). Iesha will only attack if provoked and will, otherwise, lead a charge directly to her murderer and former lover, Aldern... straight into the basement to Vorel's lab where she'll smash through a vault door and reveal the Skinsaw Man himself -- Aldern, in a ghoulish, inhuman form.

After the battle, the Haunts in the house will be put to rest if the explorers destroy Vorel's final roots on the property.

They'll also be pointed to the city of Magnimar, home of the Brothers of the Seven, where they can hunt down the one responsible for the Skinsaw Cult -- Xanesha.
7. Which of these large creatures can be found at the bottom of a well leading into the basement of Foxglove Manor?

Answer: Dire bat

Amongst the many supernatural elements of Misgivings, the well on the property will be home to a dire bat should anyone venture inside. If no one's willing to take the plunge into the tunnels there, there's also an access point from the basement proper.

This may be a way to gain access to the property without having to unlock the front door, but it does, of course, involve a battle against a very large, powerful bat. The creature has a surprising amount of influence on the environment in the basement. Any food he doesn't eat ends up coming back from the dead to some extent.
8. If one were to visit Aldern's townhouse in Magnimar after clearing out Foxglove Manor, what would the find inside?

Answer: A double of Aldern Foxglove

Surprisingly, if one were to head to Magnimar after clearing out Misgivings and knock on the door of the Foxglove townhouse they would be met at the entrance by none other than Aldern and Iesha, both of whom are actually Faceless Stalkers posing on behalf of the Brothers of the Seven to protect the remaining part of the Skinsaw Cult. Defeating the two undead creatures will allow for a thorough search of the premises leading onward to the Seven's Sawmill across the city -- the next destination.
9. At the top of the Seven's Sawmill, one would be likely to find what evilly-charmed leader of the Skinsaw Cult in Magnimar?

Answer: Justice Ironbriar

On Haldmeer Grobaras' urging and pointed in the right direction by clues in Aldern Foxglove's townhouse, anyone exploring will likely arrive at the Seven's Sawmill on the riverside in Magnimar. The place is a hotbed for Skinsaw Cultists who'll use the building and its dangerous implements to do battle.

At the top of the building is Justice Ironbriar, the cleric responsible for this sect, and defeating him (in battle or otherwise) will point any heroes toward the last stand of the Skinsaw Cult: the Lamia leader Xanesha.
10. Where can Xanesha be found?

Answer: Atop the Shadow Clock

Time should not be wasted after dispatching Ironbriar, so a quick trek to Magnimar's Shadow Clock, built in the darkness beneath the ruined bridge, is necessary. The place is in disuse and can be difficult to climb, notably because of the giant scarecrow on the ground floor and large bells which can tumble from the ceiling at any moment. Reaching the top, however, one can find the Lamia matriarch, Xanesha, and upon defeating her (and avoiding plummeting off the side of the building) they will end the chapter and the Skinsaw Murders once and for all.
