Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Karzoug's agents are on the move, and Sandpoint is the next target on their itinerary. They seek the Hellstorm Plume, an ancient Thassilonian site now known by what name?

Answer: The Old Light

New foes, as it seems, are emerging from the Storval Plateau under the guidance of the evil Runelord Karzoug, and their goal is to take some valuable pieces of information from within The Old Light, an ancient Thassilonian site. Of course, this does involve a great deal of assault and the foes from the north will use everything at their disposal, notably stone giants, to pillage the village and extract the bits they need. Certain events will lead the heroes to discover that Sandpoint is next on the list, specifically the destruction of other landmarks along the Varisian coast and, possibly, the tracking of the stone giants south of the Storval region and, eventually, east of Sandpoint itself.
2. Who of these leads the stone giants on their raid of Sandpoint?

Answer: Teraktinus

Teraktinus, a stone giant himself, is led by an even more powerful stone giant in Jorgenfist, and when the heroes of the campaign return to Sandpoint (or don't, perhaps) they'll be forced to battle wave after wave of stone giant onslaught from different entry points.

The battle will begin with a distraction in the north before emerging elsewhere in the city. Teraktinus himself will enter from the Mill Pond region shortly after the Northgate attack and another rush from Tanner's Bridge. Meanwhile, other battles will commence in Sandpoint's upper-class region to the south, particularly Scarnetti Manor. Of course, that's not all...
3. The stone giant have a secret weapon to use in their raid against Sandpoint. What is the name of the dragon who sets fire to the local buildings?

Answer: Longtooth

If the stone giant and their dire bears weren't enough, Sandpoint will also feel the heat when a juvenile red dragon, Longtooth, descends from the skies less than a minute after the first attacks at Northgate. Without a way to stop this foe, the Garrison, Cathedral, and other major landmarks in Sandpoint will burn down. Clever coordination is required to keep the town from being lost in this manner and, of course, it's just one more on a list of issues to face in this major battle. Luckily, Longtooth is one of the final major enemies to appear. If the heroes defeat him and Teraktinus or force back the army well enough to call a success, the remaining Stone Giants should be non-issues by comparison.
4. To reach Jorgenfist, you would most likely need to navigate what nearby geological feature?

Answer: The Storval Stairs

After the assault on Sandpoint it's likely that at least one stone giant will have been captured by the members of the Garrison, allowing for an interrogation with enough tact. Should this go well, information can be given in droves including the name of the leader of the stone giants, the next location on the heroes' itinerary, and how to get there. What results is a trip onward to the Iron Peaks to ascend the Storval Stairs, a Thassilonian landmark leading up to the Storval Plateau, the home of Jorgenfist.

The trip isn't an easy one; the stairs are guarded, of course. To prevent further attacks, however, and find a new lead en route to Karzoug, it's a must to get to this region by some means...though it's not the only way.
5. How many stone giant tribes have encampments around the Black Tower of Jorgenfist?

Answer: Seven

Anyone reaching Jorgenfist will be able to assess the severity of the danger almost immediately. The Black Tower, the central hub for the stone giants and their leader, is surrounded by seven encampments of stone giants, some of which have been led in the past by familiar faces (one was led by Barl Breakbones, seen in Hook Mountain).

The giants have been barred entry to the fortress in the center, so safety, to an extent, can be found there, but getting inside may be difficult, especially if the heroes make a noble, yet foolish attempt to force their way in with combat.
6. Those wishing to take a stealthier approach to entering Jorgenfist can actually access it from which of the following?

Answer: Caves near the river

While heading up from the Storval Stairs may seem like the go-to option for accessing the lair in the center of Jorgenfist, clever adventurers will likely exercise more than one alternative for gaining entry. Perhaps the cleverest means of doing so is by checking down the cliffs along the river southeast of Jorgenfist; the caves in the side, while populated by spiders, actually lead directly into the pits and caverns beneath the towering structure with little need to break through the defences. While there is also a cave atop a nearby mountain, it's actually the former home of Longtooth the dragon...and it contains his hoard.
7. The Mummified Monk found in Jorgenfist's Black Tower holds which of the following?

Answer: Cryptex

Surprisingly, none of the rest of the inside of Jorgenfist holds anything of value to the mission-- you'd have to head to the Black Tower and find the trapdoor in the floor to get a new lead. Down in the crypts the Black Monk, the mummified denizen of the Black Tower, can be found clutching a sealed tube with a combination lock, essentially a cryptex, which, when opened, will allow the user to read the contents inside and, eventually, gain access to the Thassilonian library below Jorgenfist. Surprisingly, even without the use of his legs, this undead creature packs a powerful punch and will stop at nothing to protect the scrolls he's sworn to keep safe.
8. Which of the following can not be found in the caves beneath Jorgenfist?

Answer: Ooze

Under Jorgenfist's Therassic Monastery, one can access the caves leading to the Ancient Thassilonian Library. Of course, getting there is no easy feat, regardless of if the heroes have entered via Jorgenfist proper or via the caves near the river. The caverns are filled with stone giants and lamias who, using their charms, have convinced two red dragons to do their bidding. Likewise, a hill giant by the name of Lokansir guards a chamber marked with a large Sihedron Rune to the northeast. Really, the goal is to make it to the southeast corner of the labyrinthine caves, as these will lead to the library proper, and all of its traps and secrets.
9. Which word best describes the librarian in the Library of Thassilion?

Answer: Clockwork

Although there are many trap-filled chambers outside the Library proper, once you gain entry to the archives beneath Jorgenfist the ability to soak up knowledge may be marred a bit by the Clockwork Librarian. While he'll only fight if provoked to, he was simply created to see over the room and ensure its safety and organization. Only speaking in Thassilonian, the librarian knows the entirety of the library's contents, but the right questions need to be asked if the heroes wish to seek out Karzoug, or at least the way to stopping him.
10. What is the name of the leader of the stone giants who organized the raid on Sandpoint and can be found beneath Jorgenfist?

Answer: Mokmurian

Mokmurian, who waits in his main chamber near the Library of Thassilon, likely knows of the arrival of the heros, having planted many precautionary triggers throughout the nearby chambers. As such, he'll often be at an advantage going into battle, keeping everyone at a far enough distance with magic and fog spells to gain the upper hand.

When the heroes defeat Mokmurian, the stone giants will no longer have a leader and likely dissolve their encampments outside. Karzoug, meanwhile, will use the dead Mokmurian as a conduit to let the party know that he's aware of their advances.

In the meantime, there's still much to do before advancing on Karzoug in Xin-Shalast.
