Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1987 the Urban Juice and Soda Company Ltd. was formed in which city? It was, of course, later changed to the Jones Soda Company.

Answer: Seattle, WA

Thankfully, Peter van Stolk founded this company in 1987 so he could distribute alternative beverages like Arizona Iced Tea. Urban Juice and Soda Company Ltd was a follow-up enterprise to van Stolk's first company, Urban Hand, which he formed in his home city of Edmonton Alberta Canada.

In 1996, Urban Juice and Soda Company created and distributed their delicious Jones Soda. On August 1, 2000, they changed their name to Jones Soda Company.
2. Jones Soda was first released to the public in 1996 with six original, non-carbonated, delights. Which one of these flavors was not one of them?

Answer: Green Apple

Jones Soda was developed in 1995 and released in January 1996. The first six flavors were: Grape, Strawberry Lime, Orange, Lemon Lime, Cherry, and Raspberry which, as of 2006 was retired though talks of its return were ensuing.
3. In 1997, a whole new batch of soda goodness entered the world. Which one of these was not a Jones product released then?

Answer: Pineapple Upside Down

1997 brought us such treats as Rootbeer, Vanilla Cola, Cream Soda (yes, they have normal flavors), Fufu Berry, and Blue Bubblegum. Pineapple Upside Down, along with its brothers Slim Jones and Green Apple didn't see the world until the next year, 1998.
4. Imagine: It is late 2000 and you are walking through a store while having a strong craving for a Jones Soda. In which store would you be lucky enough to acquire the rich, sweet, goodness of a Jones?

Answer: Meijer

There are few places to find the sweetness of a Jones! Fortunately, as of 2006, Meijer, 7-Eleven, Safeway, Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, World Market, Woodman's, and Panera possess the soda. It is also available in the lesser format, cans, at Target (which brings us to . . .)
5. Jones Soda has always been famous for their bottles, featuring random black and white photographs on them. On October 12, 2004 which company helped change this image by signing a deal with them to sell a can form of Jones?

Answer: Target

"Dude you can only find these at Target stores." That is a direct quote from the fun website www.jonessoda.com. The deal was with Target, but have no fear because the kind people at Jones used photos submitted by fans to decorate the boxes of the twelve-packs.

The flavors available at the release were Green Apple, Cream Soda, Strawberry Lime, Blue Bubblegum, Root Beer, and Sugar-Free Black Cherry.
6. In 2003, the creative people at Jones Soda gave us all a holiday treat. They made Turkey and Gravy Soda. Which holiday were they helping us celebrate by doing this?

Answer: Thanksgiving

In 2003, the people at Jones introduced Turkey and Gravy Soda which was not expected to do well. They sold out in two hours although they were only available in selected areas of Michigan and Washington. Oh well, 2004 brought a better palette of drinks which included Green Bean Casserole, Mashed Potatoes, Cranberry, and Fruitcake (along with the Turkey and Gravy classic). Yummy, a five course meal in liquid form.
7. Beginning in 2000, Jones Soda Company created a five-pack featuring an entire holiday meal. Anyway, Jones made mountains of money from this crazy treat and donated their profits to which charity?

Answer: Toys for Tots

That's right! What kind folk to use their genius to help children! The sets were sold for sixteen dollars though many people did resell them online (at places like Ebay) for at least $100 each. Luckily, they have continued this so we have a Jones holiday tradition.
8. On October 20, 2004, Jones Soda Company announced that they created which soda flavored product?

Answer: lip balm

Ahhh, yes, lip-smacking good! These lip balms came in Green Apple, Blue Bubblegum, Orange and Cream, and Strawberry Lime. They were also SPF 15, had vitamin E, aloe vera, and UVA/UVB protection. Sadly, the other three options do not exist though a Cream Soda flavored pencil would be quite delectable.
9. Consumers can submit their photographs to be used for the labels but in which other way can we, as a public, use our skills to contribute to the Jones Soda look?

Answer: Submit fortunes for the bottlecap.

You see the magically, cool, refreshing bottle of Jones Soda, turn the cap, and look under it before taking the first drink. What is that? A fortune; all of them are submitted by consumers and fans ranging from wise to random but, as the fashion with Jones Soda, the more obscure the better.
Here are some examples: "An apple a day keeps the doctor away-only if you throw it hard enough."
"The truth is, banana peels just aren't slippery."
"When life hands you lemons, squeeze the juice into a squirt gun and shoot it into other people's eyes!"

Despite the trend, the fortunes need not have a fruit theme.
10. In 2006, Jones Soda Company offered another amazing addition to the Jones product family. Which concoction did they give us?

Answer: candy

"Here at Jones Soda, we decided that we just don't give our consumers enough ways to experience our delicious flavors." Amen to that! That is a direct quote from the Jones Soda website.
With the help of Big Brand Inc., they created the Jones Booster Candy in Green Apple, Fufu Berry, and Blue Bubblegum. This candy was like a mint but also can be used in water to give it the extremely unique Jones taste.

The next time you hear the word "Jones" think of the joys of the soda!
