1. Supposing you had a 'vade-mecum' and wanted somewhere to keep it, where is the most obvious place for you to put it?

Answer: In your pocket

A vade-mecum, being Latin for go with me, is a handbook or pocket companion.
2. If you were standing in a building and suddenly heard a 'vagitus' sound, where do you think is the most obvious place you would be?

Answer: Hospital

A vagitus is the cry of a new born child, which translates from the Latin word vagire, meaning squall, (quite appropriate).
3. Supposing you went to your doctor's surgery and showed him your symptoms. He told you it was 'varus' and gave you something for it. What is the more recognised name for it?

Answer: Acne

Varus is the Latin and medical name for acne.
4. A friend of yours told you he had just been on holiday and managed to see a 'vendace'. Where had he seen it?

Answer: In a lake

A vendace is a small fresh water fish. The word comes from the Old French word vendese.
