Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. We first meet Gaspode in "Moving Pictures". Which of these facts is not a characteristic of Gaspode?

Answer: he can walk on his hindlegs

During "Moving Pictures", Gaspode can talk because of Holy Wood magic. He himself says that he has so many diseases that the only reason he's still alive is that they're too busy fighting each other to worry about him.
2. There's another dog that Gaspode takes pity on and befriends in "Moving Pictures". What is its name?

Answer: Laddie

Laddie is brought in to star in the clicks, and at first Gaspode is jealous of him, but then he shows him how he has a good time around Holy Wood and the two become good friends.
3. Gaspode appears again in later books, this time as Foul Ole Ron's what?

Answer: thinking-brain dog

Foul Ole Ron is a member of the Canting Crew, and doesn't say much else other than "Bugrit" or "Millenium Hand and Shrimp", and so he needs Gaspode to do his thinking (and talking) for him.
4. In "Making Money", we meet a new dog: Mr Fusspot. What's special about Mr Fusspot?

Answer: he inherits 51% of the Royal Ankh-Morpork Bank

Upon his death, Sir Joshua Lavish left 50% of the Bank's shares to his wife, Topsy Lavish, and 1% to Mr Fusspot. When Mrs Lavish passed away herself, she left her half of the bank to Mr Fusspot, whom she willed to Moist von Lipwig.
5. At the end of "Making Money", Vetinari adopts Mr Fusspot. Before this, he had previously had another dog: Wuffles. What was Wuffles's favourite treat?

Answer: Trucklement's Yummy Assortment

According to Cosmo Lavish, Vetinari visits Wuffles's grave once a week and leaves a Trucklement's Yummy Assortment on the grave (but never a yellow one - Wuffles hated those!)
6. In "Carpe Jugulum", we meet Igor's pet Thcrapth. What's unusual about Thcrapth?

Answer: he has two tails

Thcrapth, in traditional Igor fashion, is made up of lots of parts of different dogs. He's as happy as a dog with two tails - because he has two tails!
7. Lupine, a wolf that turns into a man under a full moon, runs away to elope with who?

Answer: Ludmilla Cake

Lupine is a wolf for three weeks of a month, but once a month, under a full moon, he becomes a wolf-man. Ludmilla is a traditional werewolf (human three weeks of the year, wolf the other one). How their relationship works is a complicated one.
8. In "Interesting Times", what is the Barking Dog?

Answer: a cannon

The Barking Dog was returned in exchange for Rincewind, and the wizards extinguish it. When it is returned, the wizards make sure to relight it so that it goes back exactly as it was.
9. Although not technically dogs, there are several werewolf characters in Terry Pratchett's works, such as Angua von Überwald. How many siblings did Angua have?

Answer: three

Angua has two brothers and one sister, although only one of them (Wolfgang) is a werewolf too. Her other siblings are yennorks - Andrei is stuck in wolf shape and Elsa is stuck in human form.
10. In "Men at Arms", Gaspode introduces Angua to the Dogs' Guild. Who was the leader of the Dogs' Guild?

Answer: Big Fido

Big Fido is a small white poodle with a diamante collar. He plummets to his death after trying to leap across two roofs after Angua.
