According to Zelazny, Amber is the only true world and all the rest, including the Earth, are reflections of it. There are ten books which are presented in two cycles. The first cycle, the Corwin cycle, includes the books "Nine Princes in Amber", "The Guns of Avalon", "Sign of the Unicorn", "The Hand of Oberon" and "The Courts of Chaos".

Roger Zelazny was born in Ohio and died in New Mexico. He won three times the Nebula award and six times the Hugo award. One of his best books is the award winner "Lord of Light".
2. Barsoom

Answer: Edgar Rice Burroughs

Barsoom is the fictional world created on Mars. The main protagonist is John Carter. Burroughs produced ten books of stories about Barsoom; the first was titled "A Princess of Mars" and the last one "Llana of Gathol".

Burroughs was born in Chicago and died in Encino, California. He also created the "Tarzan", "Pellucidar" and "Venus" series.
3. Narnia

The "Chronicles of Narnia" is a series of seven books that give a detailed description of the mythical land. The first book in the series was "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ". Later C.S. Lewis wrote the book "The Magician's Nephew", which he considered as a prequel to the first book. The protagonists of the books are children who magically cross over to Narnia. C.S. Lewis wanted the books to be read in a different order than the publication order.

Lewis was born in Belfast and died in Oxford. He wrote both fiction and nonfiction books.
4. Discworld

This amazing flat world rests on the backs of four elephants which stand on the back of a giant turtle! The world consists of places that are not unlike places on earth. Here you can find, among other creatures, humans, elves, dwarves, vampires, trolls, witches, wizards and death personified! Most of the books are centred on the city of Ankh-Morpork but also include lands like Lancre, Genua, Unerwald, Klatch, and XXXX.

Some of the books include "The Colour of Magic", "Equal Rites", "Wyrd Sisters" and "Hogfather".
5. Earthsea

Earthsea is set of islands in an uncharted sea. There are hundreds of islands the largest of which is called Havnor. The islands are inhabited mostly by people with dark brown complexion. Magic forms part of the society, and can be enhanced by exercising a lot.

The series includes short stories and novels. "A Wizard of Earthsea" was the first book in the series and was followed by "The Tombs of Atuan". The last book in the series was "The Other Wind". Ursula K. Le Guin was born in California and died in Oregon.

She wrote poetry, fiction, nonfiction and did translations to name but a few.
6. Fantastica

Fantastica is the setting of most of the book "The Neverending Story" or "Die unendliche Geschichte" in German. The book's main character, Bastian, finds the book in a book store and takes it to the attic of his school where he starts reading it. He is magically transported to Fantastica, where he travels the land telling stories and at the same time losing memories of his life on Earth.

Michael Ende was born in Bavaria, Germany and died in Baden-Wurttemberg. He wrote children's fiction and fantasy books. Some of his works are "Momo", "The Night of Wishes", "Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver" and "The Dram Eater".
7. Gondwane

In the distant future, all of the world's continents have merged together to form Gondwane (World's End). There are six books in the series "World's End": "The Warrior", "The Enchantress", "The Immortal", "The Barbarian", "The Pirate" and "The Giant".

Lin Carter (Linwood Vrooman Carter) was born in Florida and died in New Jersey. He wrote fiction and fantasy books. He completed "Conan" and "Krull" stories in what is known as posthumous collaborations with Robert E. Howard. He also wrote stories concerning "Cthulhu Mythos" of H.P. Lovecraft.
8. Helliconia

Answer: Brian Aldiss

Helliconia is an Earth-like planet that has an incredibly long year, 2500 earth years, and seasons that change very slowly. A space station from Earth observes the planet with strict orders not to interfere. There are three books in the series: "Helliconia Spring", "Helliconia Summer" and "Helliconia Winter".

Brain Wilson Aldiss was born in Norfolk and died in Oxford. He wrote science fiction, short stories and edited anthologies. Some of his novels include "Non-Stop", "The Primal Urge", "Hothouse" and "Greybeard".
9. Inkworld

Answer: Cornelia Funke

Inkworld is at the centre of a trilogy of books: "Inheart","Inkspell" and "Inkdeath". The heroine of the books is Maggie, who discovers that her father can bring to life characters from books that he reads.

Cornelia Funke was born in Dorsten, Germany and wrote children's fiction. She wrote the series "MirrorWorld", "Ghosthunters" and "C.H.I.X".
10. Jumanji

Answer: Chris Van Allsburg

"Jumanji" was a picture book written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg. It is about a board game that comes to life when played. It was made into a film starring Robin Williams.

Chris Van Allsburg was born in Michigan. He writes children's books some of which are "The Garden of Abdul Gasazi", "Polar Express", "The Stranger" and "The Wretched Stone". He won two Caldecott Medals, for "Jumanji" and "Polar Express".
