Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the 74th Hunger Games, two tributes are chosen from District 12. A girl and a boy tribute. One of the tributes is Katniss Everdeen. Who is the boy tribute from District 12?

Answer: Peeta Mellark

Peeta Mellark is the baker's son. He once helped Katniss when they were young. He had given her a piece of bread as she and her family were starving. He has also had a crush on Katniss Everdeen since they were five and he heard her sing. He is good at throwing and lifting up heavy objects and also particularly good at camouflage.
2. What is the name of the District 12 representative who is known to wear a pink wig and to say "May the odds be EVER in your favour"?

Answer: Effie

Effie truly supports the District 12 tributes with all her heart, but she is still depressed about having the worst district. She has a Capitol accent that gets her made fun of by the District people. She also dislikes those who don't have table manners.
3. Each district is special in its own way and is known to produce different things. District 12 is known for its coal. What is District 3's main production?

Answer: Electronics

District 3 has good engineers and most of the population works in factories. They are very intelligent and so was the boy tribute from District 3 in the 74th Hunger Games. He helped the Careers set a trap with mines that would blow off the instant something touched the ground where their supplies were kept. In the end, he was killed by Cato's hand when he had broken his neck.
4. What was the thing that Katniss wanted the most from the Cornucopia; it even made her change her mind for an instant about going against her instructor's plan to run away from the Cornucopia?

Answer: Bow and arrows

Katniss was a natural with bows and arrows. She had practiced almost all her life hunting in the woods with her dad, and later, Gale, her best friend. She could shoot anything by just listening to it. For her, the bow and the arrows were essential for her survival.

But she was distracted by Peeta at the last minute, and had to give up on going for them and decided to go for lesser but nearer treasure, like the bag.
5. Who killed Rue, the female tribute from District 11?

Answer: Boy from District 1

The boy tribute from District 1 had shot Rue with a spear in her abdomen when she was caught in a trap that he had set up. When Katniss saw this, she threw an arrow right at his neck and he died almost instantly. It was Katniss' first direct kill that she had actually meant to do.
6. Who throws the knife at Katniss Everdeen in the beginning when she is fleeing from the Cornucopia, and ends up giving her a good knife for later use?

Answer: Clove

As Katniss gets the orange bag and is ready to flee the area, she hears a knife hit the back of her bag. It was sent by Clove but her bag protected her. She now has a knife to use, which comes in very handy during the Hunger Games.
7. Why did Katniss decide to go to the Feast?

Answer: to get medicine for Peeta

As the announcement of the Feast is broadcast all over the arena, Katniss is determined that she will get the medicine for Peeta because it's her only hope of saving him. Peeta though, refuses to let Katniss risk her life and go into the open just to get medicine for him. So, Haymitch sends Katniss a gift, which turns out to be sleeping syrup and Katniss realizes what she can do with it.

She makes Peeta fall asleep a moment before he realizes it and runs off to the feast to get the bag with District Number 12 on it.
8. As Clove is getting ready to kill Katniss brutally, who finally comes to Katniss' rescue and kills off Clove?

Answer: Thresh

Katniss comes to the feast and just as the bags appear, she sees Foxface quickly take hers away and run into the woods. She admires her actions and decides that she doesn't have much of a choice but to do the same. So, she runs for it and soon, a knife comes hailing towards her. That one misses but the next one hits her right above her eyebrow, where she starts bleeding and everything goes dizzy.

She has her bag, but Clove comes and threatens to kill her. She says that she'll give the audience a good show and talks about Rue.

Then, she begins to cut around Katniss' lips but Thresh soon comes, pulls Clove away from Katniss and then smacks a rock in her head. Then he lets Katniss go because she had been Rue's ally and had tried to save her life.
9. How did Foxface die?

Answer: She ate nightlock, which are poisonous berries

When Katniss and Peeta decided to go hunting, Katniss told Peeta to gather food while she hunted animals because he was making too much noise. Peeta was not very familiar with picking his food and he had gathered poisonous berries knows as nightlock. Foxface was known to steal food from other Tributes, as she had done with the Careers and didn't doubt the berries since Peeta had picked them out to eat for himself and Katniss. So, she ate them and died and was taken away from the hovercraft after the cannon went off.

At first Peeta thought that Cato was nearby and had killed him, but Katniss knew that she had died because of the berries that Peeta had picked, for she had recognized them from her daily trips into the woods with her father, who had told her never to eat them.
10. How did Cato die?

Answer: Katniss shot him with an arrow

When there were only three tributes left - Katniss, Peeta and Cato - the Gamemakers decided to bring them together and made all of the water sources dry, which led Katniss and Peeta to think that they wanted them to go near the lake. When they did, they saw Cato running, but it was the muttations he was running from.

After they escaped from the muttations by climbing on top of the Cornucopia, Cato steadied himself and threatened drop Peeta to the ground where the muttations were if Katniss shot him. So, she shot his arm, which made him let go of Peeta, who managed to gain his balance. Cato fell to the ground and the muttations started killing him. Because he had a full-body armour, they didn't get the job done and he was screaming in pain. When Katniss saw him, she felt pity for him, and decided to stop it by sending an arrow at him and ending his life.
