Elros and Elrond were half-elven. They were given the choice of their own destiny. Elrond chose to remain an elf and became Master of Rivendell and fathered Arwen, while Elros chose to become a man and became the first King of Numenor. He was a direct ancestor of Aragorn.

Sauron was of the maia, and had a part in all Melkor's deeds upon Arda. When Melkor was held captive by the Valar, Sauron ruled and forged the One Ring.

The orcs were made by Melkor from elves whom he captured, corrupted and enslaved, and thus created in mockery of the elves. The dwarves were made by Aule, who could not wait for the Children of Iluvatar to come to Arda. The Ents were created by Yavanna, and they were given life by Eru.

They were stolen by the sons of Feanor, Maedhros and Maglor but the Silmarils caused them pain, and so Maedhros cast himself into a gaping chasm filled with fire. Maglor cast his into the sea, and thereafter wandered upon the shores. The silmaril that was stolen by Beren and Luthien was sent into the airs of Heaven by the Valar.
