Dior, although distantly related to them, had one Silmaril in his possession, and was therefore attacked by the sons of Feanor. He managed to kill Celegorm, Caranthir and Curufin before being killed himself.

After Carcharoth swallowed Beren's hand containing the Silmaril, he turned insane. A hunting party was sent out to prevent him from doing damage to the Hidden Realm of Doriath. Huan the Hound of Valinor eventually killed Carcharoth and was killed by him.
