Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where is Captain Sparrow?

Answer: Davey Jones's Locker

In the beginning of the movie, Elizabeth, Barbossa and Will are all on a hunt to find both the Black Pearl and Jack. To do this, they must go to the world's end, which means that they have to go over a magnificent waterfall.

The Locker, for Jack, is a salt flat, with no water in sight. His ship is crewed by multiple versions of himself.
2. Where do we find Elizabeth and Barbossa at the beginning?

Answer: Singapore

Will is at Singapore, in the lair of the Pirate Lord Sao Feng, trying to steal the map that would lead them to the World's End. Singapore is where they will be able to get the map that will lead them to Davey Jones's Locker, in order to find Jack. Unfortunately, he is caught. Barbossa and Elizabeth (and crew) are able to save him, and escape from the Royal Navy with the map.

They also escape with a crew made up of both their men and some of Sao Feng's men.
3. Which is the only ship fast enough to catch the Flying Dutchman?

Answer: The Black Pearl

Will needs the Black Pearl, which lies in Davey Jones's Locker, along with Jack, in order to catch the Flying Dutchman. To free his father, he needs the fastest ship available, which is the Pearl. Elizabeth is surprised at the extremes he goes to in order to save his father, though.
4. Which character sees multiple versions of him or herself?

Answer: Captain Jack Sparrow

As we see Jack in the Locker, there are multiple versions of himself. One theory on this is that the different sides of his personality were split, giving him the crew of himself. Later though, even after he is rescued, he still sees multiple versions of himself, including one that loses his brain.

A theory as to why he still sees himself, is that he was driven mad from being in the Locker, by himself. These theories come from both the Internet Movie Database and Movie Mistakes.
5. What item does Jack shoot someone over?

Answer: A Peanut

He shoots himself for half a peanut, really, while he's still in the Locker. When Jack is in the brig, one of him finds a peanut and proceeds to eat it. At the end of the movie, Barbossa feeds Jack (the monkey) a peanut, again reminding us of the peanut.
6. Who is declared to be the Pirate King?

Answer: Captain Swann

Will doesn't have a vote, and neither does Teague, although he is a Captain. One problem with the nine Pirate Lords is that they will only vote for themselves, a problem which Jack solves. Since he and Elizabeth both want the same thing (to go to war), he votes for her, making it a vote of two to everyone else's one.

At first, none of the other Pirate Lords want that to happen, but Jack reminds them that they were going to go against the Code, so they stop fighting and agreed that she will the Pirate King.
7. The "nine peices of eight," required for transforming Tia Dalma, are all coins.

Answer: False

Unfortunately, in the beginning, the Pirate Lords were all poor. They didn't have nine of anything, so they used whatever they could. In this case, it turned out to be an odd mish-mash of items, from a wooden eye, to a playing card, to a small metal cup. Everyone assumes that it is a coin they are talking about, but as we find out, that isn't true.
8. Which goddess is Tia Dalma?

Answer: Calypso

Tia Dalma is the goddess Calypso, the goddess of the sea, trapped in a human body. She was trapped by the first Brethren Council, and the first gathering, which included Davey Jones. He told them how to trap her because she betrayed him severely by not being there when his 10th year was at an end.
9. Who stabs the heart?

Answer: Will Turner

Will stab the heart as he lays there, dying, insuring that Will would survive, in a way. After Davey Jones is killed, the ship needs a new Captain, who turns out to be Will. With Will at the helm, the ship is free of the curse that turned the crew into fish-men. He's still cursed, however, to transport the souls, or risk turning into a fish-man like Davey Jones.
10. Do Will and Elizabeth get married?

Answer: Yes

In the midst of the fight between the Pearl and the Flying Dutchman, Will and Elizabeth are married by Barbossa. They are interrupted several times, but each time, just continue to say their vows to each other, with Barbossa helping, as he also fights the fish-people.
