Sid James was born in South Africa. He trained as a barber but took up performing in the forces. He emigrated to England after World War Two. He had a long and varied career with roles ranging from violent henchman to a stalwart of the "Carry On" films. He died in 1976.

Charles Hawtrey was dropped from the "Carry On" films after this film. This was because of a row with the producer about a silver star he had stuck to his dressing room door. This took place during filming of the "Carry On Laughing" television series. Hawtrey was also involved with arguments relating to billing issues, relating to the series. Peter Rogers, the producer of the films and the television shows, was of the firm view that the series was a sum of the team and not the individual actors.

Terry Scott was born in Watford. He was once reported to have said that he was always happy to appear in any "Carry On" film however small the part because he enjoyed doing them so much. He also formed a comedy partnership with June Whitfield in "Terry and June" on British television.

"Carry On At Your Convenience" was the least successful "Carry On" film in fact it took seven years to break even at the box office. It focuses on the W.C. Boggs and Sons toilet factory and the efforts of the union shop steward to continually bring the workforce out on strike for the slightest reason.

It is believed that its portrayal of the unions in such a negative light alienated the "Carry On" series usual working class audience.

"Carry On England" was the story of a split male and female army platoon who took whatever opportunity to avoid their duties and to fraternise after hours, whilst trying to undermine and humiliate their commanding officer Captain S. Melly (Kenneth Connor).

"Carry On Up The Khyber" is the epic tale of the kilt wearing, 3rd foot and mouth regiment, also known as the "devils in skirts". The soldiers are so feared by the local natives because legend has it the regiment wear nothing under their kilts in battle.

The reputation of the regiment lies in tatters when Private Widdle (Charles Hawtrey) faints on duty at the Khyber Pass and has his thermal underwear stolen by a native.
