Writer, Talbot Rothwell, fully comfortable in his writing for the series, crafted a small but compact cast of regular team members. The last black and white entry in the film series, it is full of in-jokes for the real film buff. In a camp twist on the James Bond theme, the writer wanted to call Charles Hawtrey's character Charlie Bond - 001 and a half.

However, incensed and humourless Bond producer Harry Salzman threatened legal action and so Hawtrey became Charlie Bind - 0. 0. 0. (delivered as 'Oo - oo, Ooh!').

For the immortal exercise sequence, Barbara Windsor's bra was tied to a fishing line, held on to by some old lag at Pinewood Studios and was wrenched off at the right moment, Kenneth Williams yelling "Now let's really see those chests come out!" On the first take, Barbara was pulled off her feet into the mud, and put back on her feet ready for take two. Fearful of exposing any part of her anatomy, Barbara was determined to clutch her breasts the moment the bra was flung off. Wonderful timing and a "Carry On" landmark.
