Bogart, being sentimental, allows the the young man to win at roulette at "Rick's". Bergman didn't know it was going to be a classic. It is.

This is another one of Hollywood's most honored movies. Rhett and Scarlett - with the movie living up to the book. Everyone remembers the final line by Gable/Rhett.
