Answer: She was withdrawn by her mother

Despite being advised by her mum to try her best at school Estella ends up making enemies on her first day - three boys who rebuff her request for friendship. Her record book gets so blotted that the principal invites Estella's mother. He is about to announce Estella's expulsion, but her mum interrupts to say that she is withdrawing Estella from the school.

As a result, Estella and her mum decide to move south to London; but Estella's mother gets thrown off a cliff while requesting money from the Baronnes, leaving Estella to flee from the scene an orphan.

Answer: She becomes a pickpocket

She meets two boys, Jasper, a lean boy whom she describes as insightful, and Horace, a plump kid with a one eyed dog named Wink. She follows them to the top floor of an apparently abandoned building; the boys' hideout. The trio work together with the dogs as pickpockets in the streets of London.

Answer: To become a fashion designer

Although the trio make enough to live through stealing, Estella still hopes to accomplish her childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer. Her dream seems to have come true when the boys get her a job offer at Liberty, a fashion store, but it turns out that she is to work as a cleaner.

Her desire to make something is still strong, so she decides to redesign a dress on a particular night while drunk.

Answer: She says it is better than the rest of the displays.

The Baroness appears to like it and says it is "the best [she] has seen on their display for years". She gives Estella her card and invites her to Hellman House - the Baroness's place - where she gives Estella a job, this time as a fashion designer. Baroness also seems to like Estella's designs better than those of other workers.

Answer: A necklace

Estella decides to steal the necklace which had belonged to her mother, Catherine, by disguising as an alternate persona: Cruella, an evil-looking woman with half white, half black hair. The necklace had apparently fallen from Estella while she was running from Catherine's death scene. Cruella makes a dramatic appearance at a ball hosted by Baroness and executes her plan in collaboration with the boys and the dogs.

Answer: She blows her whistle and points at Estella's dog.

This very action reminds Estella of Catherine's death: the baroness had also blown a whistle and pointed at Catherine. Estella's self guilt is removed by this realization, for she had blamed herself for Catherine's death for a long time. Depression descends on her, and she makes a decision. "I've heard of the stages of depression," she says. "Anger, denial, repentance, acceptance. I am adding another one: revenge."

Answer: Killing her husband

Although she kidnaps Baroness's dalmatians in the hope that the one that swallowed the necklace which she had planned to steal would bring it out through the 'other end', this also serves as a revenge, as Baroness is attached to her dogs. Cruella appears at every ball hosted by Baroness and outshines her by wearing bold, Gothic dresses.

She also delays making good designs for Baroness as Estella. The Baroness's husband had died a long time ago.

Answer: John, Baroness's most trusted man, drags her out of the fire.

It turns out that John had taken pains to drag her out of the fire and salvage the necklace, too. Although they had tried to loosen the ropes, the dogs were unable to cut it and ran away. Jasper and Horace are framed as Cruella's killers and imprisoned.

Answer: Baroness is her mother

John reveals that Catherine was actually a maid whom John had given baby Estella to take care of against Baroness's wish that she be killed. Estella finally accepts the fact and decides to end things, but she promises Jasper - whom she broke out of prison with Horace - that she won't kill Baroness.

Answer: She has a parachute.

Pretending to hug her, the Baroness pushes Estella off the cliff. Fortunately, Estella has a parachute; and the Baroness is seen by her guests and apprehended by the police. Estella decides to become Cruella for good and also inherits Hellman Hall, which she renames Hell Hall.
