Cr - Cz Movies Trivia Questions

1. In "The Creation of the Humanoids" (1962), what was it that made the building of so many robots seem necessary at the time?

From Quiz
"The Creation of the Humanoids" (1962)

Answer: nuclear war killing over 90% of humanity

A nuclear war in the 23rd century killed 92% of the population of the Earth. Residual radiation reduced human fertility and concomitantly reduced the global birth rate to 1.4% which is less than that necessary to perpetuate humanity. The resulting society of survivors produces humanoid robots -- with superior intelligence, untiring, stronger, physically perfect -- to assist in rebuilding the civilisation. As people have grown more and more dependent upon robots' assistance, the demand for more and better robots increases to maintain the new standard of living. As a result, the population of robots is within a year of exceeding the number of people on Earth.

2. When young Estella was still in school, she earned herself a reputation as a stubborn student. What eventually happened to end her schooling?

From Quiz Cruella

Answer: She was withdrawn by her mother

Her record book gets so blotted that the principal invites Estella's mother. He is about to announce Estella's expulsion, but her mum interrupts to say that she is withdrawing Estella from the school. As a result, Estella and her mum decide to move south to London; but Estella's mother gets thrown off a cliff while requesting money from the Baronnes, leaving Estella to flee from the scene an orphan.

He refuses to return. Nonetheless, he's needed to sign off on a complex and high-value merger between two financial service firms. The truth is though, there are some complications. Lockhart could potentially go to prison-- they all could-- because of some allegations. But if he goes and retrieves Mr. Pembroke, they could all be fine.

4. During their date night, Emily tells Cal that she wants a divorce. Then on their way home, she tells him that she slept with somebody else. What does Cal do upon hearing this?

From Quiz Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Answer: Opens the car door and rolls out

Cal (played by Steve Carell) tells Emily (played by Julianne Moore) to stop the car, but before she pulls over, he opens the door and rolls out of the moving vehicle. Emily then stops the car, gets out and helps him. As soon as they get home, Cal blurts out to their babysitter, Jessica, that they're getting divorced and he jumped out of the car. 7. Who plays the role of Victor Frankenstein?

From Quiz The Curse of Frankenstein

Answer: Peter Cushing

Peter Cushing asked for the role of Victor Frankenstein after reading the script. He felt that he could add another dimension to the character of Baron Frankenstein, giving him a more human and less "mad scientist" persona. As Victor Frankenstein, Cushing is at his best, playing the dual personality of a dedicated scientist and an obsessed practitioner of never before performed science. Cushing succeeded so well, he went on to reprise the role six times. Christopher Lee plays The Creature. Karloff and Clive appeared in Universal's "Frankenstein" as the monster and the doctor respectively.

Answer: Angel County

Director Arthur Nelson (who also starred under the name of Vic Savage) set the movie in a nondescript area of Simi Valley, though writer Alan Silliphant wanted to have the movie set around Lake Tahoe. Supposedly, the original soundtrack to the movie did make it to the bottom of Lake Tahoe, as the urban legend goes, which was why the majority of the movie is narrated.

23. In "The Creation of the Humanoids" (1962), how do the humanoid robots differ visually from the humans?

From Quiz "The Creation of the Humanoids" (1962)

Answer: blue-green skin, metallic eyes, bald heads

The robots are electronic inside but are made to look like humans on the outside. They are the same size and shape as most people. Their skin has a synthetic look to it and is blue-green in colour. They lack hair, which was a challenge to Jack Pierce, who had done Boris Karloff's make-up in "Frankenstein" (1931), and to his make-up department. Latex rubber bald caps cover the actors' hair. Blue-green rubber gloves match the skin tones of their heads. They wear jumpsuits like those of the Metalunans in "This Island Earth" (1955). Their artificial uninflected voices are reminiscent of "Coneheads" (1993) from Remulak.

26. In which two countries was 'Crocodile Dundee' set?

From Quiz Crocodile Dundee

Answer: Australia and USA

'Crocodile Dundee' starts off in the Australian outback, before heading to the US when Mick (the main charaacter) is invited back by Sue (Journalist and Mick's eventual love interest in the film). The film was inspired by the real-life shenanigans of Rodney Ansell, who died in 1999 after a shootout with the local law enforcement officers. Ansell went missing in the Northern Territory of Australia in early-mid 1977. He claimed he was going on a fishing trip, yet when his boat capsized and sunk, he managed to retrieve his tender and travel to stay alive until he was rescued by two stockmen. It was later revealed that Ansell was out poaching crocodiles (not fishing) hence, the inspiration for Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee.

27. In the film, Jack Hawkins played the role of Lieutenant Commander George Ericson, the Commanding Officer of the warship featured in the movie. What was the name of the ship?

From Quiz Classic War Movies - "The Cruel Sea"

Answer: HMS Compass Rose

HMS Compass Rose was a flower class Corvette, purposely built for convoy escort duties in an anti-submarine role. In real life, a compass rose is a printed card that floats inside a compass, and shows in which direction the ship's head is pointing. Nowadays, most compasses have digital readouts.

28. Who played Steve Burns's (AKA John Forbes) girlfriend?

From Quiz "Cruising" with Al Pacino

Answer: Karen Allen

Karen Allen played Nancy, his girlfriend, a well adjusted woman who was the one steady female influence in his life. (She had co-starred in "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" in 1981, "The Perfect Storm" 2000, and "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull" 2008.) The unsteady relationship between the two leading characters was put in jeopardy when Steve Burns, AKA John Forbes (Al Pacino) decided to accept this undercover assignment. He could not tell her about the investigation he had undertaken, adding to the already difficult situation. The investigation asked Steve Burns (his undercover name was John Forbes) to infiltrate the gay scene, and to become part of the night life. This hopefully would lead to the discovery and arrest of a serial killer who had been murdering young gay men in the New York City area. Diane Keaton starred with Al Pacino in all three "Godfather" movies. She has had a very successful career in mostly comic movies, notably "Annie Hall" with Woody Allen, "First Wives Club" and "Something's Gotta Give". Tuesday Weld starred with Al Pacino in "Author! Author!" another low rated movie. Marthe Keller was in "Bobby Deerfield" with Al Pacino, this movie was a love story. Pacino's manager (Martin Bregman) had recommended to Pacino that he not make this movie, but Al Pacino wanted to play in a love story. I liked his portrayal, it showed me that he could command an audience in any type of movie.
