Answer: Ghostbusters

Released in 1984, "Ghostbusters" starred Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd as a team of parapsychologists who try to clean up the ghosts haunting New York City. 4. Released in 1999, this film tells the story of three film students who vanished without trace. All that was found was video footage that they had filmed. What is the name of this film?

Answer: The Blair Witch Project

A surprise low budget box office hit, "The Blair Witch Project" was a psychological horror film where you never saw what was pursuing the three film students. The events leading up to their disappearance were pieced together from the film footage the students made, giving the film an almost documentary feel to it, rather than an out and out horror film.
5. Released in 1982, this film tells the story of Carla Moran, a young mother assaulted by an unseen force, causing her and her family to flee their home when the attacks began to escalate. What is the name of this film?

Answer: The Entity

Another film allegedly base on true events, and starring Barbara Hershey as Carla Moran, "The Entity" had graphic scenes where Barbara's character found herself sexually assaulted by an unseen entity. Whilst the doctor treating Carla suspects she was injuring herself, a friend who witnessed Carla being assaulted recommended that Carla seek help from a group of parapsychologists.

This leads to a dramatic finale where the team of parapsychologists recreate Carla's home in an attempt to capture the entity with liquid helium, despite Carla's doctor trying to intervene.
6. Not all ghosts are scary; some are friendly, like the title character of this film. What film released in 1995 had the tagline "Get an afterlife."?

Answer: Casper

When released, "Casper" received mixed reviews from film critics, though at the time it contained what was then cutting edge CGI graphics. The film tells the tale of the ghost of a young boy who haunts a mansion with his three obnoxious uncles. 7. Released in 2009, this next film contains allegedly "real footage" of the haunting of a young couple's house. What is this film's name?

Answer: Paranormal Activity

Using a similar style to that of "The Blair Witch Project", "Paranormal Activity" uses so-called real footage to depict the haunting of the home of a young couple - based on real life instances of recorded paranormal activity. Although initially an independent film, Paramount has turned "Paranormal Activity" into a successful film franchise.
8. Released in 1999, this film stars Bruce Willis as a child psychologist, who tries to help a young boy who claims he can see dead people. What is the title of this film?

Answer: The Sixth Sense

When released, "The Sixth Sense" was critically well received. Starring Bruce Willis as Dr Malcolm Crowe, the film starts with Crowe being shot. The film then moves on as Crowe tries to help a young boy who he believes is hallucinating, with the boy claiming, "I can see dead people".

It is only near the end of the film that the truth comes out that Crowe himself died the night he was shot.
9. Adapted from a play by Noël Coward, an author seeking information regarding research into a new book hires a medium to assist him. However he find himself confronted by the spirit of his late wife. What is the name of this film?

Answer: Blithe Spirit

Released in 1945, "Blithe Spirit" was directed by David Lean, with Coward as the producer. The plot tells the story of a writer who is seeking information for his next book. When he hires a medium to assist him, he finds himself haunted by the ghost of his first wife who wants revenge.
10. This film was released in 1973, and helped launch the career of Linda Blair, who portrayed a child possessed by a demonic spirit. What is the name of this film?

Answer: The Exorcist

"The Exorcist" tells the story of a young girl possessed by an evil spirit named Pazuzu and the attempts of a priest to exorcise the demon. When released, "The Exorcist" was one of the most shocking horror films ever made, making some movie goers feeling sick watching it, whilst it caused outrage amongst others being listed as a "Video Nasty" in the UK.

After its launch, "The Exorcist" led to two sequels as well as a prequel film, which never really matched the success of the original.
