"Quest for Camelot" introduces the funny dragon duo of Devon and Cornwall. The dragons join Kayley and the blind hermit Garrett on an adventure to locate the lost sword of Excalibur. Kayley is the daughter of Sir Lionel, a former member of Arthur's Round Table.

She dreams of becoming a knight herself one day. The unlikely friends unite to fight Sir Ruber and save King Arthur's kingdom from dark magic. Kayley and Garrett get their dream of being knighted by Arthur himself.

Draco is the last of his kind and is hunted by the dragonslayer Bowen. Bowen was once a proud knight in the service of King Einon. Einon almost died as a boy but was saved when Draco shared half of his heart with him. Sadly, Einon became a cruel and selfish ruler, feared by his subjects. Because they share one heart, Einon and Draco can only live as long as the other. Draco sacrifices himself and willingly lets Bowen kill him in order to triumph over Einon.

Hiccup is the son of the mighty Viking chieftain, Stoick the Vast. The villagers wage a continuous battle against dragons. One day Hiccup tracks an injured Night Fury but instead of killing it, befriends him and calls him Toothless. The Night Fury has a disabled tail so Hiccup engineers a prosthetic tail which allows the dragon to fly again. Together they have adventures including a mighty battle against the Red Death, a giant Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus dragon. Toothless and Hiccup triumph but Hiccup loses his leg in the battle.

The story ends with the dragons and vikings living happily together.

Falcor is a fire-breathing, luck dragon that closely resembles a big white flying dog. He befriends Atreyu and Bastian and assists them in a quest to find a cure for the dying Empress. Falcor is not hugely strong or particularly magical but can breathe blue fire and possesses incredible luck. Despite having no wings, Falcor can fly because he is made from fire and air.

The film adaptation of Book Four in the "Harry Potter" series does feature a number of dragons. Harry's name is mysteriously added to the Goblet of Fire and he is forced to compete in teh Triwazrd's Tournament with three other students. In task one, Harry has to duel with a dragon.

He is assigned to the ferocious Hungarian Horntail and has to avoid the dragon while attempting to capture a golden egg. He cleverly summons his broomstick and then uses his expert seeker skills to outfly the dragon and capture the egg.

"Eragon" is a film based upon the first book of the "Inheritance Cycle", authored by Christopher Paolini. A village boy by the name of Eragon discovers a strange stone while hunting in the woods. The stone hatches and becomes the mighty blue dragon -- Saphira. Together the two of them fight the evil forces of King Galbatorix.

This is possibly the world of animation's most unlikely couple. Dragon is a female dragon with ruby scales, large wings, bony spikes and a spade-tipped tail. She breathes fire and is particularly keen on knights for dinner. At the beginning of the "Shrek" adventure she has the duty of guarding the Princess Fiona. Shrek and Donkey escape with Fiona but not before the Dragon falls in love with Donkey. Dragon helps Shrek and Donkey outwit the scheming Lord Farquaad.

At Shrek's wedding to Fiona, Dragon catches the flower bouquet and Donkey and Dragon become a couple.

At the end of "Shrek II", we meet six dronkeys -- Donkey has become a father.

In the Ultimate Disney Villains Countdown, Maleficent ranks #1 of all the Walt Disney baddies. Eric Cleworth, who brought the Maleficent dragon to life on the screen, modeled the dragon on the idea of a muscular rattlesnake. The black, fire-breathing lizard also appears in the Disney World spectacular "Fantasmic". In a spectacular light show the queen transforms into the dragon and battles Mickey Mouse. Mickey takes the sword in the stone and vanquishes the dragon....everyone then lives happily ever after!
