A prophecy he told about Mirabel was scary enough that he was shunned by the rest of the family. Only Dolores knows that Bruno is still hiding in the house with his mice companions. She is an affectionate mother, especially to Maribel who is struggling with not getting a magical gift like the rest of the family.

Cousin Dolores hears EVERYTHING...and she struggles to keep secrets. She frequently has a look of wide-eyed surprise on her face and makes a little squeak when she hears something interesting. Dolores is jealous that Mariano is betrothed to her same-aged cousin Isabela. Lucky for her, Isabela does not really want to marry Mariano so there might be hope after all.

The shape-shifter is Camilo, the middle child of Pepa and Felix. Camilo is an energetic teenager who loves to have attention and fun. His go-to prank is to transform into another family member to mock their actions and expressions. Camilo is the life of a party and loves to dance. Of course, like any teenage boy, Camilo loves to eat, and with Julieta's cooking, who wouldn't want to!

Antonio is the youngest child of both Pepa and Felix and the whole Madrigal family. As the movie starts, he is about to turn five years old and will be conducting the ceremony to find out which gift will be given. He is nervous as the whole town watches him approach his magic door. He is also nervous since the last ceremony was for Mirabel which did not go well. Luckily for Antonio, he is gifted with the ability to talk to animals. Antonio is particularly close to Maribel whom he shares a room at the beginning of the film.

The Madrigal who can make plants grow is Isabela, the oldest child of Julieta and Agustin and the older sister of Luisa and Mirabel. For most of the movie, Isabela is making beautiful pink flowers. She is a complex character that appears to have it all at the start of the film. The expectation of her being perfect does create pressure on Isabela to always do what is expected by her Abuela. This pressure includes being expected to marry Mariano whom she does not love.

Answer: Incredible strength

Luisa is the middle daughter of Julieta and Agustin. Luisa has amazing strength, allowing her to pick up entire buildings at points during the film. Luisa is portrayed as the hardest worker in the family and is constantly helping the town with her super strength. As the story progresses, we catch a glimpse of how difficult it can be when everyone always expects Luisa to be the strong one. At times Luisa doubts she is strong enough to take care of the family in the way they need her to.

Answer: Empowers rest of the family

The main character in the movie is Mirabel, the youngest daughter of Julieta and Agustin and the only character that appears not to have been given a gift. She tries to hide it well, but it is obvious in the movie that she feels left out and wishes she had a gift too.

As the movie progresses, Mirabel is the first one to notice not all is well with the Casita, and she decides she must save the house to save her family. Along the way, her true gift starts to show as she is able to bring out the true gifts of the rest of her family, including Abuela. One could say Mirabel's greatest gift is being a great listener.
