Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In what state did this story take place?

Answer: Louisiana

This movie was set in 1962 Louisiana, and tells the story of the rich and sophisticated Batiste family.
2. Eve left the party and ran into the carriage house to be alone. Why was she upset when she went into the carriage house?

Answer: Her father danced with her sister.

Eve was upset because her father, Louis, danced with her older sister, Cisely, instead of dancing with Eve. She later told her father that he never danced with her at parties.
3. Something happened in the carriage house that made Eve more upset than she already was. What happened?

Answer: She saw her father making out with another woman.

Eve did fall asleep in the carriage house, but the party wasn't over when she woke up. What caused her to wake up were the sounds of her father and Matty Mereaux making out. Eve startled them when she gasped. Eve struggled to catch her breath after she realized what her father was doing with Matty. When she did catch her breath, she actually apologized to Matty for scaring her.
4. Who did Eve first tell about what happened in the carriage house?

Answer: Her sister

Eve and her father talked for a while after leaving the carriage house and then Eve went back inside the house to get ready for bed. When Cisely asked where she had been, Eve started crying. She told Cisely what she saw. Cisely made up a story that their father and Matty were just leaning on one another laughing about a joke and that Eve mistook it for something more. Later in the movie, Cisely confessed to Eve that she knew about Matty and their father all along.
5. Eve wants her father dead because he cheats on his wife.

Answer: False

Louis cheated on his wife, but that isn't why Eve wanted him dead. Cisely tells Eve that their father tried to force himself on her and this upsets Eve. She vows to kill Louis for hurting Cisely. We learn later in the movie, that Louis didn't force himself on Cisely as she had told Eve.
6. Eve could be quite a mischevious little girl at times. What did Eve steal?

Answer: A Pineapple

During one of Eve's strolls through town, she stole a pineapple and ran from the fruit stand claiming that 25 cents was too much for the pineapple. She stopped dead in her tracks and dropped the pineapple when she spotted Elzora, the fortune teller, glaring at her. Each time Elzora saw Eve after that, Elzora called her "Pineapple thief."

She starts using profanity and her grandmother scolds her by saying, "You are asking to get hit!"
