Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Scarlett's full name, before she is married?

Answer: Katie Scarlett O'Hara

Although she goes by her middle name, Scarlett, her first name is indeed Katie, named after her Irish grandmother on her father's side. Scarlett is the heroine of the story, although she can sometimes seem like a brat.
2. Why can't Scarlett marry Ashley, her love?

Answer: He is engaged to Melanie .

Although Ashley in turn admits to being a bit in love with Scarlett, he is too much of a gentleman to break it off with Melanie, his cousin. Ashley is content with life as it is now, not wanting things to change, which makes him quite different from other men during this time, and is probably why Scarlett wants him so badly.
3. What is the name of Scarlett's only child in the movie?

Answer: Bonnie Blue Butler

She has a total of three children in the book, but they only include Bonnie Blue Butler in the movie, Scarlett and Rhett's only child. When the child is born, Melanie declares that her eyes are "as blue as the bonnie blue flag," and the the name sticks. In the book, Rhett and Scarlett's child is named Eugenia Victoria but is known by the nickname Bonnie Blue.
4. How does Ellen O'Hara, Scarlett's mother, die?

Answer: Typhoid, after nursing Emmy Slattery

Scarlett arrives home from Atlanta the day after her mother has died of typhoid from nursing Emmy Slattery, "that po' white trash," as Mammy puts it. Ellen is Scarlett's role model, whom she is always trying to please, though it doesn't work out a lot of the time.
5. Which of the following is not a quote from "Gone with the Wind"?

Answer: "Follow the yellow brick road!"

"Follow the yellow brick road!" Is a quote from "The Wizard of Oz", another popular movie from 1939. "After all, tomorrow is another day!" is the last line from the movie, where Scarlett vows to not give up hope, even though the love of her life has just left her. She will keep fighting for him forever.
"As God is my witness..." is the last line of part one of the movie, where Scarlett vows to work hard so her and her family won't have to starve.
"Fiddle-dee-dee!" Is just a popular Scarlett saying throughout the movie, kind of like "I don't care."
6. Who is Scarlett's second husband?

Answer: Frank Kennedy

Charles was her first husband, whom she married to make make Ashley jealous. Frank she married to get tax money to save their plantation, Tara, and Rhett she married for what she thought was his money, but what actually turned out to be love.
7. At the bazaar, what does the sign in the background behind Melanie's and Scarlett's booth say?

Answer: Buy a Hankie, Stop a Yankee!

If you look off to the left side, behind the booth, you can see this sign. The bazaar is being held as a fundraiser for the hospital, for medicine and bandages, which are starting to run out as the War goes on. This helps soldiers recoup faster, and helps win the war (which explains the sign. Buy a hankie, help earn more money for more soldiers to be out defeating Yankees).
8. What does the sign on the way to Twelve Oaks say?

Answer: Twelve Oaks Plantation, John Wilkes Owner, Anyone Disturbing the Peace on this Plantation will be Prosecuted

It's kind of depressing to look at the first time the sign is shown in the sunlight, and then look at it the second time, at night and torn down. This is a symbol of the Old South, with plantations and slaves and such.
9. What is the last statement of the opening credits roll?

Answer: A Civilization, Gone With the Wind

"There was a land of cavaliers and cotton fields called the Old South. Here was the last ever to be seen of knights and their ladies fair, of master and of slave. Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered; a civilization, gone with the wind."
10. Finish the quote: "I'll never be hungry again, if I have to_____".

Answer: "...lie, steal, cheat, or kill."

This is one of the most famous lines, not only of this movie, but of movie quotes in general. This is said after she arrives home to Tara from Atlanta to find it in shambles, and she vows to never to be in this state of hunger and poverty again.
