In this scene the truck belonging to con man Moses "Moze" Pray (Ryan O'Neal) has quit just outside Joplin, Missouri, after he dropped off young Addie Loggins (Tatum O'Neal, who is Ryan's real-life daughter) at her aunt's house. In the events leading up to this scene, Moze has agreed to deliver Addie to her aunt, after her mother died. However, once she is there, Addie decides she'd rather be with Moze, conning strangers with imprinted bibles. When Moze spots her running after him he disgustedly says line one. Addie defiantly replies with line two.

In the 1974 Academy Awards 10-year-old Tatum won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She became the youngest winner ever at that time, in a competitive category (although Shirley Temple won an Honorary Award at age six in 1935). In one scene Addie is shown smoking what appears to be a cigarette. However, the cigarette was made out of lettuce and contained no nicotine.

In this scene, Japanese Colonel Saito (Sessue Hayakawa), who runs a Japanese POW camp in WWII, is talking to British commander Colonel Nicholson (Alec Guinness), who has just been released from solitary confinement in an outdoor "oven" box. Colonel Saito wants the British officers, who are POWs, to do manual labor in building a bridge the Japanese want built and is furious when Colonel Nicholson forbids this. The oven box treatment has failed to change Colonel Nicholson's mind and he has been released. Nicholson asks Colonel Saito if he is satisfied with the work so far under Japanese direction and Saito says, "I am not!" Nicholson then says line one and a frustrated Saito replies with line two.

"The Bridge on the River Kwai" won seven Oscars in the 1958 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Alec Guinness won Best Actor in a Leading Role, and David Lean won for Best Director. Although this movie is based on a true story, considerable leeway was taken with the actual history (much to the frustration of former POWs who actually were there).

Answer: The Perfect Storm

In this scene crew members from the Gloucester, Massachusetts fishing boat "Andrea Gail" are celebrating their safe return from a fishing voyage in a local tavern, the Crows' Nest. Irene "Big Red" Johnson (Rusty Schwimmer) is talking to crewmember Mike "Bugsy" Moran (John Hawkes) and asks him what his real name is. When he says "Michael" she says line one and he replies with line two. This movie tells the true story of the fishing boat "Andrea Gail," captained by Billy Tyne (George Clooney), which tried to make one last trip out in the fall of 1991. An unusual combination of weather factors combined to form a killer storm in the North Atlantic, and the "Andrea Gail" didn't make it through.

In the 2001 Academy Awards, "The Perfect Storm" was nominated for Best Special Effects but lost the Oscar to "Gladiator." I'm not sure I agree with that call. The storm sequences in "The Perfect Storm" were amazing.

In this scene psychiatrist Dr. Ben Sobel (Billy Crystal) has just told mob boss Paul Vitti (Robert De Niro), "You know what I do when I'm angry? I hit a pillow. Just hit the pillow, see how you feel." Vitti pulls out his handgun and fires several shots into a nearby empty chair. Dr. Sobel then asks line one and a pleasantly surprised Vitti responds with line two. This movie tells the story of how Dr. Sobel reluctantly helps Vitti once and then can't get rid of him as a patient. Vitti keeps telling Dr. Sobel, "You, my friend, have a special gift," and won't leave.

In the 2000 Golden Globes awards, "Analyze This" was nominated for two awards but did not win either.

Answer: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

In this scene Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman), The Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) and their gang have just robbed a train. Butch has set a dynamite charge to blow open the safe in the train's baggage car and says line one. However, he uses way too much dynamite and it blows not only the safe open but also destroys the railway car. As the paper bills inside the safe float to earth Sundance sarcastically says line two. Just after this explosion a train whistle blows. One of the cars contains a posse of mounted Pinkerton detectives, who immediately leap out of their car and give chase. However, it was found, in filming, that the rapid succession of mounted men exiting could best be achieved by building a ramp up to the car on the back (unseen) side of the car and having them ride up this ramp and then immediately leap out the other side.

In the 1970 Academy Awards, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was nominated in seven categories, including Best Picture (but lost to "Midnight Cowboy"). It did win four Oscars.

In this scene FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks) and his team of agents are hot on the trail of con man and master forger Frank Abagnale, Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) and have trailed him to the Miami International Airport. One of the FBI agents (Tom Fox), thinking that Frank might leave the country and escape their jurisdiction, says line one. Hanratty, however, realizes just how skilled Frank is, despite being a young man, and replies with line two. This movie is the true story of Frank Abagnale, Jr. who, before his 19th birthday, successfully impersonated an airline pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer and cashed more than $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in every U.S. state and 26 foreign countries.

In the 2003 Academy Awards actor Christopher Walken and music director John Williams were nominated for Oscars but neither won. Two of the personas that Frank takes on are comic book characters. The movie explains how he took the name Barry Allen, the alter ego of DC comic's "The Flash," when pretending to be a federal agent. In another episode (while pretending to be a doctor) he used the name Dr. Connors. The alter ego of Spider-Man enemy, "The Lizard," is Dr. Curtis Connors ("Amazing Spider-Man" #6, November 1963).

In this scene General George S. Patton Jr. (George C. Scott) is called away from having his portrait painted, for a phone call from Major General Walter Bedell Smith (Ed Binns). General Smith, referring to statements Patton made as reported in a recent newspaper article, says "Ike is furious. How could you compare Republicans and Democrats to the Nazi Party?" Then the conversation changes to the Russians. Patton, who does not like the Russians, says line one. An incredulous General Smith responds with line two. This movie follows extremely talented but very complex American General George S. Patton, Jr. (George C. Scott) through his WWII days. He was a brilliant tank tactician at the leading edge of tank strategy but identified with the ancient past ("God, how I hate the twentieth century."). He was very religious but swore a blue streak.

In the 1971 Academy Awards "Patton" won seven Oscars, including Best Picture. George C. Scott initially turned down the role of Patton but then reconsidered when he realized it would be a great acting challenge. He won the Oscar for Best Actor but refused to accept it.

In this scene classical musician Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) is showing her apartment to Ghostbuster, Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), seeking an explanation for the strange events in her kitchen. When she had heard a growl coming from her refrigerator she opened the refrigerator door and saw a temple and a doglike creature that growled the word "Zuul." Dana says line one and Dr. Venkman, who seems more interested in flirting with Dana, says line two. Dana says, "You know, you don't act like a scientist," and then "You're more like a game show host." In the events leading up to this scene, three professors specializing in parapsychology are thrown out of their college and decide to form a business named Ghostbusters that specializes in ghost removal. The college scenes were filmed at Columbia University in New York City, but they agreed to this only on the condition the school not be mentioned by name in the film.

In the 1985 Academy Awards "Ghost Busters" was nominated for Best Visual Effects but was beaten out by "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom."

In this scene a combative Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio) is testifying at hearings chaired by Maine Senator Ralph Owen Brewster (Alan Alda) on a proposed amendment to the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB). This bill specified that all international air flights would be provided by only one carrier, Pan American Airways, which was chaired by Juan Trippe (Alec Baldwin). When Hughes points out, "The CAB bill would kill TWA," (a rival airline that Hughes runs), Senator Brewster suggests TWA be sold to Pan American. The exchange then degenerates into a discussion of Juan Trippe's motives and Senator Brewster's relationship with Trippe. Senator Brewster makes the comment in line one and Hughes retorts with line two. This movie follows the career of the brilliant but eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes from movie producer to airplane designer to major player in TWA Airlines into germophobic madness. Hughes moved in to the Desert Inn casino in Las Vegas in late 1966 and didn't leave his suite once in the next four years.

In the 2005 Academy Awards "The Aviator" won five Oscars and was nominated for six more, including Best Picture (but lost to "Million Dollar Baby").

Answer: My Cousin Vinny

In this scene new lawyer, Vincent "Vinny" Gambini (Joe Pesci), and his girlfriend, Mona Lisa Vito (Marisa Tomei), stop their car in a small Alabama town while driving south to defend Vinny's cousin and his friend. He looks critically at her tight-fitting short skirt and pink camera and says line one. She looks at his all-black outfit, leather jacket and gold chain and replies with line two. He says, "I fit in better than you. At least I'm wearing cowboy boots." She sarcastically replies, "Oh yeah, you blend." In the events leading up to this scene, two young men from New York are driving across Alabama when they are stopped and jailed on suspicion of murder of a Sac-O-Suds clerk. The lawyer they choose to represent them is Vinny Gambini, a cousin of one of them, but he has very little experience and none on murder cases.

In the 1993 Academy Awards Marisa won for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. This was the first Oscar she won.
