It is Gloria who comes up with his name. Mumble was a little late hatching, but when he did hatch his feet appeared first and he kept mumbling, and this is when he gets his name.

Seymour is another emperor penguin voiced by Fat Joe, Nestor is one of the Amigos voiced by Carlos Alazraqui, and Erik is Mumble and Gloria's son who does not appear until "Happy Feet Two". He is voiced by Ava Acres, but his singing voice is provided by E. G. Daily.

Answer: Great 'Guin

The Great 'Guin is like a god to the penguins, and is said by Noah to "put songs in our hearts and fish in our bellies!" Noah and the elders act as a clergy to the Great 'Guin, as they seem very knowledgeable of his will and his demands.

After being told by Miss Viola of how Mumble can't sing, Norma Jean is worried that Mumble may spend his life alone and never find his one true love. When Memphis asks if there is anything they can do, Miss Viola recommends Mrs Astrakhan to help, because "if anyone can, Mrs. Astrakhan can".

However to Mrs. Astrakhan's horror, Mumble still can't sing, but does break into a brilliant little tap dance, while Norma Jean watches on with delight and Memphis with apprehension.

After being exiled by the Elders and seeing Lovelace again for the second time, Mumble decides to find and talk to the aliens. On the way, however, Gloria suddenly makes an appearance and says she is coming with him. Fearing for her safety, Mumble ridicules Gloria in a attempt to drive her away. The plan works, and Gloria calls him a "stubborn, hippity-hoppity fool".

Introduced by Seymour, Gloria sings to the crowd, but is interrupted by Mumble twice with his singing. On the second time, poor Mumble is put on a floating piece of ice out to sea and must watch from afar.

With the help of the Amigos, Mumble "sings" to Gloria, but she can't help feeling that something is not right. When she finally gets Mumble to turn around, it is revealed that Ramón was singing the whole time behind Mumble's back out of sight, with Mumble lip syncing.

What started out as a fun and enjoyable belly slide so turns into panic and fear as the avalanche frees a strange and "alien" contraption, which is really an excavator. The Amigos and Mumble quickly escape from the machine and the falling chunks of ice as the excavator sinks down into the depths.

It is at this moment that Mumble realizes that the story the Skua told him when he was a child about aliens might just be true as he has never seen anything like it before.

When all the moms leave for the fishing season, the dads stay home and look after the eggs. That night during a blizzard, the penguins give praise to the Great 'Guin, all except for Memphis, who is remembering Norma Jean. He gets carried away, however, and accidentally drops the egg.

This is where we hear the wisdom given to us by Lovelace: "There is a wisdom, brothers and sisters, that stands above all others. Never. Ever. No matter what. Drop. Your. Egg."

Answer: To find out why they are taking the fish

After escaping from two killer whales, Mumble and the others reach the forbidden shore and from there can see ships on the sea fishing. After telling the others to make sure Gloria and his mother are okay, and to tell his father that he tried, Mumble vows to stop the aliens from taking the fish and leaps into the waters below. After failing to stop one boat from fishing, Mumble follows them even after they have gone from his sight, and travels further then any other penguin had gone before.

He washes up on a shore, and is taken to Marine World. It is here that he finally meets the "aliens", which are humans, and attempts to speak to them to find out why they are taking the fish, but they can't understand him.
