Facing off against The Shape, also known as Michael Myers, for decades, Jamie Lee Curtis' first role was in John Carpenter's groundbreaking slasher flick, "Halloween", in 1978, returning for "Halloween II" the year after, "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later" in 1998, "Halloween: Resurrection" in 2002, and the 2018 sequel, also known as "Halloween".

In the series, Curtis played Laurie Strode, later discovered to be Myers' sister. The role commenced the actress' reign as a scream queen in horror cinema; she would be a 'final girl' in several subsequent films.

Answer: Prom Night

A cult classic after its 1980 release, this low-budget Canadian horror film was the third in a series of four that Curtis was in at the start of her career, and another instance in which she played the final girl of a slasher movie. In this one, her younger sister died while trying to join in a game of hide-and-seek, and though many were there to witness her accidental death, they made a pact not to tell anyone of their involvement. Ultimately, this resulted in a string of deaths on prom night in the movie.

The film saw a remake in 2008 and several sequels over the years, but Jamie Lee Curtis won a Genie Award for her role in the original.

Answer: Perfect

This film was an interesting one. Hot off the successes of "Staying Alive" and "Blow Out" in the early '80s, this Travolta was considered so bad that Travolta didn't return to films for most of the decade, only coming back for "Look Who's Talking" in 1989. Jamie Lee Curtis seemed to come out unscathed though.

Despite the film receiving three Razzie nominations (none for Curtis), and flopping in the box office, it has been remembered for its extensive workout scenes featuring both Curtis and Travolta performing aerobics routines in a group setting. Curtis played instructor Jessie Wilson while Travolta played a "Rolling Stone" writer seeking information about Los Angeles' burgeoning exercise industry. Love may have ensued.

Answer: A Fish Called Wanda

This movie, also starring John Cleese and Michael Palin, ended up scoring Kevin Kline a Best Supporting Actor Oscar win for his role as Otto West. This movie was something of a gem. Written by John Cleese, the movie followed a group of criminals involved in a diamond heist though the plan backfired due to infighting and double-crossing. Ultimately, Jamie Lee Curtis' Wanda (also the name of a fish in the movie) ended up trying to use a barrister played by John Cleese to find a way to claim the diamonds for herself.

They ended up having affair in the mix of things, despite her fake-brother Otto clearly having a stake. The movie was a critical and box office success though its spiritual sequel, "Fierce Creatures" (starring the same cast) was not.

Answer: True Lies

"True Lies" mainly starred Arnold as a secretive government agent hiding his real job from everyone-- including his family-- though his attempt to spice things up for his wife (Jamie Lee Curtis) upon discovering her having an affair led his family to fall into harm's way. Both Harry and Helen Tasker ended up getting captured by the Crimson Jihad and what followed was an escape that only the two of them could pull off together.

The movie was a major success and Jamie Lee Curtis won a Golden Globe for her role in it.

Answer: Virus

After electric interference from space collides with MIR, something seemed to go haywire and affected the electronics aboard a Russian research ship in this film, and a U.S. naval crew containing Jamie Lee Curtis' character decided to hop aboard said ship for salvage and safe transport after a typhoon. Of course, she and the others encountered the horrible, evil robot creatures therein.

Unfortunately, the film was a flop on all fronts. Jamie Lee Curtis later claimed the film to be one of her worst. Filmmakers hoped the movie would be a hit, licensing merchandise to go alongside it and the original 1992 comic; it wasn't a hit.

Answer: Freaky Friday

Based on the 1976 original starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster which, in turn, was based on a 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers, this Disney-produced movie placed Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan in the roles of mother and daughter who swapped bodies after reading magical fortune cookies.

While Curtis had to live her life in her daughter's body for a day, Lohan had to fill her mother's shoes at work. The movie was a big hit, and for her role in it, Jamie Lee Curtis was nominated for a Golden Globe, losing the award to Diane Keaton that year.

Answer: Christmas with the Kranks

In this film, Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis played Luther and Nora Krank in an adaptation of Grisham's "Surviving Christmas". It wasn't great. The film ended up tanking critically but succeeded in the box office. In the film, the duo made a bold attempt to dodge the Christmas season and head out on a Caribbean cruise, but they found themselves the objects of disgust amongst their neighbours, coworkers, and pretty much everyone else for their selfish decision. Ultimately, they realized it was a bad idea to consider avoiding conformity.

It was rough.

Answer: Beverly Hills Chihuahua

"Beverly Hills Chihuahua", a surprise box office hit for Disney, only really featured Jamie Lee Curtis for a short time as she ended up leaving her spoiled chihuahua, Chloe, with her niece (played by Piper Perabo) and headed off on a work trip. Unfortunately, said niece decided to selfishly head out to a party in Mexico and the dog got loose, going on its own adventures with a some dogs in and around Mexico City.

In the end, everyone seemed to fall in love and Jamie Lee Curtis was none the wiser. Two straight-to-DVD sequels were made; Jamie Lee Curtis returned for neither of them.

Answer: From Up on Poppy Hill

One of the many beautifully-crafted films to come from Studio Ghibli in the 2010s, "From Up on Poppy Hill" was written by Miyazaki but directed by his son, Gorō Miyazaki (in his second film after "Tales from Earthsea"). Jamie Lee Curtis played the role of Ryoko, the mother of the protagonist, Umi, in the English dub of the film.

More grounded in the real world than many of the Studio Ghibli films, "From Up on Poppy Hill" follows the lives of a few high schoolers as they try to retain their school clubhouse.
