Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Weasleys, Harry and Hermione start the movie with a trip to the Quidditch World Cup, going to a match featuring Ireland and Bulgaria. The Irish team use magic to display across the sky an enormous version of something very Irish. What is it?

Answer: Leprechaun

An enormous leprechaun glitters in the sky, heralding the arrival of the Irish team. The leprechaun even does a little jig, to everyone's amusement. The leprechaun is broken up by the dramatic appearance of the Bulgarian team, who fly straight through it to make their entrance.
2. When Harry arrives with the rest of the party at their accommodation for the Quidditch World Cup, he is a bit disconcerted, as it looks like a very small one or two-person tent - how are they all going to fit? He's in for a surprise once he enters the tent. What does he say after he walks in?

Answer: "I love magic!"

When he walks into the tent, he sees that it opens up into a many-roomed tent version of a mansion! That tent didn't look like much from the outside, but it really opened up into something special. Harry is suitably impressed when he enters, saying "I love magic!". We don't get to see all the rooms inside the tent, but what we do see gives an impression of space, with the central living area appearing to have quite a number of other rooms leading off from it.
3. Despite being underage, Harry's name is drawn from the Goblet of Fire to participate in the Triwizard Tournament. Hagrid takes Harry with him on his way to a meeting with Madame Maxime in order to warn him about the first task, battling a dragon. On the way, Harry notices that Hagrid is wearing something rather unusual (unusual for Hagrid, anyway!). What is it?

Answer: A flower in his lapel.

Hagrid was meeting with Madame Maxime (who is very fond of dragons - and Hagrid, it seems!) and asked Harry to come along with him in order to give him a warning about the first task. On the way, Harry noticed that Hagrid has smartened himself up by not only wearing a red flower in his lapel, but also going to the effort of combing his hair! Harry also warns his fellow Hogwarts student Cedric about what is in store for the first task, a favour Cedric later repays when it comes to the second task.
4. Draco Malfoy taunts Harry by saying that he and his father have been placing wagers on how long he'll last in the Triwizard Tournament (Draco thinks less than ten minutes; Lucius doesn't even think Harry will last five!). Mad Eye Moody catches Draco about to perform a spell on Harry as he's leaving the confrontation and retaliates by turning Draco into what animal?

Answer: Ferret

We don't see all that much of Draco Malfoy in this movie, but when we do, he is his usual obnoxious self. Professor McGonagall arrives on the scene soon after Mad Eye Moody has performed the transformation and is not impressed, reminding Mad Eye Moody that transfiguration is never used as a student punishment. Mad Eye looks suitably chastened, saying that he thought Professor Dumbledore may have mentioned such a thing, but I don't think he was too sorry, and I don't blame him!
5. The Triwizard Champions' first task is to face one of four dragons. Harry draws the Hungarian Horntail - the nastiest of the bunch. What does he use his wand to summon in order to help him with this task?

Answer: Broomstick

Harry is worried when he learns that dragons are to be the first task; as Mad Eye Moody not-so-comfortingly reminds him, the other three competitors are all older and much more advanced with their magical abilities and therefore better equipped to take on a task of this magnitude. Mad Eye urges Harry to think of his strengths and Harry says that he's good at flying, but he knows that contestants aren't allowed broomsticks. To this, Mad Eye replies, "You're allowed a wand."
6. The Yule Ball is held between the first and second tasks, and Harry and Ron both find it extremely difficult to pluck up the courage to ask a girl to go with them. Whom does Ron attempt to ask by shouting out the question to her as she walks by?

Answer: Fleur Delacour

While we never actually see this in the movie, we see a very shaky Ron being escorted into the Gryffindor common room after the fact. Everyone wants to know what's wrong, and it's revealed that Ron actually asked Fleur to the Yule Ball, with Ginny saying that he never really 'asked' her, more shouted the question at her as she walked by. Ron was obviously traumatised by the experience, as we find out that he ran away before Fleur gave him an answer! While Ron did half-heartedly begin to ask Hermione to the Yule Ball, he asked her during study period rather than shouting the question at her.
7. Harry's successful completion of the first task in the Triwizard Tournament was rewarded with a golden egg containing a clue for the second task. Every time Harry opens his egg, it emits a terrible screeching noise that appears to be of no use whatsoever. Cedric suggests Harry take his egg up to the Prefects' bathroom. What ends up being the solution to the mystery of the golden egg?

Answer: Opening and listening to it underwater.

Harry ends up sitting in the bath in the Prefects' bathroom with his egg wondering what on earth he is doing there when Moaning Myrtle appears. She teases poor Harry mercilessly (let's just say it's lucky Harry was taking a bubble bath!) and eventually suggests that he open his egg underwater. Harry does so and discovers that underwater, the egg's message is in the language of mermaids, which cannot be heard out of water.
8. The second task requires the Triwizard Champions to save someone they care about from the depths of the Black Lake. Which one of the competitors is attacked by grindylows and is forced to pull out of the contest?

Answer: Fleur Delacour

Fleur is forced to pull out of the second task, and we can tell she is incredibly worried that her sister Gabrielle will be left at the bottom of the Black Lake forever, as each contestant is only allowed to save one person. Harry realises that Fleur is not coming to complete the challenge and, after releasing Ron, releases Gabrielle as well.

The grindylows are not happy, and attack Harry as he tries to pull both Ron and Gabrielle to the surface. Harry eventually pushes Ron and Gabrielle to the surface ahead of him and uses his wand to repel the grindylows and propel himself out of the water.

Despite officially breaking the rules of the challenge, Harry is rewarded for his display of "outstanding moral fibre".
9. After his experience with the Pensieve in Dumbledore's office, Harry is walking along the corridor past Snape's potions storage area, where he sees Snape and Karkaroff together through the open door. Karkaroff quickly leaves and Snape confronts Harry, accusing him of stealing from his stores the gillyweed Harry used to complete the second task. He also accuses Harry of stealing the ingredients to make which one of these potions?

Answer: Polyjuice Potion

I suppose Snape had reason to suspect Harry, since Hermione had brewed Polyjuice Potion in "The Chamber of Secrets" for herself, Harry and Ron to use; however, in this case, Harry has nothing to do with the Polyjuice Potion. We later find out that it is Barty Crouch Jr who has been brewing Polyjuice Potion in order to take the form of Mad Eye Moody. Throughout the movie, we see Barty as Mad Eye taking frequent sips from his flask; no doubt he's drinking a bit of Polyjuice Potion each time.
10. The Triwizard Tournament completed, all the students are preparing to go home for the summer. Hermione, realising that the events of the year have not only changed Harry, but the friendship she shares with him and Ron, tries to get the boys to promise to write to her over the summer. How often does Harry promise to write to her?

Answer: Every week.

The three of them are sitting together outside wondering if they're ever going to get a normal, quiet year at Hogwarts. Hermione asks Harry, "Everything is going to change, isn't it?" and Harry replies with "Yes." Hermione wants the boys to promise to write to her over the summer; Ron is the one who avoids promising to write ("You know I won't!") but Harry agrees to write to her every week.
