Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Now fully entrenched in Narnia, the four Pevensie siblings are suddenly confronted with a talking beaver. What item does Mr. Beaver return to Lucy, on behalf of Mr. Tumnus?

Answer: Handkerchief

Lucy had provided Mr. Tumnus with a handkerchief during their first meeting, and had left it with him, claiming that he needed it more than she did. Mr. Beaver hands the handkerchief to Lucy after they first meet, claiming that Mr. Tumnus had given it to him prior to his arrest.
2. In the Beaver hut, the children learn about the prophecy that they seem to fulfill, namely, that two 'Sons of Adam' and two 'Daughters of Eve' will arrive to deliver Narnia from the clutches of the evil White Witch. They learn this over an interesting meal consisting of which items?

Answer: Fish and chips

Typical beaver fare, really. The fish are whole fish and the 'chips' are actually wood chips!

During their meal, Mr. Beaver also talks about Aslan and the Stone Table. The children are quite perplexed, but listen intently.
3. Edmund, having heard about the prophecies, leaves angrily from the Beavers' home, denouncing his siblings and announcing his allegiance to the White Witch.

Answer: False

In actuality, Edmund leaves silently, much to the chagrin of his siblings and Mr. Beaver. Despite Edmund's surreptitious exit, Mr. Beaver is well aware of the lad's destination. He is going to the palace of the White Witch.
4. In the palace of the White Witch, Edmund notices that there are many animals that have apparently turned to stone. He does not have time to sneak around for long, however, as he is soon captured by a group of animals of which species?

Answer: Wolves

These are the White Witch's secret wolf police, led by the evil Maugrim. Edmund is taken to the White Witch, where he is interrogated. He will soon find himself incarcerated in her frigid jail.
5. Meanwhile, the other children make a hasty escape from the beaver lodge through a secret tunnel. Emerging out the other side, they encounter a fox who helps them escape from the White Witch's secret police. Which actor lends his voice to Mr. Fox?

Answer: Rupert Everett

Though Mr. Fox has a relatively small role in the film, his voice is rather distinctive thanks to Rupert Everett, who you may recognize from such films as 'Shrek II' (voice of Prince Charming), 'The Importance of Being Earnest' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
6. Peter, Susan and Lucy now make their way across the vast Narnian frontier towards their destination, to meet Aslan. Along the way, the children meet up with a figure with whom we are all quite familiar. Who is this gentle fellow?

Answer: Father Christmas

Father Christmas looks very much like the traditional St. Nick, aka Santa Claus. In the film, he is played by actor James Cosmo, who has appeared in films such as 'Troy', 'Emma', 'Trainspotting' and 'Braveheart'.
7. Each of the three children are given two very useful gifts each at this juncture in the film. Which of the three is given a bow and arrows?

Answer: Susan

Susan receives a bow and arrows from Father Christmas, along with a horn in which she can blow to summon the others in an emergency. Lucy is provided with a dagger and a potion (juice of the fire flower) that heals injury. Peter gets a sword and a shield, the latter emblazoned with a red lion.
8. Now on the run, and with the White Witch's minions in full pursuit, the children move with a renewed vigor. Which very dangerous natural feature becomes their greatest obstacle in their attempt to reach Aslan?

Answer: Frozen river

The children arrive at the frozen river, which would seemingly be a good thing, except that the ice is rapidly breaking apart. With the White Witch and the wolves in full pursuit, they have no choice but to traverse this frigtening riverine obstacle. Happily, they are able to make it across the river safely, with the wolves apparently consumed by the raging river.
9. Edmund, who has unwillingly accompanied the White Witch in her pursuit of his siblings, is turned to stone when he attempts to steal the White Witch's magic wand.

Answer: False

No, this is not Edmund's fate. However, Mr. Fox does meet this fate, as does Mr. Tumnus. The ruthless White Witch wants Edmund fully alive and mobile, as he has become a valued asset in her personal rivalry with Aslan.
10. Peter, Susan and Lucy finally arrive at Aslan's camp, and meet the regal lion in all his splendor. Which actor generously provides his distinctive voice for the character Aslan?

Answer: Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson, who has starred in many great films, including 'Schindler's List', 'Batman Begins' and 'Rob Roy', is the very familiar voice behind Aslan, the king of the beasts of Narnia. Aslan makes a speech, describing the 'deep magic' that governs the world, 'defines right and wrong' and 'governs all our destinies'. Sounds good to me!
