Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which movie character is the odd one out?

Answer: Irwin M. Fletcher

The other three were all characters from the classic comedy "Animal House" (1978). John "Bluto" Blutarski was played by John Belushi. Daniel Simpson Day ("D-Day") was played by Bruce McGill. Kent "Flounder" Dorfman, a legacy Delta from Harrisburg, was played by Stephen Furst. Irwin M. Fletcher was played by Chevy Chase in "Fletch".
2. Which comedy movie is the odd one out?

Answer: Bowfinger

The other three all starred Michael Keaton in the title role. "Mr. Mom" (1983), "Johnny Dangerously" (1984), and "Jack Frost" (1998). Keaton is a great actor who is destined to win an Oscar someday. The title role of the hapless, low budget movie director, "Bowfinger" (1999) was played by Steve Martin.
3. What comedy movie quote is the odd one out?

Answer: "I wanna be just like you. I figure all I need is a lobotomy and some tights."

The other three quotes are all from the 1982 classic "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) was incensed at the driving abilities of people hopped up on quaaludes. Mr. Hand (Ray Walston) is convinced EVERYONE is on dope. And the "Cuba" quote was Spicoli's response to when Mr. Hand asked "What the heck do you think you're doing?", when Spicoli had a pizza delivered to his History class.

The "lobotomy and some tights" quote was said by John Bender (Judd Nelson) in the 1985 classic "The Breakfast Club".

Here, smoke up, Johnny.
4. Which one of these teen actors is the odd one out? (The actors played teen characters, but the actor was not necessarily a teen at the time the role was played.)

Answer: Keith Gordon

The other three all played the role of Russell "Rusty" Griswold in the "Vacation" series of movies. If you've noticed (and it's hard not to), Rusty's age has fluctuated (as did sister Audrey's) in the "Vacation" movies. Rusty was 15 in the first movie; Audrey was 14.

In "European Vacation", Rusty was 16, Audrey was 17. In "Christmas Vacation", Rusty was 13, Audrey was 16. In "Vegas Vacation", Rusty was 17, Audrey was 16. Anthony Michael Hall played Rusty in the original "National Lampoon's Vacation" in 1983; Hall was 15 at the time. Jason Lively played Rusty in "European Vacation" in 1985, and then went on to star in such forgettable classics as "Night of the Creeps" (1986). Johnny Galecki played Rusty in "Christmas Vacation" in 1989; Galecki was 14 at the time. Galecki has since been featured in several movies and as a regular on the TV show "Roseanne". Rusty was played by Ethan Embry in "Vegas Vacation". Keith Gordon has starred in many movies, including "Christine", "The Legend of Billie Jean", and alongside Rodney Dangerfield in "Back to School".
5. Which of these teen actresses is the odd one out? (The actresses played teen characters, but the actress was not necessarily a teen at the time the role was played.) Hint: The answer to Question 5 is somehow related to the answer to Question 4.

Answer: Claire Danes

The other three all played Audrey Griswold in the "Vacation" series of movies. Dana Barron played Audrey in the original "Vacation" (1983). Dana Hill played Audrey in "European Vacation" (1985). Juliette Lewis played Audrey in "Christmas Vacation" (1989). Claire Danes has appeared in such blockbusters as "Romeo and Juliet" (1996), "The Rainmaker" (1997), and "The Hours" (2001).
6. Which comedy movie is the odd one out?

Answer: Down and Out in Beverly Hills

The other three movies all starred John Cusack in the lead role. "Better Off Dead" (1985), "One Crazy Summer" (1986), and "Grosse Point Blank" (1997). At age 37, Cusack has nearly 50 movies to his credit, including such blockbusters as "Eight Men Out" (1988), "Con Air" (1997), and "The Thin Red Line" (1998). "Down and Out in Beverly Hills" (1986) starred Nick Nolte and Bette Midler.
7. Which alias used by a featured movie character is the odd one out? Hint: Chevy Chase.

Answer: Enrico Pallazzo

The other three were all aliases used by Chevy Chase in the classic comedy "Fletch" (1985). Lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielson) assumed the identity of world reknowned opera singer, Enrico Pallazzo, in "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad" (1988). "Hey, it's Enrico Pallazzo!"
8. Which "Airplane" character is the odd one out? Think dinner.

Answer: Ted Striker

The other three all had fish for dinner which left them incapacitated. Oveur, Murdoch, and Basta were the pilot, co-pilot, and navigator, respectively. Passenger Ted Striker, a former fighter pilot, was then called upon to fly the plane to safety. Who can forget this mind-numbing exchange of dialogue: "2-0-9er clear for vector 234." "We have clearance, Clarence." "Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?" "Tower's radio clearance, over." That's Clarence Oveur, over." "Roger." "Huh?" Roger, over." "Huh?"
9. Which Blues Brothers quote is the odd one out?

Answer: "No, they don't got my address. I falsified my renewal. I put down 1060 West Addison."

The other three quotes were all said by "Joliet" Jake Blues (John Belushi). The first quote was, of course, said by Elwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd). Elwood did most of the driving, and he told this to Jake after being pulled over and then having to outrun the cops. Jake's response was, "1060 West Addison? That's Wrigley Field." Elwood figured the cops must have had SCMODS (State, County, Municipal Offender Data System).
10. Which action comedy character is the odd one out?

Answer: Lee Butters

The other three are all characters from the 1982 classic "48 Hours". Reggie Hammond was the convict played by Eddie Murphy. Detective Jack Cates was played by Nick Nolte. Albert Ganz was played by James Remar. Detective Lee Butters was played by Chris Rock in "Lethal Weapon 4" (1998).
11. Which 1990's movie is the odd one out?

Answer: Rushmore

The other three were all written and directed by Kevin Smith. Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith ("Jay and Silent Bob") also appear in all three of these movies. Smith's brand of cerebral yet hilarious comedy movies include "Chasing Amy" (1997) and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" (2001). I'd really like to meet this Smith dude, maybe give him a stink palm loaded with chocolate. "Rushmore" (1998) was directed by Wes Anderson, and written by Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson, starring Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman.
12. Which of the following comedy movie characters is the odd one out?

Answer: Harry Dunne

The other three characters were all played by Tom Hanks. Rick Gassko was the lead character in "Bachelor Party" (1984). Pep Streebeck was Hanks' character in "Dragnet" (1987). Josh Baskin was the character Hanks played in "Big" (1988). Harry Dunne was the character played by Jeff Daniels in "Dumb and Dumber" (1994), and by Derek Richardson in "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd" (2003). All great comedies.
13. Which movie punk band is the odd one out?

Answer: Josie Cotton

The other three were all on the bill at the "Rock Fight" in "Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke". Alice Bowie was Cheech & Chong's band, who won the fight with their hallucinogenic-induced rendition of "Earache My Eye". Josie Cotton appeared at the prom in "Valley Girl", where they performed that very memorable tune, "Johnny, Are You Queer?".
14. Which of these comedy movies is the odd one out?

Answer: National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation

The other three were all written, produced and/or directed by John Hughes. The multi-talented Hughes also had a hand in either writing, producing and/or directing the three previous "Vacation" movies. "Vegas Vacation" was the only one not at all associated with John Hughes; it was still a funny one, though.
15. Which comedy movie trilogy subtitle is the odd one out?

Answer: The Next Day

The other three are all subtitles to "The Naked Gun" trilogy. "The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad" (1988). "The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear" (1991). "The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult" (1994). The odd one out was "Porky's II: The Next Day" (1983), not as funny as the original "Porky's" (1982) but a very funny movie in its own right.

When Pee Wee gets pulled over by the cops for running down the road naked...twice...it's absolutely hilarious.
