Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Finish this quote from "Prologue": "A collector's piece indeed/ Every detail exactly as..."?

Answer: she said

At the auction in the beginning of the movie Raoul buys an old music box which used to belong to the Phantom. Christine must have described it to him before she died.
2. After Raoul has recognized her, how does Christine begin the last verse of "Think of Me"?

Answer: "Flowers fade/ The fruits of summer fade"

During the rehearsal for a new production of Chalumeau's "Hannibal", Carlotta, who plays the lead Elissa, decides to quit. Christine is therefore asked to sing on Carlotta's behalf and step into the part of Elissa - a part which includes the beautiful aria "Think of Me". It is when Christine sings this song that Raoul, her childhood friend, recognizes her.
3. This is a lyric from "Angel of Music" (the one Christine and Meg sing together): "Angel of Music/ Guide and guardian/ Grant to me your glory. Angel of Music/ Hide no longer/ Come to me, strange Angel".

Answer: False

The actual lyric is: "Angel of Music/ Hide no longer/ Secret and strange Angel". This is near the beginning of the movie when Christine lights a candle for her father. She is soon joined by Meg who wants to know who Christine's secret tutor is. Together they start singing this song, asking the "Angel of Music" to reveal himself.
Christine, however, does sing the quote in this question later in the movie when she sees the Phantom behind the mirror in her dressing room. Sorry if anyone was fooled by that.
4. Finish the quote from "The Music of the Night": "Let the dream begin/ Let your darker side give in/ To the power of the music that I write/ ..."?

Answer: The power of the music of the night

After the success of "Hannibal", Christine is left alone in her dressing room. Here the Phantom reveals himself to her for the first time when he appears in her mirror. He proceeds to lead her down to the great underground lake where he lives. Once they are there, the Phantom begins his song "The Music of the Night" in which he describes both his passion for music and Christine.
5. Find the missing word in this quote from "I Remember/ Stranger Than You Dreamt It": "Who was that ____ in the shadows?"

Answer: shape

Christine sings this to herself when she wakes up in the Phantom's lair the next morning and wonders who the mysterious man in the mask was.
6. How does the Phantom end this quote: "Curse you/ You little lying Delilah/ You little ..."?

Answer: viper

Christine's curiosity gets the better of her when she spots the Phantom, who is busy playing the piano. While he plays, she walks up behind him and caresses his face. He closes his eyes in contentment and smiles. When he least expects it, Christine tears off his mask, revealing his deformed face to her.

In his anger, the Phantom rounds on her furiously and sings/shouts these hurtful words. Christine, who is in shock, silently hands him back his mask which calms him down at last and eventually he forgives her for betraying his trust.
7. What are the two missing words in this quote from "Notes/ Prima Donna": "Who scorn his word/ Beware to those/ The Angel ____/ The Angel ____"?

Answer: sees, knows

Madame Giry sings this as a warning to Firmin and André when they refuse to obey the Phantom's orders. Unfortunately, they don't listen to her and everything ends in disaster.
8. In "Why Have You Brought Me Here/ Raoul I've Been There" Christine sings "His eyes will find us there!", referring to the Phantom. What does Raoul say to calm her down?

Answer: "Christine, don't say that..."

Since André and Firmin did not follow his orders, the Phantom decides to take revenge during the performance of "Il Muto" and kills Joseph Buquet, an old stagehand. Christine is out of her mind with fear, certain that the Phantom will come for her next and she and Raoul flee to the roof of the opera house.

But in spite of what they have just heard and seen, Raoul still refuses to believe that the Phantom is real and in this scene he tries repeatedly to assure Christine that she is perfectly safe, and that he will always be there to protect her.
9. In the beautiful love song "All I Ask of You" Raoul asks quite a few things of Christine. But which of the following does he NOT ask of her?

Answer: "Let me be your daylight"

On the roof Christine continues to worry, so Raoul breaks into the song "All I Ask of You" in which he declares his love for her and asks her to let him provide all the things she needs in her life. It is during this song that Christine finally gives in and she and Raoul share a kiss, unaware that the Phantom is hiding behind a statue and has heard and seen everything.
10. Finish this quote from "All I Ask of You (Reprise)": "I gave you my music/ Made your ..."?

Answer: song take wing

After declaring their undying love for each other, Christine and Raoul hurry off and the Phantom is left alone on the roof. He sings these words to himself as he takes a moment to mourn the loss of Christine. Then, suddenly, his sorrow is replaced with anger and he swears to himself that he will have his revenge: "You will curse the day you did not do/ All that the Phantom asked of you!".

This also marks the half-way point in the movie.
