After being treated to the welcoming puppet show, the five children and their adult escorts were surprised to find Willy Wonka watching the show with them. Grandpa Joe mentioned to Willy that he used to work for him. Willy's response revealed his bitterness towards the disloyal employees who sold his secret recipes to Willy's competitors, which resulted in everyone losing their jobs and the factory being closed down for a while.
When Grandpa Joe answered in the negative, Willy smiled and said, "Then wonderful, welcome back."

While being led into the factory, Violet threw her arms around Willy and introduced herself. Violet told Willy that she was the one who was going to win the special prize, and he responded with this line. After his response, Violet and her mother exchanged a meaningful look.

Unwilling to let Violet have the upper hand, Veruca also introduced herself, followed by Augustus. Willy then turned to Mike and said, "You're the little devil who cracked the system." After the guests first spotted the Oompa Loompas they wanted to know if they were real. Willy replied that they were indeed real and had come from Loompaland. Mr. Teavee interjected that there was no such place as Loompaland. He said that he should know since he taught High School Geography. After Augustus fell into the river of chocolate, and was sucked up into the pipe (where he was stuck for a while), Mrs. Gloop was upset as to the fate of her son. Upon finding out where the pipe went, she bemoaned the fact that her son would be made into fudge. Willy replied that he would never let that happen, because it would taste awful, and no one would buy it.
Mrs. Gloop was played by Franziska Troegner.

When the Oompa Loompas arrived with the boat to take the party down the river of chocolate, the Loompas were laughing. Violet asked Willy what was so funny and, instead of answering, he said that it must have something to do with the cocoa beans. He followed that up with this remark about chocolate. At this point Mrs. Beauregarde said, in a blatantly flirty manner, "You don't say?" Willy seemed a little frightened by this, and took a seat at the back of the boat, away from Mrs. Beauregarde.

Against Willy's advice, Violet insisted on trying the piece of gum that offered a three course meal. After she popped it in her mouth, everyone wanted to know how it was. She commented that it was amazing, that she could feel tomato soup running down her throat. Knowing what was going to happen, Willy tried to encourage her to spit the gum out.

She didn't of course, and turned into a blueberry.

Once Violet had swelled up to look like an enormous blueberry, Willy instructed one of the Oompa Loompas to take Violet to the juicing room where she would be squeezed 'like a little pimple'.

When Veruca saw the trained squirrels who removed the nuts from the shell, she decided that she had to have one. When Willy refused to sell one to her father, Veruca announced that she would get one herself. She slipped through the locked gate, and walked among the squirrels until she picked the one she wanted. As she approached the squirrel, Willy yelled this warning. The squirrels decided that Veruca was a bad nut, and sent her down the garbage chute.
Veruca was played by Julia Winter, and her father, who followed her down the chute, was played by James Fox.

Answer: Mike Teavee

After Mike had himself sent through the air into the television, he was retrieved in miniature form. Mike suggested that Willy just put him back through the other way, to restore him to his regular size. Willy replied with the above quote.

After establishing that Mike could not be put back through the other way to retain his size, Willy came up with the brilliant idea of sending him up to the taffy puller. When Mike's dad incredulously repeated "The taffy puller?", Willy said "Hey, that was my idea."

After Mike was sent off to be stretched, Willy decided to take stock before proceeding with the tour. When he realized that Charlie was the last child standing, so to speak, Willy announced that he was obviously the winner, and added that he had a hunch it would be Charlie.

After Willy told Charlie that the prize he had won was the Chocolate Factory, but he would have to live there, Charlie very excitedly asked if his family could come too. Willy answered that they could not, offering this quote as part of his explanation. After finally learning the value of family, Willy allowed Charlie to bring his whole family, house and all, into the grounds of the factory. One night, Grandma Georgina informed Willy that he smelled like peanuts, and she liked peanuts. This was Willy's reply.

In one of the flashbacks, after finally discovering how wonderful candy tasted, and despite the best efforts of his father to keep him away from it, Willy informed his father that he wanted to make candy for a living. Dr. Wonka announced that no son of his was 'going to be a chocolatier', so Willy threatened to run away. His father announced that he wouldn't be there when Willy came back, and he wasn't. Even though Willy was only gone for the rest of the day, his father had ripped up his house and moved away when Willy tried to return.
