Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where was the fifth ticket, which turned out to be a fake, reported to have been found?

Answer: Russia

The widely reported find of the fifth ticket, in Russia, ended Charlie's hopes of visiting the Chocolate Factory. When Charlie found the money and heard that the ticket in Russia was a fake, he decided to try one more time, and bought another bar, which contained the real fifth ticket.
2. How many chocolate bars did Charlie open to find the Golden Ticket?

Answer: 3

Charlie was first given one for his birthday, which he promptly shared with his parents and grandparents, once he saw that there was no ticket inside. Then his grandfather gave him money to buy another, which also failed to produce the desired ticket.

The third chocolate bar was purchased with money that Charlie found in the snow, just after it was discovered that the fifth ticket, that someone had claimed to find, was actually a forgery. This third bar turned out to be the lucky one.
3. When the gates finally opened, the winners (and their adult escorts) were summoned forward to watch the puppets sing and dance their welcome. Where was Willy during this show?

Answer: watching the show with them

After the puppets' welcome was over, and many of the puppets were in flames, Willy expressed his delight with the show. Violet asked who he was and Grandpa Joe, who had worked for Willy before, identified him. Veruca then asked why he wasn't up on stage and Willie replied that he couldn't see the show from up there.
4. What was the Oompa Loompa's main source of food in Loompaland?

Answer: green caterpillars

When Willy went looking for new flavours for his candy, he discovered the Oompa Loompas and sampled their steady diet of green caterpillars. Cocoa beans were the food they treasured the most, but were not able to find very often. Willy was able to talk them into coming to work for him with the promise of unlimited cocoa beans.
5. What word could Willy not say?

Answer: parents

Strangely enough, he had no trouble saying moms and dads, or any other derivative of those words. Willy's experiences with his stern, candy-hating, dentist father very much molded who he became. When Willy announced that he was running away, his father said that he wouldn't be there when Willy returned, and he wasn't - he even went to the trouble of moving the entire house.
6. What actor played Willy's father?

Answer: Christopher Lee

Dr. Wonka's stern disapproval of candy influenced Willy's choice of profession. His reaction to Willy's announced intentions to become a candy-maker, helped shape Willy into an isolated, lonely man. With Charlie's help, Willy went to see his father, which helped lay to rest some old ghosts.
Christopher Lee's movie career started in 1948, when he was 26 years old. Since that time he has appeared in literally hundreds of movies and television shows, very notably as villains in both the 'LOTR' and 'Star Wars' trilogies.
7. While obnoxious and aggressive, Mike Teavee had a habit of speaking some cold, but obvious truths. How did Willy deal with Mike's comments and observations?

Answer: by telling Mike that he was mumbling

Whenever Mike said something that Willy could not refute, but did not want to hear, Willy would respond by accusing Mike of mumbling, and tell him that he couldn't understand a word he was saying. Mike was the winner who 'beat the system' and mathematically calculated where to find one of the Golden Tickets.

He only had to buy one chocolate bar to get it, which was good since he didn't like chocolate, and didn't understand the whole principal behind candy.
8. When they were in the glass elevator, Willy allowed Mike to pick which room they would go to next. Which room did Mike pick?

Answer: the TV room

Mike's obsession with TV made this room irresistible to him. Here he saw how Willy was experimenting sending a chocolate bar into a television, where it could be retrieved by whoever was watching the TV. Due to the differences in size, Willy needed to send a bar that was considerably bigger than the size of the one that ended up in the TV. Mike decided that he wanted to be sent into the TV too, and ended up arriving unhurt, but only a few inches tall.

He was then sent to the taffy-pulling room, where he became much taller, but ended up being paper-thin.
9. What area did Willy say was the newest addition to the factory?

Answer: the puppet hospital and burn centre

The puppet show, that Willy put on to welcome his visitors, resulted in many of the puppets catching fire. These puppets, many of them scorched, could be seen in the puppet hospital and burn centre, being given first aid for their injuries and burns.
10. Her experience with the full-meal stick of chewing gum left Violet violet. What heightened ability did she have, after blowing up like a huge blueberry, and having the juice squeezed out of her?

Answer: She was much more flexible.

After Violet ate the gum, against Willy's advice, she swelled up like a blueberry and had to be juiced. When her mother asked how she would be able to compete, Veruca suggested taking her to the fair. At the end of the film, we see Violet tumbling and flipping her way out of the factory, excited about her new flexibilty, and not at all worried about her new colour.
