Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Pontiac provided most of the vehicles in this movie. What was the car used by Sheriff Justice?

Answer: LeMans

The car Pontiac had picked for the good sheriff's car was the Pontiac LeMans. This car was boxy in the front and rounded in the back. By the end of the movie, the car Sheriff Justice was using would be missing the roof, door, and a wheel, which came off during the closing credits of the movie.
2. What was the handle of the trucker who warned Bandit of a "county mounty roadblock" at Fayetteville and I-82?

Answer: Silver Tongued Devil

In the movie, he alerted the Bandit of a "county mounty roadblock" which he had passed through and had gotten a ticket for something. He alerted the Bandit that the roadblock was at the Fayetteville Exit at Interstate 82. Silver Tongue Devil was introduced towards the beginning of the movie.

He was called Silver Tongue Devil because he would always look out for other truckers and alert them to dangers even if he was in a "bear trap" himself.
3. What was the make of truck driven by Snowman?

Answer: Kenworth

The truck used in the movie was a Kenworth W900 Conventional Cab. There were three of these trucks used throughout the movie and they were all painted the famous coffee brown color with two wide gold stripes down each side. The trailer used in the movie was a 48' Hobbs trailer which was built in Texas. It had a King "reefer" (refrigeration)unit on it to keep the beer cold.
4. What was the handle of the guy in the hearse who said that "they would hold this county mounty as long as possible"?

Answer: Graverobber

After the diner scene, Carrie was in command of the Trans Am. As she made a left hand turn, she cut off a funeral procession. In the hearse, one of the guys said, "Hey, you know who that was? Check this out. Hey, Bandit, this here's the Graverobber. Put your foot on the floor and we'll hold this county mounty as long as possible. Come on?" Bandit told Carrie to go and she said "I'm going I'm going! I've got the medal to the pedal and the thing to the floor!" That line was most likely an outtake, but was left in for comedic purposes.
5. Carrie's handle was Toad.

Answer: False

Carrie's name was Frog because "she was always hopping around And that she was cute like a frog." The name stuck for the rest of the movie and in "Smokey and the Bandit II".
6. What type of car was Carrie's car?

Answer: Chevrolet Impala/Caprice

Carrie's car was a Chevy Impala/Caprice. This particular model was a 2-door sedan and was brown in color. It also had a black colored roof. Justice spotted a bunch of guys taking the tires off this car and proceeded to give one of them an "attention getter".
7. What was the handle of the lady who was involved in an accident?

Answer: Good Witch of the North

As Bandit and Snowman were speeding along, an elderly lady's voice crackled over the radio. "Bandit, honey, this is the Good Witch of the North speaking, you'd better not come this way. There's been a little fender-bender here on 64." It was apparent that her lack of using a turn signal caused her wreck on 64 because after she was done talking to the Bandit, a cop walked up to her and said, "Lady, don't you know you're supposed to signal?" She responded with saying, "Oh, really?"
8. What was on Bandit's license plate, according to one of the car vandals?

Answer: BAN-ONE

As Sheriff justice was inquiring about the Bandit's car, he asked a series of questions. One question he asked was about the license plate of the Trans Am that Bandit drove. One of the vandals said to him, "Georgia plates. BAN-ONE." Sheriff Justice thanked the man and took off in pursuit of the black Trans Am.
9. What was the handle of the driver driving the moving truck?

Answer: Little Beaver

After eluding the highway patrol through the use of a truck convoy, a female trucker came over the CB. "Hey Bandit, this is Little Beaver. Put your foot to the floor 'cause we've got your back door." She was a small petite thing but handled a truck well. For you truck fans, the truck was a Ford.
10. When Bandit asked about a "portable gas station up ahead", what was the driver's handle that answered?

Answer: Mr. B

In one of my favorite scenes, Bandit was getting ready to roll up on a convoy. Looking ahead, he said over the CB, "Breaker 1-9, I see a portable gas station up ahead, do you copy?" He was relieved to hear the voice of the driver come back and say, "This is Mr. B and I'm gearjamming this rolling refinery. Do you have another Smokey on the rubber?" Bandit asked if they could slip into their convoy and Mr. B said, "Come ahead on, Bandit, we'll slip you into the rocking chair. Play a little hide and seek." They used Little Beaver and the moving truck to hide the car from the passing troopers.
11. What name did Snowman give the motorcycle cop who stopped him for speeding into Georgia?

Answer: Evil Knievel

After Snowman speeds past the "Welcome to Georgia" sign, he began to hear a whine from a police motorcycle. It was coming for him. Snowman got on the CB and said, "Hey Bandit, Hey Bandit, listen to this...(hears whine through radio)...you know who that is? That's Mr. Evil Kneivel.

He musta snuck in my back door when I wasn't lookin'. You'd better flip-flop back here and gimme a hand or we'll be in a heap of trouble. Please Roger that transmission." Bandit told him that help was on the way and doubled back to help.

The Evil Kneivel that Snowman referred to was actor Sonny Shroyer, who would later play another cop on the hit series, "The Dukes of Hazzard". The cop told Snowman that he was doing 96 mph!
12. What was the name given to most state troopers in the movie?

Answer: Smokey

State troopers were known as "Smokey" because most wore a ranger-style hat that sometimes resembled a Smokey the Bear hat. Most truckers usually called state troopers and highway patrolmen "Bears" and if they were pulled over, it was called a "Bear Trap".
13. What did Bandit call the little diner he stopped at to drop off Carrie?

Answer: choke and puke

Bandit alerted Snowman that he was dropping Carrie off at a choke and puke. This was usually a term used by truckers to describe small eating joints such as fast-food or diners. Truckers sometimes called them that because of the fact that the food would not agree with them later; hence the name.
14. What was the name of the girl who worked the restaurant near the fairgrounds?

Answer: Hot Pants Hilliard

As Bandit was racing along the highway after eluding police in the convoy, he had a "load of Smokeys on his tail". He called on the radio after he heard one of his old girlfriends on the CB. This was Hot Pants Hilliard who worked as a waitress at a southern diner. She got together her friends in their vehicles and, as one of the group members said, "We're going for a Smokey red 22." As the Bandit escaped again, Hilliard's group pulled in front of the police cruisers and went real slow to buy Bandit more time.
15. What term did Snowman use for a police cruiser?

Answer: all of these

Snowman actually used all of these. He called Sheriff Justice's car a "Texas Bubble Gum Machine". Just before pulling into Mississippi, he passed another cruiser heading the opposite way and said, "I just passed another Kojak with a Kodak". Mostly, he just used the term, "Bears" to describe the officers.
