Answer: in his throne

Thror was seen sitting on his throne, with the Arkenstone set into the back, above his head. In the panic surrounding the dragon's attack, Thror released the stone from his throne and took it with him. He lost his grip on it and it got buried in the rest of the golden treasure, where he was unable to retrieve it, because of the dragon.

Answer: a doily

The dwarves handled Bilbo's dishes in a rough manner that had him squeaking in protest. Plates and mugs flew back and forth as they sang a song about all the things that Bilbo Baggins hated. At one point he grabbed a doily out of a dwarf's hand (which the dwarf had been using to dry dishes), telling him that it wasn't a dishcloth, it was a doily.

The dwarf replied that it was full of holes and Bilbo informed him that it was supposed to be because it was crocheted.

Answer: burglar

Thorin had approached Gandalf and asked him to find them a burglar. The addition of this burglar would also bring the number of their party to 14, which was not as unlucky as 13. Gandalf chose Bilbo, without letting him know, so Bilbo was quite surprised when the dwarves started arriving at his home.

When he learned that they wanted him to be their burglar, he sputtered that he'd never stolen anything in his entire life. He eventually signed on for the position, and every time something needed doing that involved stealth and quiet, he was called upon in his capacity of burglar.

Answer: his handkerchief

Once on the pony Bilbo began sneezing. He commented that he must be having an allergic reaction and started patting his pockets, looking for his handkerchief. When he found it wasn't there he called out loudly for the party to stop, which it did. He then told them that he had forgotten his handkerchief and they needed to go back and get it. One of the dwarves tore Bilbo off a piece of his robe and offered that as a substitute. Gandalf commented that he was going to have to do without a lot more than his handkerchief before the adventure was over.

Answer: an apple

After establishing that his pony's name was Myrtle, Bilbo approached her at night and offered her an apple from his pocket, which she quickly ate. Bilbo told her that this treat was to be between him and her, presumably because the apple had been taken out of the supplies intended for the party to eat, not their mounts. Later, when the trolls took some of their ponies, Bilbo was quite distressed to see that Myrtle was one of the ponies they had taken.

Answer: the best way to cook the dwarves

The one troll was talking about using a little sage on the dwarves and Bilbo suggested something stronger, asking the trolls if they had smelled the dwarves. The troll who seemed most interested in cooking seemed quite involved in this discussion. Then Bilbo suggested that the best way to cook the dwarves was to skin them first.

This caused a lot of argument among the trolls, one of whom just wanted to get it done, even suggesting that they just sit on the dwarves and turn them into jelly. Bilbo then suggested that the dwarves all had parasites and the trolls shouldn't eat them at all.

The dwarves were initially offended by this, but then Thorin realized what Bilbo was doing and soon they were all agreeing. The discussion went on long enough for Gandalf to arrive and split the rock that was hiding the sunrise. Exposed to the sun, the trolls turned to rock.

Answer: blue

This conversation happened while they were riding along, Bilbo and the dwarves on ponies and Gandalf on a horse. Gandalf's remark to Bilbo that he couldn't remember the names of the two blue wizards was a clever way of getting around the fact that the names of these wizards were mentioned in Tolkien's "Unfinished Tales", a work that Jackson did not have the rights for.

The names of these wizards were Pallando and Alatar.

Answer: Viggo Mortensen

Ian Holm played the older Bilbo in "LOTR". He could be seen reprising this role at the beginning of "The Hobbit", writing his memoirs about his adventures.
Elijah Wood played Frodo the ring-bearer in "LOTR". He could also be seen at the beginning of "The Hobbit", talking to Bilbo and running out to meet Gandalf, due to arrive for Bilbo's birthday party.
Andy Serkis provided both the voice of and the movements for the CGI character Gollum in both "LOTR" and "The Hobbit".
Viggo Mortensen played Aragorn, a prominent character in "LOTR", who did not appear in the first installment of "The Hobbit".

Answer: eating mushrooms

Radagast had told Gandalf about an encounter with a necromancer. When Gandalf reported this to the council of Saruman, Galadriel and Elrond, Saruman dismissed the information because of Radagast's fondness of mushrooms, saying that they addled his brain and yellowed his teeth.

Answer: another entrance into the mountain

Moon runes can only be read at the same time of year and under the light of a same-shaped moon that was in the sky when they were written. The party was fortunate in that the time and moon shape were right for Lord Elrond to read the runes. These revealed the existence of a secret entrance into Erebor, which was great news since the main gates were guarded by the dragon.

The runes also gave directions about how to find the gate, which would only be visible one night of the year.

Answer: rock giants

Initially the party thought that the falling rocks were the result of the weather but they soon saw two massive rock giants fighting with each other. They took swings at each other and tore off huge chunks of the mountain and threw them at each other.

Many of these boulders barely missed the dwarves and also knocked the path out from under their feet. The party soon determined it wisest to get out of the way and found a cave to spend the night in.

Answer: A crack opened up in the floor of the cave and they fell through it.

Anxious to get away from the rock giants, the party did not check out the cave as thoroughly as they should have done. While most of them were sleeping, the sand in the middle of the cave started to pour out through a large crack in the floor, and the dwarves and Bilbo soon followed. Gandalf had disappeared earlier and was not with them.

When they landed, they were surrounded by goblins who hustled them along. Bilbo crouched down and the tide of goblins and dwarves parted around him. Unnoticed, he was able to slip away, still free but separated from his party.

Answer: Gollum would eat Bilbo.

A prisoner to the power of the ring, Gollum had lived for years underground, carrying on conversations with himself. Much of his conversation included speculation on how Bilbo would taste. At one point Bilbo mentioned the word game and Gollum got quite excited about playing a game.

They set upon the rules and engaged in a game of riddles, which Gollum played very well. Bilbo got him with a question about what he had in his pocket, which was not intended as a riddle but spoken out loud as he touched the ring he'd forgotten that he'd put in there. Gollum felt quite angry at losing and became angrier still when he discovered that his precious ring was missing, correctly guessing (but too late) that that was what was in Bilbo's pocket.

Answer: He jumped over Gollum.

Frustrated at being so close to his friends, yet unable to get past Gollum, Bilbo did raise his sword and consider killing Gollum. But Gollum looked such a picture of abject misery that Bilbo reconsidered, perhaps remembering advice Gandalf had given him about knowing when not to take a life. He gathered up his courage and jumped over Gollum, kicking him in the head as he flew past.

Answer: The eagles plucked them up and flew them out.

The situation was indeed grim, with some dwarves hanging from Gandalf's staff and each other's legs. Fortunately Gandalf spotted a moth, which he whispered to and sent off to get the eagles. The orcs were led by the white orc, Azog the Defiler, whose hand Thorin had cut off years ago.

He had a particular hatred of Thorin and his line, so Thorin jumped down to engage him in battle. Thorin did not do well right from the onset and things were looking pretty grim for him. Surprisingly Bilbo jumped down to defend Thorin but luckily the eagles flew in and scooped them up before anyone was killed.
