Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Gorr claims the Necrosword to kill who of these, his former deity?

Answer: Rapu

In the middle of an arid desert, Gorr travels on foot with his daughter, Love, while braving the harsh and forbidding landscape around them. Love, sadly, does not survive their crossing. Gorr, forced to bury her, ends up the last survivor of his people and, in his darkest moment, is called upon by whispers on the wind. The voice leads him, to his shock, to an oasis and water spring where he comes upon his own god, Rapu, having just felled the wielder of a Necrosword before he could kill another god with the blade.

Rapu berates Gorr, suggesting that there is no eternal salvation for him or his people despite his life of servitude. It's why Gorr renounces Rapu as his god, leading Rapu to determine he should die for his decision. The Necrosword, however, places itself into Gorr's hands and promises him vengeance and power if he slays the gods as its new wielder. He starts with Rapu, destroying the deity and moving on with the powers of darkness in his hand.
2. Jane wants to lay her hands on the shards of Mjolnir for which of these reasons?

Answer: To cure her terminal illness

Somewhere in the deep recesses of space, Thor, still fighting alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy, is called upon to assist in battle (though he's trying his best to be less aggressive and more meditative). King Yakan, of the planet the Guardians have been called to protect, informs him that they were once a place of peace, but their gods were murdered and their sacred temple was desecrated as a result. Thor tells Yakan that Thor and his misfit desperados will turn the tide of battle before casting aside his robe, taking Stormbreaker in hand, and destroying the enemy forces to the tune of Guns 'N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle". His fighting destroys the fragile temple as well, but hey-- it's a classic Thor adventure. Hoorah!

On Earth, Dr. Jane Foster is in the hospital with Darcy by her side. Having been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, she waits through chemo and anxiously prepares to return to the lab despite this. Darcy recommends her friend play the Space Viking card instead, taking the negative news as a sign that she embark on a trip to be with the man she loves instead of working to her deathbed. Browsing through a book of Viking myth, she realizes that the Mjolnir might be able to help, imbuing its wielder with great stamina and health.

In New Asgard, formerly Tønsberg, Norway, Valkyrie excels in her role as the leader of the newly-established home of the Vikings. Though it's also a tourist town and cruise ship port of call, it's a welcoming and successful destination due in part to her leadership. It's there that the shards of Mjolnir, having been destroyed by Hela, remain sealed away. It's where Jane heads, arriving to find it ready for her arrival.
3. Thor splits off from the Guardians of the Galaxy, taking with him a gift for saving a planet in distress. What is this gift?

Answer: Screaming goats

After receiving his just rewards for saving a far-away planet (the gift of screaming goats), Thor and the Guardians find that there are thousands of distress calls across the galaxy, many of which alert possible saviours of the God-Butcher, travelling across space to kill their sacred deities. Amongst these distress calls is one specifically for Thor from Sif, who urges him to come back. Peter Quill recommends that they split up from Thor to pursue these calls for help and the Asgardian realizes he needs to go it alone.

Thor, Korg, and the goats use the Stormbreaker to teleport themselves directly to the site of Sif's signal to find a dead god, Falligar, God of the Falligarians, on a frozen planet, and from a vantage point above he locates Sif, fallen in the tundra, missing an arm below. She's still alive when he finds her, and she explains she's been hunting a madman but he managed to escape. He claims to be the God-Butcher, and he's headed directly for New Asgard.

Under the cover of night, Gorr watches over New Asgard and uses his Necrosword to unleash shadowy creatures through its streets. As Valkyrie swoops in to fight, Thor returns to join in the battle with his people. As the Asgardians fight, Thor is shocked to see Mjolnir, repaired, flying through the fray. Though he reaches to grab his beloved former weapon, it flies back into the hands of its new wielder-- Jane.
4. Gorr visits New Asgard, stealing which of these from the people residing there?

Answer: Their children

Thor is surprised to come across Jane at all. When the pair were in a relationship, the two grew to love each other very much, but each feared the possibility of a future of loss. Eventually, the two began to drift apart. Thor went off to save humanity while Jane continued to establish groundbreaking research doing much of the same. One day, Jane left Thor a note and broke it off. Nonetheless, at one point in their time together, Thor asked Mjolnir to protect Jane at all costs. It was that request that became truth. As Thor continues to fight with a new weapon, Jane uses Mjolnir to battle through New Asgard.

In the battle, Thor spies Gorr as he slips through the fighting crowd. Wielding the Necrosword, Gorr manages to get the upper hand and pin Thor down, but they find themselves quite evenly matched. Gorr eventually escapes into the night. Though Thor and the others appear to have held the shadow creatures at bay, they've actually managed to abscond with the children of New Asgard, sealing them away and disappearing.

Though Thor and Jane argue a bit over the note, considering they've been split for eight years, they break off their verbal sparring to attend to the frightened town. Thor gives a rousing speech to the New Asgardians and heads out to find the children (failing to do so). When he returns, he's actually given a lead by Heimdall's son, Astrid, who now goes by the name Axl. Helping the boy use his father's magic, he determines that they're trapped in the Shadow Realm. The catch is that they'll need help to get the children out. And for that, they have to go to Omnipotence City.
5. When Thor visits Omnipotence City, who is the leader of the Gods?

Answer: Zeus

The first order of business, after running down the list of possible additions to the rescue party, is for Thor and the others to get to Omnipotence City, but with Stormbreaker struggling to transport Thor through the cosmos, it's not so easy. Jane reasons that the weapon just needs a powerful engine to focus its power, and with that, Valkyrie offers up the town's ship. It takes a short bit of packing for the journey and a bit of convincing, but before long they head off on their voyage (with the screaming goats leading the way).

In the Shadow Realm, Gorr comes upon the children in their cage and extinguishes their hope. While Axl attempts to tell stories of Thor's successes, Gorr decapitates a shadow creature, terrifying the children. He reminisces about his own daughter and awaits Thor's arrival. He's counting on it.

Landing in Omnipotence City, Thor, Jane, Valkyrie, and Korg proceed on foot and it's just one more opportunity for Thor and Jane to reconnect. Valkyrie lets Thor know she detects a reemergence of the couple's feelings for one another, but she's definitively Team Jane. The four attempt to keep a low profile by blending in as Emotion Gods, wearing coloured cloaks before they enter the Golden Temple. They take their seats, admiring the gods around them, but before long the King of Gods, Zeus, appears and takes his seat.
6. It is believed that Gorr may seek the location at which he can ask for a wish from what cosmic being?

Answer: Eternity

Once the fanfare dies down and the Holy Council of the Gods comes to order, Thor and the others discuss the possibility of stealing his Thunderbolt and using it to rush the Shadow Realm. Their talking from the bleachers doesn't go unnoticed, however, and soon Thor is called to speak onstage before the Mighty Zeus. He speaks about the God Butcher and his conquest to kill the gods of the universe, but Zeus is unbothered-- he killed some lesser gods, after all. Zeus attempts to send him back to his seat, but Thor's defiance gets him chained to the stage and revealed. Zeus reiterates that Asgardian problems aren't the problems of the other gods; Thor asserts that Zeus is just afraid. That's what gets him talking.

Zeus assures Thor, quietly, that he's not necessarily afraid, but he knows of the power of the Necrosword and does not wish to put himself or the other gods into a place of vulnerability. Besides this, they are safe in Omnipotence City. Thor asks if he can use Thunderbolt to stop Gorr, but Zeus refuses to help with this as well.

Instead, Zeus tells the council room that the God Butcher can never reach Eternity. Valkyrie explains the meaning of this to Jane, suggesting that Eternity is a powerful being who will grant the desire of the first person who reaches it. Gorr doesn't know the location of the Altar of Eternity, but the Gods do. And that's why Thor and the others can no longer leave, else they'll reveal the secret and put them all at risk. Valkyrie puts her plan into action at this go-ahead, and the foursome make moves to fight their way out.

Thor and the others commence battle with Zeus' guards before Zeus fires his Thunderbolt directly through Korg, disintegrating him into pieces. Zeus threatens that Thor will be next, but when he tosses his weapon at the Asgardian, Thor grabs it instead, tossing it back and through the Leader of the Gods. Thor is able to locate Korg's still-living face and pull him from the rubble. As Valkyrie ties him to the back of her head, he whistles for the screaming goats, calling them and their boat into the Council chamber. Valkyrie grabs Thunderbolt before they depart Omnipotence City.
7. It's revealed that Gorr needs to access which of these as part of his master plan?

Answer: The Bifrost

Thor, Jane, Valkyrie, and the remainder of Korg head back out into the cosmos bound for the Shadow Realm and while there is, technically, less of their group than there was before and no sign of an army to back them up; they have Thunderbolt in-hand.

Thor takes the opportunity to reassure Stormbreaker that there are no feelings remaining between him and Mjolnir and he reunites with Jane on deck. All four shipmates muse on love amongst each other, but Thor comes to the point where he admits to wanting to be back together with Jane. She admits to having cancer, as well, but Mjolnir might have helped her. Neither of them know what tomorrow holds though, and together, they can save the New Asgardian kids.

Before long, their ship arrives in the Shadow Realm and they investigate the small planet there. It doesn't take long, however, before Jane discovers it's a trap; they've been lured to the Shadow Realm to relinquish Stormbreaker, a key necessary to access the Bifrost and allow Gorr to access the Altar of Eternity. Jane casts Stormbreaker away in an effort to prevent Gorr from getting what he seeks. Nonetheless, they're quickly captured.
8. Does Jane survive her affliction?

Answer: No

Gorr pries into the thoughts and minds of Thor, Valkyrie, and Jane, aiming to understand a bit more about them before he plans to kill them. When he comes around to Jane, however, he sees similarities he shares with her, the fact that they're dying being one of them. Just as the Necrosword empowered him, Mjolnir helped her. It could never change her fate, however; the gods will use her but not save her. One thing to consider a blessing, Gorr says, is that his daughter wouldn't have to live in a world of suffering and pain run by wicked gods.

Thor inevitably calls upon Stormbreaker to free himself and the others, but it tears apart the small planet. Gorr summons forth shadow creatures to take them out, but the battle is complicated. Thor knows he needs to take Gorr alive to locate and save the children. The ship is destroyed in the fight and Valkyrie is able to use Thunderbolt to get an attack in on their foe, but Gorr gets the upper hand, stabbing Valkyrie in the back with her own weapon. Thor and the others choose to retreat instead, using Stormbreaker to return to New Asgard...but Gorr manages to grab hold of the axe and keep it with him in the Shadow Realm.

As the group crash lands back on Earth, Jane is separated from Mjolnir and reverts back to her powerless form. With the cancer still deep in her body, she can't even crawl back to the weapon to save herself. In the coming days she and Valkyrie are brought to the hospital for treatment. Thor has to inform her that every time she uses Mjolnir, it drains her of her mortal strength; her body is unable to fight the cancer no matter what she does if she persists in being the Mighty Thor. He asks her to stay back so that they can be together when the battle is said and done and she reluctantly remains behind.
9. Who is able to join Thor in the final battle against Gorr, destroying the Necrosword?

Answer: Jane

As Thor departs, he meets with Valkyrie who, also sitting out because of her wounds, reminds him that the Gate to Eternity rests at the center of the universe. He just needs to destroy the sword...but he'll have to do it alone. She gives him Thunderbolt and he heads onward just in time for Gorr and the kids to reach the Altar and for Gorr to use Stormbreaker to gain entry.

Thor saves the kids at the last moment and Gorr jumps to the defensive. Thor briefs the kids on the plan, has them grab any weapons they can, and gives them a rousing battle speech before declaring them Space Vikings and bestowing his powers upon them. With that, they all proceed into battle, delving into combat against Gorr's army while Thor leaps past and battles the God Butcher. The issue, however, emerges when Gorr overpowers him, casting Thunderbolt away.

On Earth, Jane awakens with a sense of unease and Mjolnir, still by her side, quivers in eagerness to join the battle. Despite the risk, she arrives at the center of the universe just in time to prevent Gorr from dealing the killing blow, sacrificing herself for one last time as Mighty Thor. The two try to stop Stormbreaker and hold off Gorr, succeeding just in time for Thor to send the axe home with Axl and the children, but the damage is done. Thor and Jane sunder the Necrosword and destroy its fragments, signifying a death sentence for both Gorr and Jane...just as the three are brought before the Altar of Eternity.
10. With his single wish, what does Gorr request?

Answer: Love

As Gorr kneels before Eternity, Thor and Jane implore him to reconsider his mission to kill the gods. He does not seek revenge, Thor reasons, but Love. Gorr has won, he says, and he chooses to be with Jane while he still can. Gorr can make any wish he wants; it doesn't matter to him. As he watches Thor go to Jane's side in her dying moments, he realizes that he, too, is dying. Realizing that if Love returns, no one would be there for her, Jane says that she would not be alone.

With this, Gorr makes his wish and Love returns to him. He spends his final moments with her. At the same time, Jane says her final words to Thor, remaining thankful that Mjolnir gave her the chance to spend one last adventure with him. She tells him to keep his heart open and reminds him that he loves her before dying in his arms. Before Thor departs, Gorr asks that he protect Love in his absence.

In the months to come, Thor returns to New Asgard to oversee a monument to Jane's heroism. The children of New Asgard returned to their families, and soon after, Valkyrie and Sif trained them in self-defence, starting a wave of new protectors. Korg's body grew back, and he embarked on his own journey with a new boyfriend, Dwayne.

Thor, meanwhile, starts a new journey of his own, raising Love with an open heart out in space. As Thor grabs Mjolnir, Love grabs Stormbreaker and the two of them rush out to save those in need.
