Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Uncle Owen purchased some new droids.

The purchase of the new droids happened at around 0:19 in "A New Hope".

Joseph Campbell wrote "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" in 1949, in which he described the "Hero's Journey" or "monomyth". It's the idea that there is a template for stories with a hero that spans cultures and time. George Lucas followed the Hero's Journey explicitly when writing "Star Wars". When the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 were purchased, this was the Call to Adventure on Luke Skywalker's journey.
2. The planet Alderaan was destroyed.

To make sure audiences knew just how evil the Empire was, Grand Moff Tarkin used the new Death Star to destroy an entire innocent, peaceful planet. This was part of new doctrine to use fear (explicily fear of the Death Star) to keep the star systems in line, rather than diplomacy. The galactic senate was dissolved around the same time.

Grand Moff Tarkin threatened Alderaan to get the location of the Rebel Base from Princess Leia. Leia gave the location, but Tarkin destroyed the planet anyway.
3. Luke Skywalker blew up the Death Star.

The Death Star blows up at 1:57 in "A New Hope," three minutes before the credits.

The climax of "A New Hope" was the Battle of Yavin. The Rebels had to destroy the Death Star before it blew up the moon with their base. Luke barely managed it in time, with the help of the Force and Han Solo.
4. Armoured walkers attacked the snowy Rebel base on Hoth.

The Battle of Hoth started around 0:24 in "The Empire Strikes Back", opening the movie with a big battle instead of putting it at the climax. The Rebels had a hidden base on Hoth that the Empire had just found using probe droids. The shield on the base would protect them from a planetary bombardment so the Empire had to send a ground force to clear the Rebels out. Rebel pilots, including Luke Skywalker, held off the Imperials while the rest of the base evacuated.

One of the coolest creations in "Star Wars" (though not necessarily practical) were the All-Terrain Armoured Transports (AT-ATs) seen in the Battle of Hoth. Their armour was too strong for conventional blasters, so the Rebels had to use tow cables from their speeders to wrap up their legs and topple them.
5. Han Solo and Princess Leia hid in a space slug.

This scene happened at around 0:40 in "The Empire Strikes Back", soon after the conclusion of the Battle of Hoth.

The Millennium Falcon needed repairs in "The Empire Strikes Back", with its hyperdrive in particular. Unable to run from the Imperials, Han Solo flew into the asteroid field to lose his pursuers, and eventually hid in what he thought was a cave. It turned out to be more than that.
6. Lando Calrissian betrayed his friends.

Han Solo won the Millennium Falcon from his old smuggler friend, Lando Calrissian. Lando had since taken up a legitimate business overseeing a gas mining operation on Bespin. Han Solo flew to his friend for help and a place to hide, but the Empire found out and got ahead of them.

They threatened Lando's city to make him betray his old friend. Darth Vader was revealed on Cloud City at 1:28 in "The Empire Strikes Back".
7. Luke Skywalker lost a hand.

Luke Skywalker rushed off to Bespin to save his friends, well before he was ready, to fight Darth Vader. The result was Luke losing his right hand in a lightsaber fight. Once literally disarmed at 1:50 in "The Empire Strikes Back", Vader dealt the real blow: revealing he was Luke's father.
8. Crime boss Jabba the Hutt was killed.

The first act of "Return of the Jedi" had the heroes rescuing Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt. The heroes were taken into the Dune Sea on the desert planet of Tatooine to be executed by being thrown into the Great Pit of Carkoon. Instead of the heroes jumping nicely into the pit, they fought back.

A lot of Jabba's own minions were thrown into the pit, his sail barge was destroyed, and the big slug himself was strangled to death by Princess Leia at 0:34 in "Return of the Jedi".
9. Cute Ewoks thought C-3PO was a god.

The Rebels sent a small strike team to the forest moon of Endor to destroy the shield generator protecting the second Death Star. When they arrived, the adorable primitive local population mistook the golden robot C-3PO for a god, and tried to cook the other heroes for a banquet in his honour.

The Ewoks first saw C-3PO at the 1:10 mark in "Return of the Jedi", about half-way through the movie.
10. The evil Emperor was thrown down a shaft.

At the end of the trilogy, the Emperor tortured Luke with lightning, which finally broke Darth Vader from the Dark Side of the Force. Vader picked up his Sith master and threw him down a shaft into the second Death Star's reactor at 1:57 in "Return of the Jedi". Vader himself soon succumbed to his injuries. With the Sith destroyed and the Empire fractured and leaderless, the Republic was reestablished.
