Motti sees the Death Star as a more powerful force than Vader's "sorceror's ways". As punishment for this lack of faith, Vader treats Motti to a telekinetic strangulation, until Grand Moff Tarkin calls a halt.

The cast list for "Star Wars" lists the two imperial officers in the conference room scene as General Motti and General Taggi. However, www.starwars.com notes them as Admiral Motti and General Tagge. These latter forms are the ones I have used throughout the quiz. The situation is further confused by the fact that many of the officers are referred to as simply "commander", regardless of rank.

Answer: Admiral Ozzel

Ozzel brought the imperial fleet out of hyperspace too close to Hoth, alerting the rebels to their presence.

Viewers of the BBC children's TV series "Grange Hill" will appreciate the true villainy of the Empire - Michael Sheard, who played Admiral Ozzel, also appeared as Mr. Bronson, Grange Hill's evil and bewigged French teacher. In fact, such is Hollywood's love for casting British actors in sinister and villainous roles that many of the imperial officers are played by British actors, including Grand Moff Tarkin, Moff Jerjerrod, General Veers, General Tagge, Admiral Piett and Captain Needa in addition to Admiral Ozzel.

Answer: Grand Moff

Grand Moff Tarkin was played by Peter Cushing, famous for playing Van Helsing to Christopher Lee's Dracula in the Hammer horror films.

I have absolutely no idea what a moff or a grand moff is.

Answer: General Veers

Veers is very cool and assured during the battle and rightly so, as he successfully destroys the rebels' power generator.

Answer: Admiral Piett

Captain Piett is promoted to admiral on the death of Admiral Ozzel in "The Empire Strikes Back" and given control of the imperial fleet. He later appears, still commanding the Super Star Destroyer "Executor", in "Return of the Jedi", dying when an errant rebel fighter crashes into the bridge of that ship.

General Veers appears in only "The Empire Strikes Back" while Admiral Motti and General Tagge both appear only in "A New Hope". Apparently Moff Jerjerrod, who originally appeared in only "Return of the Jedi", appears in the Special Edition of "The Empire Strikes Back" as that edition utilised archive footage from "Return of the Jedi".

His concerns are dismissed by Admiral Motti but, of course, are ultimately proved to be justified.

Captain Needa takes a shuttle to Vader's ship to apologise in person and gets the telekinetic strangulation treatment for his trouble.

Moff Jerjerrod is in charge of the construction of the second Death Star. Construction is behind schedule, however, and Darth Vader is dispatched to speed things along.

Answer: No one

Admiral Piett's men were to have deactivated the hyperdrive on the Falcon while on Cloud City - which they did. However, it was reactivated by R2-D2 and the Falcon escaped. Having seen Vader dispatch two of his fellow officers, Piett expected to be next but instead Vader just stalked off, to the surprise of everyone on the Super Star Destroyer's bridge.

Answer: rebel scum

This is one of my favourite lines from the entire trilogy. However, Lt. Renz's arrogance is, of course, ultimately misplaced, as the rebel scum later destroy the Death Star's shield generator which leads, in turn, to the destruction of the second Death Star itself.
