Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The comedic duo of C-3PO and R2-D2 are the first characters we meet in "Star Wars: A New Hope" as they are on a ship under attack from an Imperial Star Destroyer. What does C-3PO say as the ship shudders around him?

Answer: "Did you hear that? They shut down the main reactor. We'll be destroyed for sure. This is madness!"

The movie opens with a small spaceship being chased and attacked by a much larger Imperial Star Destroyer. On the ship, C-3PO, speaking to R2-D2, is quick to portend their impending destruction.

Each of the other quotes given are spoken by C-3PO at different points in the movie franchise:

"I am not sure this floor is entirely stable." is from "The Phantom Menace" when we first meet the incomplete C-3PO;

"What's all this? A battle? There must be some mistake! I'm programmed for etiquette, not destruction!" is from "Attack of the Clones" during the battle on Geonosis when his head is attached to a battle droid; and

"I really don't see how that is going to help! Surrender is a perfectly acceptable alternative in extreme circumstances!" is from "The Empire Strikes Back" in response to Han Solo's describing his plan to escape the Imperial fleet in the garbage.
2. We are introduced to the villainous Darth Vader very early in "A New Hope", but the first time we see him we only hear his ominous machine-controlled breathing. What is the first thing he actually says?

Answer: "Where are those transmissions you intercepted? What have you done with those plans?"

Darth Vader's single-minded pursuit of what he wants is made evident with his introduction. We see right away that he will be an implacable enemy to overcome (by whoever the hero turns out to be). He is willing to risk political repercussions by attacking a diplomatic ship, killing nearly everyone on board, and (shortly after he is introduced) take the diplomatic envoy prisoner, dismissing all protests of innocence.

In this instance, Princess Leia has not yet been captured, and Vader is interrogating the captain of the diplomatic ship.
3. Our feisty 'damsel in distress' is introduced next. Princess Leia's ship is under attack and she keeps her head well, under the circumstances. What do we first hear her say?

Answer: "Darth Vader. Only you could be so bold."

Before we hear her speak, we see Princess Leia (from a distance) with R2-D2, as she sends him off with the plans to the Death Star and a mission to find Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. We see her next as she gets captured by some stormtroopers.

Leia's first words come as she is presented to Darth Vader, and she speaks to him with contempt before he even says a word to her. From there, though, the conversation goes nowhere, as Vader doesn't believe Leia's protests of innocence.
4. We meet the hero of the story, young Luke Skywalker, for the first time as he and his uncle are about to purchase some droids for their moisture farm. What is the first thing we hear Luke say?

Answer: "Doesn't look like we'll have much of a choice, but I'll remind him."

The Jawas are bringing out their wares as Luke and his Uncle Owen approach the transport. Before they can get too far, Aunt Beru calls out, "Luke, tell Owen that if he gets a translator to be sure it speaks Bocce." This is what Luke is responding to when he says the line.

The rest of the options are all things Luke actually says in the subsequent dialogue around the purchasing of C-3PO and R2-D2.
5. Obi-Wan (Ben) Kenobi is presented as a 'crazy old man' before we meet him onscreen, but we quickly see him for the wise mentor that he becomes for Luke. What is the first thing we hear from Obi-Wan following the attack on Luke by the Sand People?

Answer: "Hello there! Come here my little friend. Don't be afraid."

After Luke and C-3PO are attacked by Sand People, R2-D2 watches from a hiding place as Luke's speeder is being picked through. Along comes Obi-Wan Kenobi, a shadowy figure that scares off the Sand People. When R2 makes a small sound, 'Ben' turns to him and pulls back his hood, then tries to coax him out of hiding.

Of the other quotes given, two of them are during the first conversation that Obi-Wan has with Luke; the other one ("In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.") is spoken while training Luke on the Millennium Falcon, in response to Han Solo's scoffing.
6. Our introduction to the scoundrel pilot and smuggler Han Solo takes place in the Mos Eisley Cantina, as he introduces himself to Luke and Obi-Wan. What does he say?

Answer: "Han Solo. I'm captain of the Millennium Falcon. Chewie here tells me you're looking for passage to the Alderaan system."

Shortly before entering the city, Luke and Obi-Wan stop at an overlook, where Obi-Wan comments, "Mos Eisley spaceport: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious."

In the cantina, this is depicted through a myriad of rough-looking aliens and the attempted bullying of young Luke by an alien trying to pick a fight. Obi-Wan finds Chewbacca, and Han introduces himself as the four of them sit down to discuss business.
7. After escaping the Imperial attack on Hoth in "The Empire Strikes Back", Luke Skywalker goes to Dagobah to find the Jedi Master Yoda. While talking to R2-D2, Luke says, "I don't know. I feel like..." when a small green alien pipes in with what first line?

Answer: "Feel like what?"

Yoda presents himself to Luke as a bumbling, imbecilic creature in order to test his patience and his perceptiveness. Luke fails pretty miserably, but the ghost of Obi-Wan advocates on his behalf, helping Yoda to agree to train Luke to become a Jedi.
8. "You are free to use any methods necessary, but I want them alive. No disintegrations." These are Darth Vader's instructions to the group of mercenaries he has hired to find the Millennium Falcon. Boba Fett is the only one who responds, by saying what?

Answer: "As you wish."

Boba Fett is a man of few words, but he displays cunning in his ability to anticipate Han Solo's plan to escape the Imperial fleet by floating off with the garbage. Fett follows the Millennium Falcon and (with Darth Vader) sets a trap for Solo and company at Cloud City on Bespin.
9. We meet an 'old friend' of Han Solo's at Bespin's Cloud City, but is he really a friend? Are Lando Calrissian's first words really, "Why, you slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler! You've got a lot of guts coming here, after what you pulled."?

Answer: Yes

Lando really throws Han for a loop when he greets him this way, but moments later they are hugging like the best of friends reunited. It all turns out to be an act, however, as Lando gives them up to Darth Vader (and Boba Fett)... under threat, of course.
10. When R2-D2 and C-3PO present themselves to Jabba the Hutt on behalf of Luke Skywalker in "Return of the Jedi", Jabba exclaims "Bo Shuda!" The next thing he says is translated (in the subtitles) to state what?

Answer: "There will be no bargain."

Luke Skywalker gives Jabba a chance to make a deal, but he is smart enough to know that Jabba might not bargain. As a crime boss, Jabba is confident in his own untouchability, which is exactly what Luke expects, and he makes the necessary plans to rescue Han.

In the 1997 Special Editions, Jabba actually makes his first appearance in "A New Hope", meeting with Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon's hangar.
