Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Bill was constructing a boat for Georgie. Where did Georgie have to go to get the wax to seal the vessel?

Answer: Basement

At the beginning of the film, we saw both Bill and his younger brother, Georgie. Bill was making a paper boat for George. It was raining outside, so it was a perfect day to try the ship out. Bill told Georgie to get some wax so he could seal the boat against water. Georgie was taken back by this request because the wax was in the basement. It became quite apparent that Georgie was afraid of the basement.

The basement was indeed a dark and scary place. Georgie tried to turn the lights on in the basement. The lights, of course, did not work. Georgie would reluctantly descend into the basement looking for the wax. Once he found it, Georgie would run up the basement stairs as quickly as his little legs would go.
2. Bill warned Georgie to be careful while sailing the boat. What happened to Georgie while playfully running behind his boat?

Answer: George hit his head on a street barricade.

Georgie excitedly took the boat outside to try her out. Bill warned Georgie to be careful. Bill did not go with his younger brother because he was ill. Bill sensed that something was not right about this day, but he did not stop Georgie from playing outside. Bill watched from his bedroom window as Georgie raced off behind his boat.

Georgie was so excited to watch his boat glide in the streets of rainwater. He was not fully paying attention to his environment. Georgie was fixated on the movements of his boat. Georgie would pay for this lack of awareness. He ran headfirst into a street barricade and knocked himself down. Georgie was not seriously hurt and got right back up to catch up to his boat.
3. The S.S. Georgie as Bill had named the boat he made for his younger brother had been lost to the sewers. Who offered to give Georgie his boat back?

Answer: Pennywise

Georgie lost his boat in the sewers of Derry. Georgie would say, "Bill is going to kill me." As Georgie was leaving, we saw a clown appear in the gutters. This clown introduced himself to Georgie as Pennywise. Georgie was shocked by the appearance of Pennywise. Pennywise would tell Georgie he was with a circus. The circus had gotten blown away by a storm and ended up in the sewers.

Pennywise had tried several different tactics to get Georgie to come closer to the sewers. Georgie had been warned not to take things from strangers. Pennywise reminded Georgie of what he said earlier about Bill going to kill him. Georgie reluctantly moved closer to Pennywise to get his boat. As Georgie moved closer to the clown, Pennywise's eyes went from blue to yellow. Georgie reached into the sewer, and Pennywise bit down on his arm.
4. Stanley Uris was friends with Bill. What religion did Stan practice?

Answer: Judaism

It was the last day of the school year for Bill, Stanley, and their friends. Stanley had invited Bill and his other friends to his Bar Mitzvah. The group of boys was talking about what they thought would happen at the ceremony. As the three young men were talking in the halls of the school, Stanley joined them. Bill asked what the service meant. Stanley simplified his explanation for his friends. He told them he would read from the Torah, and then he would be considered a man in his faith.

Stanley was the son of the Rabbi. He was struggling through reading the Torah while practicing for his Bar Mitzvah. His father, who was listening to him, told him to return the book to his office. His dad was very displeased with Stanley's lack of progress. As Stanley entered his dad's office, we saw a photo of a woman holding a flute. Stanley returned the book to the shelf. Behind him, he heard the sound of something hitting the floor. As Stan turned around, the subject of the photo was standing behind him. Stanley quickly exited his dad's office.
5. While Bill, Stanley, and their friends walked through the hallways of school they passed by a group of kids. What was the name of the young man who licked his lips as they walked by?

Answer: Patrick

Patrick Hockstetter was a member of the Bower's Gang. The gang, of course, was led by Henry Bowers. As Bill and his friends walked by, they saw Patrick and Henry standing by their lockers. Patrick licked his lips at one of the boys. Patrick was often seen with an aerosol can and lighter.

He would light a significant flame using the aerosol can. Patrick was the first of Henry's gang to be murdered. Patrick was looking for Ben, who had escaped the group. Patrick would go into the sewers and met his demise at the hands of Pennywise.
6. Beverly Marsh was not very popular with the other girls from her school. What happened to Beverly in the girl's restroom?

Answer: Beverly had a trash bag of water dumped on her head.

Beverly was in a stall of the girl's bathroom. She was smoking a cigarette when Greta entered the bathroom. Greta's friends who were already in the bathroom showed Greta, which stall Beverly was in. Greta kicked the door of the stall, which shocked Beverly. Greta was accusing Beverly of being promiscuous.

While Greta was talking to Beverly, one of her friends was filling up a trash bag with water. The girl went into the stall next to Beverly and dumped the trash bag on top of Beverly's head. Beverly was quick enough to get her backpack over her head to prevent her from getting thoroughly drenched.

As Greta was leaving the bathroom, she remarked that at least Beverly would smell better now.
7. Beverly was exiting the school when she ran into Ben. What musical group was Ben listening to on his cassette player?

Answer: New Kids on the Block

Ben was getting his bike and looking around the school. Beverly had just exited the school and was trying to get by Ben. Beverly asked Ben what he was listening to on the walkman. As Beverly listened, Ben just shook his head in embarrassment. Beverly teased Ben about liking New Kids on the Block. As Beverly walked away, she told Ben to "Hang Tough". Ben replied, with "Please Don't Go, Girl". Both of these are songs performed by New Kids on the Block.

Later on in the movie, Beverly was in Ben's bedroom. She closed the door to his bedroom to reveal a poster of the New Kids on the Block. Ben, who had just made friends with Bill and the other guys, pleaded with Beverly to not show the guys the poster. Beverly smiled and opened the door concealing the poster once more.
8. Mike Hanlon was the homeschooled boy from Derry. What kind of animal did Mike's grandfather want him to slaughter?

Answer: Sheep

Leroy Hanlon was upset with his grandson. He told his grandson to go ahead and pull the trigger on the bolt-gun. Mike could not kill the sheep. Mike stood there with the gun aimed at the sheep's head but was unable to kill the animal. Leroy took the gun and shot the sheep himself. He told his grandson that if he were not smarter, he would end up just like the sheep.

Leroy Hanon operated the abattoir or slaughterhouse. He had become the guardian for Mike when Mike's parents died in a fire. Leroy cared very much for his grandson and ultimately just wanted Mike to be safe and happy.
9. Richie and Eddie were the trash talkers of the group of friends. What did Eddie's mom remind him to do before he left?

Answer: Eddie had forgotten to give his mom a goodbye kiss.

Bill, Eddie, and Richie were all at Eddie's house. They were stocking up on snacks for their expedition. The boys were planning on spending the day looking for Georgie. Bill was convinced his younger brother was not dead. As the boys were leaving, Eddie's mom asked them what they were doing. Bill lied and said he had gotten a new croquet set. Sonia Kaspbrak called out to Eddie as he was leaving.

She reminded him he did not give her a kiss goodbye. Richie would ask Sonia Kaspbrak if she wanted one from him too. Sonia Kaspbrak just shook her head with a look of bemusement on her face.
10. Henry was the leader of the group that was always bullying the Loser's Club. Oddly enough his father held a position of authority in Derry. In what profession did Oscar Bowers work?

Answer: Police Officer

Oscar Bowers, much like his son, was a bully. He was often seen bullying his son. Oscar had come outside where Henry was shooting his gun. Henry was about to shoot a cat with his dad's gun. Oscar would take the gun from Henry and then shoot it at the ground around Henry. Henry would cringe while his father did this. Oscar did this in front of Henry's friends, thus humiliating him further.

We first saw Oscar when he was at Derry High School. He was standing with the mother of a missing child. Oscar and several of his fellow police officers were helping the mother look for her child. Henry was bullying Bill and his friends. Henry would spot his father across the road starring at him. Henry told Bill he was in for a great deal of trouble that summer.
