"Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" was a huge hit in 1992, from which it seemed there was no escape, and it was one of the first mainstream lesbian love songs. The album though just could not catch a break with the record buying public. Music reviewers praised the album on the whole, likening her vocals to those of Belinda Carlisle and singling out her cover of Bob Dylan's "I Want You" for special praise, but the album failed to chart anywhere, other than USA where it reached number 51 on the Billboard 200.

Hank III followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Hank Williams and his dad, Hank "Bocephus" Williams Jr. when he embarked upon his country music career in 1999. Well, maybe not exactly as while his father and grandfather were known for their traditional country style, Hank III tends to mix a bit of heavy metal and a liberal dose into his music to form a country genre known as "cowpunk". "Damn Right, Rebel Proud" (2008) was his first album to hit the top 20 on the Billboard 200 in USA and his first to go top five on America's Billboard Country chart.

It included the singles "Six Pack of Beer" and "Long Hauls and Close Calls" (both 2008), neither of which troubled the charts.

Answer: Aretha Franklin

Although many fans welcomed Aretha's return to R&B and soul music without the contributions of rappers Lauryn Hill, Puff Daddy and Jermaine Dupri, the charts told a different tale.
"A Rose Is Still A Rose" (1998) charted higher than "So Damn Happy" (2003) on both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard R&B charts in USA, and ended up being her highest selling album of the 90s.

Answer: The Torpedoes

"Damn The Torpedoes" (1979) was the third album from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and remained the band's highest charting album until its number two position on America's Billboard 200 was equaled by "Mojo" in 2010.
The album also gave the band their first taste of top 20 singles chart success, when "Don't Do Me Like That" reached number ten on Billboard Hot 100 in USA and number three in Canada while the follow up single reached number two in Canada and number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 in USA.

Answer: Kendrick Lamar

"Damn" (2017) was Lamar's fourth studio album and featured contributions from Rihanna and U2 as well as production credits from Top Dawg, The Alchemist and BadBadNotGood amongst others.
The album was named in most music critic's lists of the best albums of 2017 and resonated with fans too as it outsold his 2015 album "To Pimp A Butterfly".
In addition to the US chart topper, "Humble", the album also gave Lamar the top 20 hits, "Loyalty" and "Love" (both 2017) on the same chart.

Answer: Way Too Damn Good

Although "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good" did well in specialist rock charts, including hitting the top spot in UK. It didn't fare quite as well as some of their previous singles in national charts.
The track was taken from the band's 2003 album, "The Long Road", from which the lead single was "Someday" which charted well in several countries including UK, USA, Netherlands and their native Canada, where it reached number one.

Answer: Buddy Guy

After a series of under performing albums, Guy had a nine year hiatus between "DJ Play My Blues" (1982) and this release.
"Damn Right, I've Got The Blues" (1991) marked a return to form for Guy and was praised my music critics and fans alike. The album was a top 50 hit in Netherlands, UK, Sweden and Canada and was especially well received in Australia where it hit the top 30 and New Zealand where it was a top 20 hit.
Sadly for Guy, it became another album that didn't break into the top 100 on the Billboard 200 in his native USA, and he would have to wait until 2008, when "Skin Deep" managed that, peaking at number 68.

Answer: Denmark

Lukas Graham, the band, actually take their name from founding member and lead vocalist, Lukas Forchhammer, whose middle name just happens to be Graham.
The band have a huge following in their native Denmark and had their first three albums all hit number one there, as well as having five number one singles between 2012 and 2015.
Unfortunately, "Not A Damn Thing Changed" didn't reach number one, stalling at number two.

Answer: The Best Damn Thing

Avil Lavigne had tasted success with tracks like "Complicated" (2002) and "Don't Tell Me" (2004) but with the mega success of "Girlfriend" (2007) she was suddenly everywhere. This was number one in so many countries, including her homeland of Canada, where 2002 track "Sk8er Boi" had only reached number 29.
"Girlfriend" was followed by "When You're Gone" (2007) which was a top ten hit in many countries, including UK where it reached number three and "When You're Gone" was followed by "Hot" (2007).
"Hot" was a top 20 hit in Australia and some European countries such as Austria as well as being her third Canadian top ten from the album, "The Best Damn Thing" and was followed by the album's title track.
Unfortunately, "The Best Damn Thing" (2008) never got any higher than number 75 in Canada and she would have to wait until 2011 for her next Canadian top ten, this being "What The Hell".

Answer: Damn Yankees

"Damn Yankees" is a baseball inspired musical by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross that originally premiered in 1955, running for over 1,000 performances on Broadway.
The show has been revived several times, most notably on Broadway again in 1994, where it won a Tony award and in London's West End in 1997, where it was nominated for the Olivier awards.
