Neil was diagnosed with diabetes and suffered from polio as a child, which left him with a weak left side and a limp. In 2005, Neil suffered a brain aneurysm, but his treatment was successful.
Although Neil has lived in the U.S. for many years, he has chosen not to give up his Canadian citizenship.
