The music director of the film, Anu Malik, is infamous for his 'inspired' tunes.

Incidentally, the basic storyline of the movie is also a direct copy of Robert Benton's "Kramer vs. Kramer" (1979).

Roy Orbison recorded this song in 1964. "Kal Ho Na Ho" was the first film to license the rights of a song. This may be because the producer Karan Johar was sued for using Geri Halliwell's 'It's Raining Men' without permission in an earlier film. However, this is a rare case and usually songs are just copied without giving any credit to the original composer or singer.
