Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which cast member of "The Carol Burnett Show" had a 1972 hit with the song "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia"?

Answer: Vicki Lawrence

The song was written by songwriter Bobby Russell who was Lawrence's husband at the time. Even though Russell didn't think the song would go anywhere, Lawrence felt it was sure to be a hit and recorded the demo herself and later did the song for release. She was right about it being a hit, as it was number one on both US and Canadian charts in 1973.

7. When The Doors appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in 1967, they originally agreed to change the line "Girl, you know we couldn't get much higher" for the performance of what song?

Answer: Light My Fire

The producer of the show didn't want The Doors to sing the line because sponsors felt it referenced the drug culture, so the band changed it during rehearsal. However, Morrison sang the original line in the actual performance. Sullivan, who was so angry that he wouldn't shake Morrison's hand before the band left the stage, told Morrison that the band would never perform on the show again to which Morrison replied, "We just 'did' Sullivan." In 1967, "Light My Fire" stayed at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks and also became a gold hit.
