Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Natasha Bedingfield's 2008 hit song has the lyrics, "I got a pocket, got a pocketful of --------." What word belongs in the blank?

Answer: sunshine

This should be very obvious if you have at least heard the title of the song!
"Pocketful of Sunshine" was released on February 12, 2008 and is on British singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield's second studio album. The music video is nice and I like the part where Natasha dances on the roof. Also, Natasha Bedingfield said that "Pocketful of Sunshine" is her favorite song.

Here is my favorite part of the song:
"Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me!
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me!
No, oh whoa!"

"Pocketful of Sunshine" is a very catchy song and the perfect song to listen to in the summer when all you want is get away from your troubles.
2. "So I turned the radio on, I turned the radio ---, and this woman was singing my song" From Lisa Loeb's "Stay (I Missed You)", what word completes this line from the chorus?

Answer: up

"Stay (I Missed You)" is the debut single by American singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb and it became her breakthrough song in 1994. The song was originally just called "Stay", but there are many other songs of the same name, so "(I Missed You)" was added on to make it stand out.

The chorus goes:
"So I turned the radio on, I turned the radio up,
and this woman was singing my song:
Lover's in love, and the other's run away,
lover is crying, 'cause the other won't stay.
Some of us hover when we weep for the other who was
dying since the day they were born.
Well, well, this is not that,
I think that I'm throwing, but I'm thrown."
3. From Adele's smash hit 'Rolling in the Deep', what word fills in the blank? "Throw your ---- through every open door! Count your blessings to find what you look for!"

Answer: soul

'Rolling in the Deep' is one of British singer-songwriter Adele's greatest hits and is on her second studio album, "21". It was released on November 29, 2010 and on February 12, 2012, it won three Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Short Form Music Video. Not only that, but the song's music video racked up three more awards and the song soared to the top of the "Billboard" charts.

The chorus:
"We could have had it all!
Rolling in the deep. . .
You had my heart inside of your hand!
And you played it
to the beat."

"Rolling in the Deep" was also featured in the sci-fi thriller film, "I Am Number Four", starring Alex Pettyfer and Diana Agron.
4. "Keep drinking ------, stare me down across the table while I look outside." This is a line from "King of Anything" by Sara Bareilles. What word belongs in the blank?

Answer: coffee

"King of Anything" is by American singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles and was released to the radio on May 10, 2010. It was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 53rd Grammy Awards, but "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga won. It is kind of like a "buzz-off" song, as Sara Bareilles would describe it, along with her other hit, "Love Song". I love both of those songs!

My favorite lines are:
"But you expect me to
jump up onboard with you,
right off into your delusional sunset."

I always imagine a guy standing on a moving train, holding out his hand to a girl on the ground, and she refuses to take his hand, so the train speeds away into the sunset, where she won't go with him. Just my imagination. . .
5. Lady Gaga has a song called "Edge of Glory" that starts with, "There isn't a reason you and me should be alone tonight, yeah, baby, tonight, yeah, baby."

Answer: false

'Edge of Glory' is by American singer Lady Gaga and is on her second stuio album, "Born This Way". The song was inspired by her grandfather's death (which doesn't sound very inspiring. . .), when she watched her grandmother and realized that love makes you win in life.

The real first verse of the song is:
"There ain't no reason you and me should be alone, tonight, yeah, baby, tonight, yeah, baby. I got a reason that you're who should take me home tonight."
6. "I hung up the phone -----, something happened for the first time deep inside, what a rush, what a rush!" From David Archuleta's "Crush", what word belongs in the blank?

Answer: tonight

"Crush" is the debut single by season seven "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta. This song is featured on the "Radio Disney Jams, Volume 11" album and it was also performed by David on February 7, 2009 on Nickeloden's "Crush Night".

The song's chorus:
"Do you ever think when you're all alone
all that we could be, where this thing could go?
Am I crazy or falling in love?
Is it real or just another crush?
Do you catch a breath, when I look at you?
Are you holding back, like the way I do?
'Cause I'm trying, trying to walk away,
but I know this crush ain't going away, going away!"
7. "Now I'm rollin' my window down. I love the ----, but I hate the ------." From Aly & AJ's song "Rush", what words fill in the blanks?

Answer: wind; sound

I love this song! "Rush" is by American singer-songwriters Aly & AJ Michalka (who are sisters). It is on their debut album, "Into the Rush" and was released to Radio Disney on October 14, 2005 to promote the Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) "Twitches". (The other Aly & AJ songs I recommend listening to are "Potential Breakup Song" and "Like Whoa".)

The chorus:
"Don't let nobody tell you your life is over!
Be every color that you are!
Into the rush now,
you don't have to know how,
know it all before you try."

I love this song because it makes you feel like you don't have to care about what anyone else thinks of you. You are yourself and that's how you should "be every color that you are".
8. By Jordan Pruitt, which words belong in the blanks? "Some get 'em for the ---, some get 'em for the ---, some play it like a --- just because they can."

Answer: money; things; game

"One Love" is by American singer-songwriter Jordan Pruitt and is the first track and first single on her second studio album, "Permission to Fly". "One Love" was released on Radio Disney on June 14, 2008 and was very successful, making the top three of Radio Disney's website multiple times.

Here's a part of the song:
"Some get 'em for the money,
some get 'em for the things,
some play it like a game just because they can!
I'm in it 'cause I wanna be,
boy, you were made for me!
Stay with me!
Baby, you know,
oh, oh, oh, yeah!"
9. Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" has the lyrics, "Just shoot for the stars, if it feels right. And aim for my heart, if you feel like. . ."

Answer: true

"Moves Like Jagger" does have the line shown above. It features singer Christina Aguilera, who sings the part:
"You wanna know how to make me smile!
Take control, own me just for the night.
And if I share my secret,
you're gonna have to keep it!
Nobody else can see this!

So watch and learn,
I won't show you twice.
Head to toe, ooh baby, rub me right!
But if I share my secret,
you're gonna have to keep it!
Nobody else can see this!"

Christina and Adam Levine, Maroon 5's lead singer, also star on the TV show "The Voice", on which the two of them are coaches. On June 21, 2011, they also sang the song for the first time live.
10. "Grew up in a ----- town and when the rain would fall down, I'd just stare out my window." Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" is a great song. What word completes the line?

Answer: small

"Breakaway" is the first track on Kelly Clarkson's second studio album of the same name. Did you know that Avril Lavigne actually wrote it and was supposed to have that song on her album, but felt it didn't fit in the album, so she gave Kelly the song?

My favorite part of the song is:
"Buildings with a hundred floors, swinging with revolving doors, maybe I don't know where it'll take me, but I gotta keep moving on, moving on! Fly away. . . breakaway!"
