'Je T'aime Moi Non Plus' caused a scandal on its release in 1969 because of its sexual explicitness. Jane Birkin was no stranger to scandal; two years earlier she had appeared in 'Blowup' a film that caused a stir because of its scenes of female nudity, casual sex and drug use.
