Answer: "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" and "Shout"

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" reached number one in the US and number two in the UK on initial release.
"Shout" reached number one in the US and number four in the UK on initial release.

"Hungry Like The Wolf" and "Rio" are by Duran Duran
"Alive And Kicking" and "Ghostdancing" are by Simple Minds
"Sowing The Seeds Of Love" and "Woman In Chains" are from the Tears For Fears album "The Seeds of Love".
2. In 2002 George Harrison released his final studio album. One of the songs from this album refers to a Rocking CHAIR. Where is this rocking chair located?

Answer: In Hawaii

George Harrison was the first member of the Beatles to have a solo number one single. This was with the song "My Sweet Lord" which hit the number one spot in the UK in January 1971, a few weeks after it had hit the number one spot in the US in November 1970.
3. "Ride The Lightning" is a track from the album of the same name by the American speed metal band Metallica. This song was written regarding a specific type of CHAIR. Can you tell me which type it is?

Answer: Electric chair

"Flash before my eyes
Now it's time to die
Burning in my brain
I can feel the flames"

The electric chair is a form of execution only used in the US. Nebraska ceased using the chair as their sole method of execution in November 2008. Lethal injection is seen as a more humane way to carry out the death penalty.

Sorry to bring the tone down! Let's try to lift it up again!
4. "CHAIRmen Of The Board" were a American soul band who had a number of hits in the early 1970s. Can you tell me in which city this band were formed? (Think Motown)

Answer: Detroit, Michigan

Chairmen Of The Board appeared on the newly formed record label Invictus. This was created by songwriters Holland/Dozier/Holland who had artistic and financial disagreements with their then patron Berry Gordy of Motown and decided to set up their own operation. For Motown H/D/H had written many classics for artists such as The Supremes, The Four Tops and Marvin Gaye, amongst others.

Answer: Folding

Regina Spektor is a Moscow born singer, songwriter who released her breakthrough album "Begin to Hope" in 2006.
"Begin To Hope" features the song "Samson". If you like female, piano led ballads, I can't recommend this song highly enough.
6. The American hip-hop/rap artist Jay-Z released his ninth studio album "Kingdom Come" in 2006. On the track "Beach CHAIR", Jay-Z collaborated with a British vocalist. Could you tell me who this was? (Think Gwyneth Paltrow.)

Chris Martin is a member of the British band Coldplay. He supplied the chord progressions for the track "Beach Chair" and has appeared with Jay-Z on the subsequent Kingdom Come tour, guesting on this song. Jay-Z also agreed to support Coldplay on three concerts in the UK in September 2009.
7. The British musician Steve Winwood released his eponymous debut solo album in 1977. This contained the song "Vacant CHAIR". Could you tell me with which artist this song was co-written? The person in question was one of the founders of the British avant garde "Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band" in the 1960s.

Answer: Vivian Stanshall

Vivian Stanshall (1943-1995) was a British music artist who dabbled in various fields of art including prose, poetry, art and music. He was the epitome of the British eccentric, often dressing and acting in a most surrealistic style. He is perhaps best known as being the narrator on Mike Oldfield's seminal album "Tubular Bells".
8. New Order released a version of their dance classic "Blue Monday" in 1988. This heavily rotated music video featured a lot of flip book images and tennis balls! Throughout the video there can also be seen something balancing on a pile of CHAIRS. Could you tell me what this something is?

Answer: a dark coloured dog

The dog featured throughout this music video was actually a trained Weimaraner named Fay Ray. This dog could also be seen occasionally on "Sesame Street".
9. The song "Angry CHAIR" appears on the 1992 album "Dirt" by this Seattle grunge band. Could you tell me who they are?

Answer: Alice In Chains

"Dirt" was Alice in Chains' breakthrough album reaching number six in the US and number 42 in the UK. This was achieved while riding the wave of the Seattle grunge music phenomenon headed by bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam. It now became popular to grow your hair and dress in thrift store fashion. Which I believe is the natural dress code for being a teenager!
10. "Rockin' CHAIR" was the first single from this 1990 album released by the British rock band Magnum. After moderate success in the UK and the continent this album was made as an attempt to break the US market. Could you tell me the name of this album?

Answer: Goodnight LA

Magnum are a melodic rock band from Birmingham UK, and I can't think of one bit of trivia about them apart from they make adequately pleasing melodic rock music. Enough said.
