Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start with breakfast. Where were Supertramp having breakfast according to the title track of their 1979 album?

Answer: America

The title track of the album, "Breakfast in America", was a bigger hit in the UK than it was in the US, reaching number nine in the UK chart but only 62 in the US Billboard 100.
2. "Breakfast at Tiffany's", is not only a great film, but the title of a song recorded by which American rock band in 1996?

Answer: Deep Blue Something

This song featured on the album "Home". The title obviously references the wonderful Audrey Hepburn movie. The singer's girlfriend is breaking up with him, as she says they have nothing in common. In desperation, he tries to think of something they do have in common, and sings -

"And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it.
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."
3. Coca Cola aimed to revolutionise the mid morning coffee break, by introducing the 'Diet Coke Break' in 1994. This advert features women in an office taking time out at 11.30 to watch a hunky builder drinking an ice cold Diet Coke! What was the name of the song used in the ad?

Answer: I Just Want to Make Love to You

The advert featured Etta James singing "I Just Want to Make Love to You". The song was originally a hit in 1954, but the success of the Diet Coke ad saw it re-released, giving Etta her first and only UK number one.
4. Now onto lunch. In the 1934 song by Cole Porter, who regrets she is unable to lunch today?

Answer: Miss Otis

This song has been covered by numerous artists including Kirsty MacCall, Bette Midler and Bryan Ferry. It was first performed in 1934 and it tells of a young society lady who was seduced and then abandoned. The song tells how she hunts down and shoots her seducer before being caught.

The song title reveals her final words before she is hanged - "Miss Otis regrets she is unable to lunch today". Cheery, eh?
5. Which rock band was "Out to Lunch" in 2000?

Answer: Motorhead

The song "Out to Lunch" was recorded on Motorhead's 15th album "We are Motorhead" in 2000.
6. Which British invasion band was having "Afternoon Tea", on a track on their 1967 album "Something Else"?

Answer: The Kinks

As far as I can tell the song was never released as a single. The Kinks had several UK number one hits with songs such as "You've Really Got Me", "Dedicated Follower of Fashion", and "Sunny Afternoon".
7. Afternoon tea is thought of as a true English tradition. How many people are having tea in the song which contains the lyrics, "Me for you, and you for me alone"?

Answer: Two

"Tea for Two" is a song from the 1925 musical "No, No, Nanette". It was written by Irving Caesar and Vincent Youmans. It is sung from the viewpoint of a young man, planning the future with his love.

"Picture you, upon my knee
Just tea for two, and two for tea
Me for you, and you for me alone"
8. At what time was Rufus Wainwright having dinner according to this track from his 2003 album 'Want One"? (Think logically for this one!)

Answer: Eight

"Dinner at Eight" appeared on the "Want One" album which was released in 2003. The song reportedly reflects the love / hate relationship which Rufus had with his father Loudon Wainwright III, and was written after a furious row with his father. Years later, when Rufus played the song for his father for the first time, Loudon loved it.
9. Feeling peckish on the way home you stop off at a local pub. Which band ordered "Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps please" in 1980?

Answer: Splodgenessabounds

This record, amazingly, reached No 7 in the UK in June 1980. It was written by the band's frontman Max Splodge after he tried unsuccessfully to get served in a pub before closing time.
10. And so, it's nearly time to head off to bed. But let's have a nightcap with 'One more for the Road'. Which famous, blue-eyed singer is most famous for singing the lines, "So, make it one for my baby, and one more for the road"?

Answer: Frank Sinatra

Yes, of course it was Frank Sinatra who made this song, "One for my Baby" his own. It has also been recorded by numerous other artists including Robbie Williams on his "Swing when you're Winning" album.
