"Running Scared" became Orbison's first number one hit when it reached the top of the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 charts in the summer of 1961 for a one week stay. It was co-written by Orbison along with Joe Melson.

The Singing Nun was born Jeanine Deckers in October 1933, in Belgium. She recorded this tune while spending time in a Belgian monastery in 1963. The song spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 charts in December of 1963. Although the song was a hit Deckers never received much international fame, and slowly faded to obscurity.

She left the monastery in 1967, and tried her hand at a musical career, but with little success. With a myriad of personal and financial problems, she and her life partner took their own lives in March of 1985.

"Mr. Lonely" was Bobby Vinton's fourth number one hit during the 1960s. He had previously scored with "Roses are Red", "Blue Velvet" and "There I've Said It Again". "Mr. Lonely" spent one week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts in December 1964. It was actually recorded in 1962 and appeared on Vinton's "Roses are Red" album but was not released as a single until late 1964.

The Supremes would eventually appear on the Sullivan show 17 times. "Come See About Me" was The Supremes third straight number one tune following "Where Did Our Love Go?" and "Baby Love". The would eventually have two more number one hits after this with "Stop! In The Name of Love", and "Back In My Arms Again" to make five straight number one releases, something that was unprecedented at the time.

It was successfully covered and turned into a psychedelic tune by the group Vanilla Fudge the following year who took it to number six on the charts..

It also was successfully covered by Kim Wilde in 1986 who took the song back to the top of the charts in the U.S. as well as Canada, Australia and Norway. The Supremes version is listed on Rolling Stone Magazine's compilation of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" at number 339.
