She appeared at Woodstock in 1969 and in a very short career recorded four albums and numerous Billboard Hot 100 hits, which included a song by Kris Kristofferson that topped the charts in 1971. Her final album named "Pearl" topped the Billboard 200 list and was ranked number one also in Australia,Canada,Holland and Norway.
2. Born February 25th in the United Kingdom, this man formed part of a famous band until it disbanded and then as a single artist became very established in his own right. His stand-out in a long line of musical successes was the world-wide number one album he released in 1970 and included one of the most played songs in rock history.

Born on the 27th of May, in Liverpool England, this young lady came, first up, against an equally talented young American singer with her first release who both recorded a Burt Bacharach-Hal David composition which was predicted to go to the top of many charts. History shows that the honors came out even with the British version topping the charts in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand while the American lady took number one on the Billboard Top 100,Canada and Australia. She reached her highest position on Billboard with her next release that peaked at number 26 while this song went top in the UK and Australia. Between 1964 and 1969 she produced eight more Top Ten hitss on the UK charts.
4. Born on the 26th July in Dartford England, this man has excelled as a singer, songwriter, composer and actor and has led a very popular rock band for many years. He studied at the London School of Economics before abandoning it for a career in music. In 1985 he branched out as a single artist but after four moderately successful entries into the Billboard Top 40 charts, he resumed activities with the band.
5. This man was born on the 23rd September in Madrid, Spain and by 1983 he celebrated having then recorded songs in the most languages, albeit 14 dialects. Has become one of the top ten music artists with well over 100 million sales. Besides fabulous success in Europe he has sold over 12 million records in Brazil.
6. Born on the 7th November this lady, born in Canada, was named by "Rolling Stone" magazine as ninth in it's list of the 100 greatest songwriters of all time and 'AllMusic" ranked her the most influential female recording artist of the late 20th century. From performing in nightclubs and busking in the street she eventually made her way to the US and began touring but her songwriting for top artists brought her very quick attention and signed with Reprise before releasing her very first album in 1968.
7. One of the rock era's wildest personality was born in Melbourne, Florida on December 8th. With great talent as a singer, songwriter and poet it was spoiled by his behavior on and off the stage and his dependency on alcohol. Being the leader of a top band his behavior sometimes affected his performances. As a rock icon he became a cult figure to this day.
8. One of Rock's greatest guitarists and personalities was born on the 18th December in Dartford England and went on to form a famous songwriting partnership with another team member. His ability allowed him to play both lead and rhythm guitar often in the same song. In 2011 he won the rock immortal award for best cameo for movie "Pirates of the Caribbean-On Stranger Tides".
9. Just making the list was a fine singer-composer and humanitarian who arrived on the 31st December in Roswell New Mexico. From 1971 to 1975 he scored eight Top Tens on the Billboard Hot 100 charts from nine entries including four number one hits. He combined country, signature songs and ballads among his extensive repertoire, and was named by AllMusic as one of the most beloved entertainer of his era. Incredibly he was turned down by the producers of the USA for Africa song "We Are The World" as (they said) he did not have credibility as a pop-rock artist.
10. Born on the 2nd of March in North London, this man learned to play the drums when ten years old and joined a band at the age of thirteen. In his late teens his talent saw him recruited to an up-and-coming instrumental band that also backed one of Britain's top singers. After leaving the band he was hired by Beatles manager Brian Epstein to produce tapes that the Beatles were to present to Decca records in hope of a contract. (As it turned out Decca made a huge mistake in choosing the Tremeloes.) He then teamed with a former band member to form a talented instrumental duo that produced several UK chart hits including a number one smash that topped the UK charts for three weeks.
